You can do some, but most homes don't have high enough ceilings to be able to make use of things like rings, pullup bar stations tall enough to do C2B pullups, wall balls, plyo boxes, or overhead presses with plates loaded on a barbell. Also bear in mind that the very nature of those circuit training style workouts makes…

The people who go vegan do it not for health but because of strong views regarding animal rights/animal cruelty. If these weren't your reasons for going vegan, then you're probably taking a much more extreme approach to dieting than you need to be, and you probably won't be able to maintain it indefinitely. Your idea to…

As a beginner your best bet is to do full body workouts. Splitting by body parts is something really only advanced users who have built a strong base will benefit from ideally. If you're limited to what you have access to at PF, I recommend going with a dumbbell based regimen using the Spartacus workouts (app is available…

HRMs without a chest strap are not for fitness purposes. They're for taking your heart rate/pulse on a spurt of the moment for medical purposes. They may offer a calorie function but its essentially useless. No chest strap = not for fitness/calorie burn purposes. Period.

It's a great program and you will see great results if you stick with it.

The "S" model (which came out in 1997) was the one referred to as the Widowmaker. They ironed out the suspension issues JUST enough by the time the "R" model had come out (in 1999) to no longer merit that title. It was still a handful to ride and the rotary rear damper was problematic either way, but it wasn't so bad.…

High impact exercise of any kind--which running is--can cause irreparable damage to your joints if you are a) significantly overweight, or b) your form is anything less than perfect. Can you start running when you are overweight? Yes but your form has to be absolutely flawless, and you have to take very special care in…

They're completely different. But neither is really a "complete" program. Neither one combines the balance of cardio and strength training to be able to cover all your bases from a fitness point of view.

What kind of jump rope? Speed rope? Double unders? EDIT: Jumping rope is a very high intensity exercise. If you're doing 30 minutes a day you probably need to eat more than 1700 just to fuel yourself. Typically jumping rope is something you only do for 10-20 minutes a day. Any more than that is too much given the nature of…

It's a collection of workouts put together by Men's Health Magazine. The workouts themselves are free on youtube (there's 4 different ones) as well as a special DVD version you can purchase that actually has people leading you along on 2 of the workouts as well as an additional bonus workout. Think of it as a much more…

The time of day you work out has no bearing on fat loss, muscle gain, or anything else that pertains to fitness. This "myth" about more fat loss when working out in the morning comes from the idea that working out in a fasted state yields more fat loss. While this may be true, many people cannot safely work out fasted.…

I want to add though that the Farmers' Walk is traditionally done with a load that is sufficient enough to fatigue you in a matter of seconds--not minutes. I think that if you do it with a load light enough to allow you to go an extended period of time like that you won't see much benefit to it at all.

The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack was my first cassette. The first CD was a trio of Styx albums I got for Christmas one year along with my first CD player: Crystal Ball, Kilroy Was Here, and Pieces of Eight.

The exercise you're referring to is called a farmer's walk. It is a legitimate exercise.

Welcome! And don't forget, use the rear brake and front brake simultaneously at all times.

Repetition is how you train the body's muscles. Programs such as AllPro's or Starting Strength or Stronglifts are ideal for beginners because of how they program the body's nervous system to adapt best to the lifts. If you're serious about kettlebell training get one that goes up to 40+ lbs. Trust me, you'll need it.

That's what I thought. In for virgins, either the eating of, or the feeding of.

We have no Baja Fresh around here so I've never even seen one. I've heard of them but that's about it. Regarding Moe's, the only one in the Pittsburgh area (that I know of, anyway) is in the heart of Downtown, really inconvenient to get to unless you have business that takes you to the area. Never eaten there yet but I…

What are your goals? Anyone who makes a recommendation for a generic "workout" without first asking your goals probably doesn't know enough to be giving you advice. IMO. Different workouts for different goals.

Qdoba > Chipotle.

They have moisture wicking properties which only work if they are directly in contact with your skin. They're quite amazing.

1. Keep it low impact. If you're significantly overweight, high impact workouts can be murder on your knees no matter how good your form is. 2. Find substitutions where your weight or the size of your gut limits your range of motion. If it prevents you from being able to use safe, good form, don't do the exercise at all.…

My mother does it. Personally I'm not a fan of what it does to the flavor, but I know a lot of people do it.

TIS ONLY WAFER THIN.

I tried it myself. Didn't work. When I first wake up I'm way too groggy and out of it for about an hour or so to be able to safely do anything I would consider high intensity exercise. I would fall over and likely injure myself. Plus I get nauseous if I do fasted workouts. Morning exercise isn't for everyone, and if you…

In terms of weight training intensity is based on volume and sets vs. reps. Basing it on your body's tendency to produce sweat or not is incorrect.

To see the results you want you're going to need to start increasing the weights. You're going to need access to a selection of weights for this.

1. Powerblocks are modular. If and when you ever outgrow the 50 lbs they max out at, you can buy even more to put on them as an accessory (it sounds like a stretch but believe me with lower body exercises you CAN outgrow 50 lb dumbbells and sooner than you think!) 2. The length of the Bowflex ones can make certain…

The strength training section of the exercise log is not there for calorie logging purposes but for logging your progress with lifts (weight/reps, etc).
