Oh god. I just went to the website http://gmdietnow.com/ Run. Run now. It has all the flags. You are going to *kitten* yourself for 7 days to "cleanse" and "detox." If this weight stays off for a month I will be shocked.
-
Yep. Tomorrow's lunch plans just got changed. Jerks.

Words to avoid: Detox, cleanse, flush. It's all code for "poop yourself silly." If any product also says it will reboot your metabolism or help "bust" the fat, run.

I love night time snacking. I budget for it. If I don't have the calories for snacking because of a big dinner, I don't miss snacks. If I don't have the calories for snacking because I ate high cal unfilling food at the beginning of the day, I miss snacks. Boy, do I miss snacks. With the reflux you'll have to play around…

Welcome to MFP. It's a calorie counting website. What does this mean to you? Count the calories you eat, set a sustainable weight loss goal, and learn more about food in general. Read some of these for a good place to start.

I have only ever had lavash as a restaurant appetizer. It came with a cheesy heavy cream dip that had yet more cheese melted on top. I'm guessing that's not what you want here. Any dip or cracker topping would be a good place to start--think hummus or tuna salad. Good luck!

You can out eat your weekly deficit on the weekend. It depends on the math. For example... You need to eat 3500 calories below maintenance per week to lose a pound. MFP would set you 500 calories below maintenance per day to make that weekly deficit. If you eat MFP's deficit all week but eat maintenance on the weekend you…

I make crustless quiche a lot. I am sure there are tons of recipes online. Also, this protein pancake recipe looks great. I haven't tried it yet, but for 43g of protein I'm going to give it a try someday.

Snacking isn't necessarily bad. Snacking on things that destroy your deficit and leave you hungry is. Can you budget the pretzel calories? I was under the impression that pretzels aren't too bad per serving size. If you just need something crunchy you could switch to vegetables and help hit your daily veggie servings, or…

You are reading an awful lot into "Are you looking to actually get fit or for instant gratification? These are mutually exclusive." It might be time to back away from the forums.

I don' t actually know or interact with the person you quoted, but there's so much "poor baby" therapy on MFP that people forget it isn't the only way. If that post makes her quit she isn't ready. I have a lot of hope for the OP because she asked for advice on what she's doing "wrong" instead of "please give me…

If I have breakfast I usually have around 250 calories of eggs, bacon, and toast. TBH the bacon is measured by the gram and crumbled on top of the eggs. In order, eggs, oatmeal, pancakes or waffles, and cereal are my favorites filling things. Breakfast gets brought up a lot. Here are some topics from the Recipes section…

If you are asking... Does microwaving increase calories in blueberries? No, but theoretically some water may evaporate. Just measure the blueberries before you heat them and use the raw blueberry entry. Do I need to count calories from blueberries? Yes. Weigh (by preference) the blueberries, or measure by volume. Do I need…

Mint oreo ice cream exists, and I feel sorry that you will never know its glory. Ever. You do not have my permission. Also, oreos dipped in coffee. Oreos dipped in coffee with bailey's. Oreos dipped in coffee and bailey's and this:

Breakfast salad: one soft boiled egg, 10g bacon, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and a cup of spinach or mixed greens. It tastes way better than it should. Sauteed mushrooms: mushrooms, garlic, and balsamic or red wine vinegar. I can put those on almost anything, or eat them as-is. Roasted red peppers: bell peppers, oil,…

Your blood sugar will be nuts. Make sure this is okay with a doctor. Some large religions with long fasting holidays include times of the day where you can eat (like after sunset) and make sure people are healthy enough to fast.

I like these and emilybites.com and budgetbytes.com Budget bytes isn't specifically low cal, but it has many good recipes that are easy to fit in my calories.

I drink tap water, unless I'm somewhere that the tap water tastes gross. After I found out that many bottled waters are from municipal sources I quit caring.

Screw that, it's inspirational for those of us in our 30's too! ;) ETA: Seriously nice job, OP.

Look around the Daily Spud. They've got a boxty recipe I plan on trying some day. There's also this fry up of caloric sin, and apparently black pudding is a superfood now, so everything's kosher (or something). Also, the internet tells me this brotchan roy soup is ancient and authentic, so it must be true! I can tell you…

I agree that it's a safe goal, but the tactic of "see? Internet forum goers agree with me!" seems a bad way to win the argument. Find another way, or you'll be taking a poll for every aspect of weight loss. This will not be the last time someone makes a comment IRL about your goals and appearance.

Do cottage cheese, eggs, and fish make you physically ill, or is there something about the taste and texture you don't like? There are probably recipes that can change taste and texture enough for you to enjoy foods with those ingredients, but you can't fool an allergy.

One old college roommate would do the following: Add milk, close jar and shake, open and add cheerios, get spoon.

Switch to kosher salt for cooking, too. A volume measurement of kosher salt has less salt than a volume measurement of table salt. I did not think it was a super significant difference, but I just checked the MFP database and it said that kosher salt is 280mg sodium per 1/4 teaspoon, and table salt is 590mg sodium per 1/4…

^^This. Go eat some bran muffins, drink black coffee, and run 5 miles on the treadmill. I'll wait. In all seriousness, you're fine. Blush if you've got to, but go back. It's the better end to the story.

The typo may skew this thread.

When I make something that is mixed, like soup or stir fry, I try to stir it right before spooning it out so I have a random mix. I also do this before my family members cherry pick all their favorite ingredients out off the mix and throw off the ingredient balance.

Without arguing the terms "clean, processed, and artificial" the best I can say is this: The more vegetables and lean proteins with herbs, spices, and vinegar I eat, the better they taste. But butter, bread, and cheese also start to taste better, and still I try to eat moderate amounts of them. Some fast food will bother…

Nice!

I just realized--I linked the wrong kung pao chicken in my previous post. This is the one I made a version of for about 315 calories/serving.
