The category "Dancing, aerobic, ballet or modern, twist" gives you a rough estimate for logging. I have a HRM and it's pretty close to what MFP gives in that category.

I've been struggling with this too. My BF get's reimbursed for a gym membership from his insurance provider if he goes so many times per month... you think he will re-join and go with me? No. His thought - It's summer, so why would you want a gym membership?? He keeps unhealthy food and snacks in his house (hello, a tub of…

I don't know if it's medically proven, but you will have a lot of people tell you yes. When I'm not having a daily diet soda, I crave waaay less sweets. The craving usually kicks in about an hour or two after the diet soda. Crazy!! I try to stay away from the stuff, but must cave every now and then. :)

I used to have RLS issues, but then I stopped taking OTC sleep meds like Advil/Tylenol PM. Can't sleep - take it, RLS gets worse, never ending cycle!!! Once I finally made the connection and started taking natural sleep aid, or something that doesn't have the diphenhydramine ingredient, I've been a happy, RLS-Free gal!

I tried Points Plus for about 6 weeks at the beginning of the year, moved over here due to a lack of results. I'm still having no results, but am more comfortable counting easy calories, not mysterious points with a crazy new mathematical equation.

I would say if you're striving to lose 5-6 lbs per week, and you've had that result in the past, that could be part of the reason you're yo-yo'ing with weight. 1-2 lbs per week, a slow loss.... is best for keeping it off. And really, even if you lost 1.5 per week, you'll hit your goal in 20 weeks. 20! That sounds so close!…

Is there a website with the program outlined? I've been trying to do the Couch to 5k Program, and I've been stuck in week 3 for many weeks. Not sure what my hold up is... I just can't seem to add time on to my run segments and make them last.

My HRM only gives me about 450 cal's for a 50 min class. I feel like I work A LOT harder than that. Hopefully once I get more of the hang of things, I'll be able to work a little harder.

This is a great tool, thanks for sharing!

I don't factor in fruits to my sugar count, that helps a great deal. With my fruit at lunch, and banana snack, I'm like 30g over on sugar. If I take those out, I'm fine. I'm guessing others will weigh in that there are good sugars and bad sugars... the sugar goal is so low, I take a look at my snack bars, etc when…

Calories in are calories in, doesn't matter when you eat them, even if it's at 2am. One suggestion - adjust your diary to time frames of the day - 7am-12p, 12p-5p, 5p-10p, 10p-7a. I'm tempted to do this since my diary is always heavy on snacks since I usually have a mid-morning snack and mid-afternoon snacks in addition to…

I'm with you. I've been trying to loose LB's since the beginning of January, and have lost a total of 4 lbs so far and can't seem to break under the 200 mark. I feel extremely discouraged when people say "Oh, you might be gaining muscle!", well, I have over 50 lbs of FAT on my body that certainly isn't swapping itself out!…

Let us know how it works! :)

It seems high for the Shred workout. I did level 2 the other day, and only burned 217 calories and was working pretty hard through it.
-
I've had that happen before too - Get up, use the bathroom, check the scale - one weight. Go make coffee, eat breakfast, strip down before shower, check the scale - another, usually lesser weight. So I've just made the habit of using my pre-shower weigh-in, even though I've had breakfast. Not sure what it is... I do know…

I've been wondering about the EasyFit too... I haven't really seen much of a push for it from the staff either. It seems like a pricey gadget! I think a heart-rate monitor or pedometer is probably a better investment for the price.

Did you have a lot of sodium in your eating yesterday? If you're thirsty - drink it up! There are much worse things you could be choosing than 4L of water, that's for sure!
-
I have the Polar FT4 too and love it. I also like doing run/walk interval training. I'm currently doing the Couch to 5k program. It's really good and getting the hear rate up and down to burn calories.

WHAT SHE SAID!! Benny Benassi David Guetta and super hottie KASKADE too!

If you use iTunes, download PodRunner podcasts. the 150-160 BPM ones are good for general workouts. Also, there are some Groove-Cruise (or Kalendr LIVE) podcasts that are my current workout obsession!

It definitely could still cause issues. The treadmill I use at the gym has handle things that you need to grip to measure your heart rate, but somehow the monitor and the treadmill still talk to each other.
-
I usually mix up my cardio through the week. Elliptical, walk on the treadmill at a decent incline, run/walk intervals on treadmill... I keep meaning to try out the rowing machine too. Bottom line - it never hurts to mix up cardio - and it would probably help you for sure!
-
Does your treadmill have a HRM built in? I think most do have some sort. There may be some miscommunication going on between the two. My HRM somehow magically syncs up with the treadmill at the gym to give my HR reading.
-
I agree with all said here! I have the Polar Ft4 also, and I love it! It's quite surprising what exercise burn more calories than you thought, or way less than you hoped. As for the chest strap, the research I did pointed out that it's pretty much a necessity for accurate readings. It does dig in a few places, but it tucks…

I have the same issues! My boyfriend thinks a 20 minute will "work off" the steak and potatoes from dinner! HA! Or just because it's got veggies and chicken in it, it's healthy - nevermind the sauce/dressing/sodium it's drenched in. I try to be patient, and I know I'm a walking contradiction half the time (I'd eat the…

Logging it as circuit training gives a pretty close guess at calories burned.

I adjusted my goal to 1.5 lbs per week instead of 2 simply because 1200 calories was not enough with no exercise. It's easier to manage, but I'm struggling to make the scale move regardless. :(
-
I"m kind of in the same boat - my sodium isn't always dead on, there have been days where it was almost double, but I find it hard to believe that sodium alone would prohibit any weight loss over the course of a month. I've lost and gained the same 2 lbs for the last 4 weeks - and am always 100 calories or so within my…

Go to a store and have them fit you for the right shoe. Everyone's needs and feet are different. If you don't have a store near you, endless.com has a pretty decent "finder" for athletic shoes.

I've had the same problem as I work through the Couch to 5k running program. It's in my chest, left side, almost under the arm. Then for about an hour after my run, my breathing is wheezy. When I pay more attention to my actual breathing, I don't notice it as much. I am going to talk to my doc at the next check up though…
