  • I used Optifast for a 4 month period to start a medically supervised diet 2 years ago. I slowly transitioned to eating all healthy food. I lost over 70 pounds and have kept it off. For me, it was a way to re-set my eating habits. My doctor is awesome- We combined working with a nutritionist , adding in exercise, and…
  • Carol- I also live in central New York(about 30 minutes from Syracuse). The weather has not been the best for being outside, but I cross-country ski and will walk in almost any weather as long as I can do it during the day. Unfortunately I often don't get home from work early enough. I have used Leslie Sansone walk DVDs…

  • Good morning all! Michele- I am also frustrated by not losing right now. I have been stuck for a long time. Not giving up! Barbie- How sweet! Great relationships are part "chemistry", but mostly a result of our attitudes and ability to accept and give love. You are such a great role model for living life in the present…

  • WOW that is awesome!! I don't know that I could get in and out of the kayak no matter how much weight I've lost. I'm scared to death of falling in. Do you get in with your husband or are you in separate kayaks? Love your dog photo by the way. Is that a golden? He looks like my golden. Best dog ever. [/quote] We are in…
  • Congratulations on you NSV! What an incredible story! For any of us, with or without, the added challenge of something like MS you are truly an inspiration. My NSV is not nearly as impressive, but has been very motivating for me. A few years ago my DH and I decided to start kayaking. I was over 200 pounds and 56 years old-…
  • I hired a personal trainer when I joined my gym. He did a fitness assessment and we discussed my goals before he set up a program for me to follow. We worked together once a week and I followed the plan he mapped out for me 4 days on my own. I got much stronger, improved balance, increased my energy level. He pushed me to…

  • Barbie- I was doing fine having 1/2 cup Kashi Crunch for breakfast and later for lunch or snack with yogurt, but have found lately that I am eating more than I should. I am almost out and am not buying anymore for a while until I can regain control. I am replacing it with fruits, veggies, and protein. I had been doing so…
  • Good afternoon all! DeeDee- Hope you enjoyed "holding court". I did a training class with a runner's club several years ago and loved it. I never got to the point of running a 5K (my goal) because they all of a sudden increased the running distance by more than I could keep up with. They were all training for a much longer…
  • Good morning all! It has been another crazy two weeks at work and not been able to post as much as I would like to, but have been reading all posts. Everyone is so busy! • janaemartin- When I started this journey, my doctor tested my vit. D level and it was very low. She put me on a high dose and now it is in the normal range. She told me that it is one of the things that can make it difficult to lose weight. I do feel better. Hope you find what works best for you. Deb A in CNY
  • Good morning all! I am enjoying a very unexpected snow day. We are really the only school in the area that is closed. Forecast is for light snow followed by freezing rain and ice. Guess our district took it seriously. It is better not to bring the children in and then have bad roads home for the ride home. I will take…

I will do my intervals (probably on the bike) and a workout with the kettlebell. Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit warmer, so we are going to ski or hike. I need…
  • Sunshine- I am almost at goal, but still have the belly fat that I would like to get rid of. The bariatric specialist I see suggested doing intervals of fast jogging/running with a 1.5 to 2 minute brisk walk cycle repeated for the length of your workout. She also said to be sure to get protein (for me 30 g) right after the…
