  • @Barbie Ah, I look forward to getting a dog either this year or next and having a walking partner. Actually, after taking a walk with me this weekend, the hubby agreed to walk with me several days a week after work, too. I'm pleased but realistic and am waiting to see if it lasts. Positive thinking!! Oh god, those…
  • I'm going on one year now for an ankle I sprained last summer while walking up a hill in the rain (tip: don't wear Clogs in the rain  ). Luckily it happened not long before I had a tonsillectomy so I had a few weeks of staying home in which to recover... but as soon as I started driving to work again it started…
  • Happy Beginning of the Week, ladies! (Ok, I'm definitely not a Monday person, but something about MFP always makes me feel chipper.) Good job on staying active and involving your guest, Barbie! And grats on the clothes fitting better and measurements changes, Clover and Muff! I'm really looking forward to that. For Clover,…
  • You look adorable! Good job and congratulations!
  • Morning everyone! I realized this morning that I look incredibly silly trying to do my knee raises while doing another activity. I look like a member of the Ministry of Silly Walks. Day 1 - 10 (5/1 - 5/12) 1000 (squats, leg presses, marching pairs) 11 - 5/13 - 100 marching pairs 12 - 5/14 - 100 knee raise pairs 13…
  • Mine is in the same building as my work, so it takes about 2 minutes to get there. Now, that makes it 30 minutes from my home, so I wouldn't work out there on the weekends. I like my gym for convenience and being women-only, but they could use more room for classes. They just sort of spread out in front of some of the…
  • Day 1 - 10 (5/1 - 5/12) 1000 (squats, leg presses, marching pairs) 11 - 5/13 - 100 marching pairs 12 - 5/14 - 100 knee raise pairs 13 - 5/15 - 100 knee raise pairs 14 - 5/16 - 100 knee raise pairs Went over to a friend's house last night after work for a "girl's night" (her fiance drove out to share pizza with my hubby, so…
  • I heard about MFP from my dental hygienist. We'd always talk about where to buy cute big clothing, and this last cleaning visit she told me she was enjoying MFP. I checked it out at her suggestion, and I love it. Since I haven't spoken with her since, I don't actually know her username on here, so we're not friends…
  • Wow, you've been active, Clover! Good job. Barbie, is the plank you're doing similar to this one? I didn't know if it was a yoga pose or just a normal exercise. (Woops, forgot to put in the link.) http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises_10.htm I'm feeling fairly good today. I'm a soda drinker (love HFCS and…
  • Homemade vegetarian scotch egg! Hubby said I needed to have the scotch egg experience since they're one of his favorite snacks. They aren't sold in our area (or possibly in the USA at all?), so he made some. I love them! When I told him I was having my last one for breakfast, he looked at my funny and said they're not…
  • Happy Tuesday, everyone! @Barbie I understand what you mean. Just getting myself in the habit of moving and sticking with it is important. Not giving up! @Clover  Yeah, I thought I could squeeze some knee raises in while hiding in a bathroom stall, but I realized that even if I took the big stall it would look…
  • You look great! I love your figure... so curvy. Lose weight until you feel comfortable and healthy, but know that you already look awesome.
  • My father is 13 years older than my mother. They had 4 kids together and are still married. So, I'd say it happens. Edit: Amusing side note... my husband is actually 1.5 months younger than I am, so I guess the apple fell pretty far from the tree.
  • I've actually done that at work just to get a few done during the day.
  • How was everyone's weekend? I had a great spend-time-with-the-hubby weekend. Need to do more of those. Side effect is that I didn't take the time to use MFP, but I still tried to stay on track. Knees have been cracking overtime, so I switched to marching in place as Clover suggested. I'm going to try knee raises tonight.…
  • Ack, I forgot my squats on Wed. and almost did the same thing last night. Was settling down to fall asleep, remembered my squats, and made myself hop out of bed to do them. I refuse to drop out of the habit!! Those plie squats are great. Day 1 - 5/1 -100 2 - 5/2 - 100 3 - 5/3 - 100 4 - 5/4 - 100 5 - 5/6 - 100 6 -…
  • Normally I'd keep weight and cardio on different days, but I needed to squeeze my weight workout and pre-C25K into the same night yesterday so that I could line up my rest days with the days I have social plans. Instead of doing 100 squats at home, I instead did 100 leg presses at the gym. They're sort of similar, right?…
  • Last night went well! Day 1 - 5/1 -100 2 - 5/2 - 100 3 - 5/3 - 100 4 - 5/4 - 100 5 - 5/6 - 100 6 - 5/7 - 100 @Muff Glad to hear you're feeling better. Looks like you made up for that missed day. I'd say don't push yourself too hard, but you sound like a tough cookie! You have a lot of variety, too, great for not getting…
  • I'd rather be wealthy so I didn't have to choose new shoes based on price and not just comfort.
  • The plie squats seemed to work pretty well, so I'm feeling confident about them. I gave myself a day to recuperate and then started up again last night. It was a big improvement, although I'm going to watch it and substitute another leg-related activity as needed for a break. Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions,…
  • :noway: I'm starting to get worried about my knees. One in particular (the one that hurt a couple days ago) was getting pretty painful. I tried taking longer breaks and putting my weight more on the other leg, but no luck. I did try plie squats for a while, and they seemed to help. I'm going to go with those tonight and…
  • Last night was old version of squats, although I did do some research and founds some tips. Looking forward to putting them into practice tonight. Movie time is turning out to be the perfect time for squat exercises. Day 1 - 5/1 -100 2 - 5/2 - 100 3 - 5/3 - 100 @Muff Impressive squat numbers! Keep up the good work,…
  • When my stomach starts hurting or growling, I consider myself hungry. I don't have a sense of being hungry without an association of being uncomfortable if not actually pained in my belly. I can feel "peckish" (hubby's word), though, which leads to snacking but also to keeping the hunger pains at bay. Full... I guess when…
  • TBH I just take the Flintstones iron supplement. It's almost the amount needed for an adult woman, so I just get the rest from my food. Chewable and gummy supplements are the only ones I can get excited about taking, and the iron tablets looked boring.
  • Thank you for the pics and timeline! Very inspirational to someone who's just hit that turning point.
  • @Barbie I didn't even think about looking at different types of squats! Going to make it a goal to check some out tomorrow to see what would work best. Knees were a bit sore today, so I didn't go quite as deep this time. Day 1 - 5/1 -100 2 - 5/2 - 100
  • So far (and by so far I mean 2 days  ), the Groups have been a good source of encouragement for me. I seem to need that challenge and structure to stay on track. Instead of "in # years I want to weigh 160 lbs.", I have shorter goals of "today I'm going to walk for the entire C25K work out" and slightly longer term…
  • Oh my god, that is soo cool! I never noticed that button. And it worked!
  • I've told my husband because, well, I don't really hide anything from him and it would look weird if I stashed the phone every time he walked by when I was entering my data. He's also very supportive and is sufficiently impressed when I finish a work out all sweaty that it gives me a boost of motivation. (Then he…
  • *claps* Love the idea! The hubby is vegetarian but gets tired of the meatless burgers from the store. I've heard quinoa is good for you but wasn't certain how to make it tasty. Thanks for the recipe.
