I'm a firm believer in "Rollover Calories." If I work out late I don't worry about fitting them in on the same day. I eat them the next day. (Think if you worked out at 6am and ate them at 8pm on the same day you wouldn't give it a second thought. So working out at 8pm and eating the calories at 10am is really the same…

You'll have a greater sense of accomplishment when you get to your goal. But don't worry about getting there quickly. Since you don't have that much to lose, it goes slower, be patient with yourself. The real accomplishment comes in maintenance... Think about sustainable habits you can carry with you for the long haul.…

I eat: CHEERIOS (regular not honey nut) CORN FLAKES RICE KRISPIES KIX OATMEAL FARINA I eat low-sugar or no-sugar options. I can always add my own sugar/syrup/honey/agave if I feel the need. But that means I can control my sugar and wean myself down to use less and less.

2-4 when I was 14 I decided I wanted (2 girls or 2 boys or 2 girls AND 2 boys) but have zero :-( and that ship has sailed... Things don't always work out the way you figure.

This happened to me just the other day almost 100° in NYC no A/C. I thought walking around the house in as little as possible, but suddenly it was less.

If I know ahead of time that I have an event where I won't be in total control. I'll skim 100-200 calories a day off of of my goal for 2 or 3 days before my splurge. So I'll have an extra 300-600 calories to play with. (I don't try to save all the calories in one day, then I just get starved and eat without thinking or…

There are 3 macro nutrients. Carbs -- Fats -- Proteins. Personally I think if you cut out or severely limit any one category. You're doing yourself more harm than good. CARBS. rather than limiting carbs focus on switching the carbs you do eat to COMPLEX CARBS... more fiber, takes longer for your body to break down so you…

When folks guess your age they always guess younger so they don't insult you, so I add 5 year to whatever they guess. That being said people often assume I'm in my mid 30s (I'm 50).

When I first came to NYC in 1984 I worked at an ad agency was told I had a "non-regional tone" and that I should do commercial voice-overs. Close to 30 years in the city I'm sounding distinctly like a New Yawka

I could never do 1200 calories for more than 2-3 days in a row. Almost gave up, but then I gave myself a range ROCK BOTTOM: 1200 calories TARGET: MFP lose 1 lb a week until that got down to 1200 then switched to lose 1/2 lb a week HIGH END: Maintain calories for GOAL WEIGHT As long as I stayed in this range I would…

what matters is if you are doing better now, than you were before. a series of small sustainable changes... rather than changing everything at once pick a few things to improve after a while they become habit. Then change a few more things and so on and so on.

This attitude for me would be setting myself up to fail. And equates you success in this one area to your value as a person. Irregardless of how kick-*kitten* you are in the rest of your life. We each have to find the right headspace that works for us.... Here's the thinking that got helped me on my way: The good news is…

1) Do you WANT to eat cake? It's your decision not hers... --If you DO NOT want to eat cake... say "no thank you" you shouldn't really have to defend your choices. (but some people really do pressure you into it... So I sometimes back pocket a few reasons why I can't indulge unrelated to dieting. Your dieting often makes…

Well, nice to hear that you are attracted to what the WORLD HEALTH ORG classifies as healthy... Ages: 20-40 Healthy = 21-33% ( <21% is considered "Underfat") Ages: 40-60 Healthy = 23-35%

I always say I'm an equal opportunity employer. I like to think I focus more on what's inside. The men I've dated have a wide range of physical characteristics. I've date men from every ethnic background and socio-economic background. But I do have 2 prejudices. --First not so much attracted to east indian men... purely on…

Babysteps helped me keep my sanity. You don't have to be perfect you just have to be better. Losing slow is the way to go! I found making a series of small changes, was way less stressful than changing everything all at once. And it made it easier to stick with it. Started in Sept 2010 and was down 32 lbs by Jan 2012. I…

I usually track Sugar, Sat Fat, Cholesterol, Sugar, Protein and Calcium. You can always swap out your categories in setting and then use the orange button at the bottom of your diary page to generate a report. I do this occasionally to spot check sodium, iron, potassium and fiber. I think sugar is important, not just…

I had friends in last weekend... last minute. I made fish in parchment... my guest were impressed and it was VERY easy. (you can use foil if you don't have parchment in the house.) I used White Roughy (Trader Joe's frozen section) sprinkled with salt, pepper, paprika and a little shredded fresh ginger. I placed a layer of…

Had a date or 2 with the guy that went fine... Liked him enough to agreed to meet him for a late movie. (a few blocks walk from my apt.) We got tickets and found a seat... He decide that he didn't want to see this film after all and that he'd sneak into another theater, because he really wanted to see something else. And…

I know it's wrong... and it's a different story when it's me... But when I'm walking around NYC and hear couples having a full blown argument on the street. As a passerby all you hear are silly details out of context. "I can believe you took my orange socks!" (You know the argument is not really about socks)

Why jumpstart?.... Learn to eat healthy for your whole life... that takes some practice... eat in a way that you can keep up indefinitely. I don't think that 10-days of harsh stress on your body will do you any good in the long run. I tracked for a couple of weeks before I worried about losing. (although seeing what I was…

I see no accounting for AGE here. I ate 1800 or so calories to maintain 135-140 in my early 20s Now I'm eating 1550 to maintain 143 in my 50s
