Let's Do Some Math... (the good news is the gap is closing.. The first time I ran these numbers it was more dramatic.) Starting with the premises... 1) 49% is male and 51% of the population is female 2) 9% of the male population is gay and 5% of the female population is gay. (1993 janus survey) Straight Male Population:…

I can't run because I've got to keep it low impact. With a tendon issue it might be a repetitive motion concern for you. But I'm bumping this in case there are any good suggestion I can swipe.

Personally, I'm entirely too fickle for a tattoo. What's your fickleness quotient?

Some people swear by frequent small meals so that your body always knows there is more food coming Some people zig zag their calories to keep there metabolisms on their toes. Zig Zagging is what worked for me. I was sooooo much happier once I gave myself a range: This saved my life when I was losing. ROCK BOTTOM: 1200 cal…

Babysteps Don't up-end your whole world. Make a small change or two wait until it becomes habit, then make another couple of changes, wait until it becomes habit and so on and so on.

You may be good where you are... the WORLD HEALTH ORG classifies as healthy... Ages: 20-40 Healthy = 21-33% ( <21% is considered "Underfat") Ages: 40-60 Healthy = 23-35% ( <23% is considered "Underfat") Editing to find the WHO Chart

One black guy I dated was so focused on other people judging us that, that became an issue for me. Not others judging, but his focusing on it so much. 1) Maybe I was young and naive, but it was not blatantly obvious to me. 2) So! Other people ARE going to judge us, but we can't control that and I don't want to waste all my…

Eat SOME carbs, but eat COMPLEX carbs... We only have 3 macros, it seems silly to me to entirely ditch one whole category of food. I personally think this anti-carb thing is just a rebound from the anti-fat diets that preceded them. When everyone went low-fat, they filled the gap with carbs... and obesity, diabetes and…

I find that if I made healthy choices, but have gone over I'm usually under for the next day or two even without trying, so it all comes out in the wash. Just focus on healthier choices for this evening and the next day or two. (Don't kill your self to make up the calories, but don't stress the "starvation mode" thing if…

Everyone in my family drinks it black they say I drink "baby coffee" I started out using a packet of artificial sweetener and a heck of a lot of skim. I gradually weaned myself down to 1/2 packet of sweetener, then switch to real sugar, then 1/2 packet of sugar and now usually none. I still use skim now, but less. If I'm…

Tone your abs and your core should help relieve your back pain. When the muscles are strong and supporting your frame, it takes stress off of your bones. I say focus on what you should be eating... getting in all of your happy fats, complex carbs, protein, calcium, iron, vitamins, and all your other micro-nutrients. You…

I find it more motivational to leave my activity level at sedentary and track my exercise. It's nice to feel I've earned a treat and to eat back some of my extra exercise calories and Also when I track I get to see the change in how much more I am now capable of. I'm a firm believer in baby steps so change isn't always so…

When I realized that my Mom's debilitating health issues, were weight related. Most over my life I thought of her as overweight, but healthy and capable... Seeing the cumulative effects years later is just plain scarey. On meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. But worse than that is the constant pain she…

Personally, this is something I've got to do for me. I like the message boards to learn new ideas and approaches. Or even to validate some of my existing philosophies. I spout off a lot, but I find commenting helps me clarify my thoughts and helps me work out new strategies. I don't get the whole accountability thing some…

With MFP I'm really about figuring out how to eat for the long haul. I like to track very accurately see cause and effect and adjust. I try different things and see what works for me. I haven't tried WW because I'm too scared. I know several people who have done WW several times and each time they gain the weight back plus…

MAYO CLINIC SAYS: (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/caffeinated-drinks/AN01661) Recent research shows that this is not true and that caffeine has a diuretic effect only if you consume large amounts of it — more than 500 to 600 milligrams (the equivalent of 5 to 7 cups of coffee) a day. Ouch!... (I thought spaying would be bad enough, but pepper spaying.... That seems like adding insult to injury!)

I eat chocolate everyday. I don't understand why it not on the list of essential nutrients so I can track it. You know, just to make sure I'm getting my daily requirements met.
