That's what I thought when I first got here, but I've learned so much since then. Now I'm all about small sustainable change and gradually creating new healthier habits rather than revamping my whole life and reverting in times of stress. Small changes have been so much easier to stick with. Sorry, I always come off as a…

I kinda am a perfectionist and it has stopped me from doing so much in my life. Because I didn't want to try if I was certain of success. And when I screwed up I gave up. So my mindset this go round was. I don't have to be perfect I just have to be better. It really took the pressure off. And I've got a much longer term…

Just checked out their website... Ingredients: Color (Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Red 40 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Soy Lecithin), Natural and Artificial Flavor, Dextrose. Hate to break the news to you but Dextrose is a type of sugar "derived synthetically from starch"... Still it is only 10 calories and you need a treat now and…

1) Maybe they have kids together? Always nice to have both parents playing nicely (or at least civil) during the holidays. Takes pressure off of the kids. They don't have to risk insulting one parent or the other if prefer a big family holiday over the small "just us" dealio. 2) I'm with the New Year's for new beginnings…

Don't feel bad. Awesome progress awful fast. I must say however one of the best decision I made was to calculate the maintenance calories for my goal weight. And I gradually ADDED calories back the closer I got to my goal. It was excruciatingly slow, but by the time I got to my goal I was already eating at maintenance and…

Cleaning up (without attitude) is WAAAAAAAAY sexier than cooking.

Put out by the World Health Org. They base their data on what's healthiest. So something to think about.

I'm so confused... The 3 MACROS are: FAT, CARBS and PROTEIN.... all foods fall into one of those catagories. You watch your MICRONUTRIENTS, to make sure you are getting appropriate Vitamins and Minerals If my daily targets are: 55% CARBS 30% FAT 15% PROTEIN That equals 100% So if you go low-Carb and bring that down to 40%…

That's just the point... It's NOT forever it's just for TODAY... For today I'm going to make the best choices I can even if those choices aren't perfect. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

WATCH YOUR SUGAR BOTH sugar and artificial sweeteners increase your appetite.... The more you get the more you want. I DO have a sweet tooth, so I try really hard to watch out for sugar in *real* foods. The brand of pasta sauce I was using had 9g sugar per 1/2 cup serving. My favorite cookies have 9g sugar per 15 cookies.…

I've lost over 30 lbs in about 15 months. I went slow. This is about endurance... In the end it's all about maintenance... The good news is you don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better. 1) tracking for a couple of weeks before I worried about losing. (although seeing what I was eating I couldn't help but rein…

Ask myself "do I REALLY want this?" It's okay if the answer is yes. Leave what is MEH Eat what is yummy, but remember that, there comes a point where it doesn't make me any happier. (I come from a large family and it's easy to get caught up in the mob mentality of staking your ground to get your "fair share")

When I'm at the same weight for 3 day in a row, then I log it. At the start I planned on weighing-in once a week, but found I was way too curious to limit myself, so I came up with the 3 day rule. I compare only apples to apples. Morning post-potty weigh-ins, but sometimes I'll get on the scale at other times of the day to…

Started Sept 2010: about 175 lbs Reached Goal Nov 2011: 145 while experimenting with different maintenance strategies went down to 142. Still trying to figure out what will work best for me long-term.

Why would this make losing weight more difficult? I always thought that along with some veg was a balanced meal. We get all of our nutrition through those 3 Macros. You don't need a lot of fat but you do need some. Many vitamins are fat soluable. so even if you are eating your vitamins, you woon't absorb them with out a…

Sorry about your Grandma. But, GOOD GOING! (I doubt I will ever ELIMINATE "emotional eating" from my life. But between looking for strategies to avoid it along with learning how to forgive myself and move on, rather than giving up completely. I'm doing much better and living a happier life. That's what I'm here for to live…

Actually tea and coffee DON"T dehydrate you they just HYDRATE less effectively. This I knew and always counted coffee and tea as 1/2 the amount. But, I just read a study (I think it was by U PENN) about how the minimal the difference in hydration is between water and coffee, basically they said coffee is so close to water…

Well, I'm not a water chugger. I went to a nutritionist many years ago she said 1 glass of water for every 25 lbs of body weight. For my current weight I would require 6 cups of water. Recently read a study that compared hydration effects of coffee compared to water, they for all intents and purposes you CAN count a cup of…

I keep my journal *private*... but I log EVERYTHING (I can lie in my journal, I can lie to myself, I CANNOT lie to my body it knows every single thing I consume) Logging honestly helps me see patterns and once I see patterns it's easier to find coping strategies. I know we all say we are never going to stress eat again,…
