  • I set MFP up for 1-1.5 per week and it has me on an 1860 calorie per day target. Here's the big thing, though. I really don't care all that much about the scale. I only plan on weighing myself every other week. Maybe in a little while I will weigh myself once a week. See, scales SUCK! I much prefer NSVs. For instance,…
  • Just fantastic. Great attitude = great accomplishments!!
  • Thyroid issues SUCK! It's so much harder for us to lose weight. All I can say is keep at it. If you're not losing a lot of weight look at the positive aspect of you're getting more and more fit every day. Plus you'll be setting a great example to your kids. And if that doesn't work. . . . double up on your synthroid every…
  • 7 pounds is a lot for one month. If you lose 7 pounds each month over the next couple of months you'll blow away your goal and look SMOKIN' in that bikini!! Also, what about NSV?? (non-scale victories). Scales are EVIL!! Do your clothes fit differently? What about more room in your jeans? Diet is only part of the process.…
  • Been a member off and on for four years but always find some reason to stop logging. Well, I always do my best when I'm logging so I've been back for two weeks and really motivated to do well.
  • Every RUSH tour since 1977s A Farewell To Kings tour right through last years Clockwork Angels Tour. Yes, I've seen them all, some several times. The Who's 20th Anniversary of Tommy Tour. GNR, Metallica & Faith No More.

  • I usually make egg white omelets with a bunch of veggies -- red onion, tomato, mushroom, spinach. Nothing smells better than the veggies sauteeing in the pan. A pretty large omelet is only about 60-75 calories. Add some black coffee and I'm good for the morning and it's really low carbs and almost no fat.

  • Funny how the simplest things can make you feel really good about yourself.
  • Congrats. I am doing the same thing. Back in August of 2012 I was down over 50 pounds in less than a year thanks to diet, exercise and, of course, MFP! Then I had a super scary health problem and all of my work went down the drain. Well, I, too started eating healthy again this week and hit the gym today for the first time…
  • Welcome to MFP. I have been using this site for a few years. There is so much here to help you from logging food, to getting ideas, to meeting people to help and to realize YOU ARE NOT ALONE in trying to get healthier. There is a lot of support here, just have fun and be committed to yourself & your family.
  • Hi!! Welcome aboard. Great place to be, great tools, great & not-so-great advice. Fun people. Jerks. Get healthy!
  • Since you're going to the gym, why don't you take a minute and speak with one or two trainers there. Explain to them your overall goals and ask them about a good, well-rounded workout that will get you where you want to go. Also, it may not be a bad idea to talk with your doctor and make sure there aren't any hidden issues…
  • PENS!! And to all of you Flyers fans. . . .does 1975 mean anything? How many of you were alive then?
  • Levi's 505s. Prefer the zipper to the button fly.
  • I'm having some right now. Dipping in Heinz Spicy Brown Mustard. Crazy low calorie crunch snack.
  • LET'S GO PENS!!! I'm in if you need someone.
  • 2012 started off great. Lost 49 pounds Joined a gym and started to exercise regularly Learned a lot about food and nutrition and started to eat more healthy. Then. . . . . . Had a pacemaker put in in late August. Wasn't able to go to gym, put on 16 pounds but the positives are that I ended 2012 33 pounds lighter and I'm…
  • NSVs are so much better than watching the evil scale. Great job!!
  • Welcome. You'll find a lot of encouragement, ideas, and advice here. First bit of advice. . .STAY POSITIVE!! You're doing this for you and for your health. Keep that in mind. Don't jump in and hope to perform like someone who's been at this for years. You're only competing with yourself. Approach this as a lifestyle…
  • I do both. I recommend speaking to the trainer at your gym and explain & explore what your goals are. There's a lot of different types of cardio & a lot of different ways to do weight training. Combine what's best for you WITH A HEALTHY DIET and you will see results. Be patient because you may not lose weight as fast as…
  • FANTASTIC!!!! NSVs are so much better than watching the scale. Scales are evil and only tell part of the story. Clothes fitting better & people commenting on how good you look blows away the scale.
  • Clockwork Angels -- Rush
  • You will love seeing them for the first time. Just remember, they're only a three-piece band. You will be blown away. I'll be seeing them in less than a month (!!) I've now seen them over 30 times!!
  • First there's Rush, then nobody else!!! Seriously, Rush is 1-5 then in no particular order: The Who The Beatles Goo Goo Dolls Evanescence Van Halen
  • 48 here. Been on track since beginning of the year. Lost a bunch so far but still more to go. Feel free to add me!!!
  • Okay, time to feel old. First concert was Chicago in 1977 (I was 13). Last concert was Van Halen a few months ago before they imploded (again). Next concert is RUSH, for the 30+ time!!!!
  • I have a Polar FT7. LOVE IT! I really like that it stores your workouts so you can log them later. Advice: There's a lot of them out there. Make sure you get one that has a chest strap. Much more accurate than wrist only. I bought mine through Amazon and saved about $35 vs. retail & had free shipping.
  • Stella for normal drinking. I had the pleasure of going to Germany a few years back. Kulmbacher Pils was my absolute favorite there. And there are no bad beers in Germany!!
