Last December, I quit instantly by using the KGO e-cigarette and flavored e-liquid from myfreedomsmokes. You can get it with nicotine in varying strengths and completely without. All my blood tests show that I am a nonsmoker. It's literally saved my life.

Amazing number! What was your A1c before you were diagnosed?

I agree with all of the above. Stop eating carbs.. no bread, no donuts, no rice, no crackers, no cereal... you get enough carbs from vegetables. Minimize fruits. It doesn't matter how big you are. You Can do this, and your little one will be the healthier for it. Congratulations, by the way. My little ones are not so…

Very hard to gauge without seeing your food diary.

Your carbohydrates are very high. Carbohydrates turn into glucose.. when your body sees that they have enough glucose, the excess is stored as fat. Lower your carbohydrates and increase your protein. Cut back on the breads. At first, try to stay way under 100 grams of carbohydrates as you increase protein. Less is better.…

Add protein and fats... go lower on the carbs.

Hi there! I can totally relate. I'm 45 and had been trying to lose weight for soooo long. Even with 1200 calories a day and moderate exercise, that scale would not budge after the initial 10 pounds or so. Recently, I was diagnosed with diabetes type II and put myself on the LCHF diet.. lots of proteins, and Very low carbs…

Oh my goodness, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a couple of weeks ago. My A1c was a whopping 10.5 (297 avg blood glucose). For years I felt like I was just going to die. It was awful. No energy, inability to sleep well, couldn't exercise, couldn't lose a lot of weight. My doctor put me on Metformin twice a day. But, I…

I quit smoking (last December) using a really good e-cigarette, not the kind you buy at a store, but the kind that lasts a long time before you have to charge them again. It was SO easy.. and my doctors just love me for doing it. Once I started, I never looked back, never had nicotine withdrawal, nothing. If you want to…

Amazing. Moving.. Your son is a lucky boy to have a dad like you.

Cut out all carbs (breads, rice, pasta, cereals, oatmeal, wheat, corn, peas, beans, potatoes, sugar, etc.). Stay between 1200 and 1400 calories to start, and see where you are the first week. The carbs in tomatoes and avocados or garlic.. that's ok. Those are good carbs. Eat anything else you like. I did this and lost 4…

I would just like to add.. that inexpensive cuts of beef and the like are the healthiest for you because they are much leaner. You don't see a cow doing crunches.

YOU are an inspiration. A week ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2. My life completely changed. I'm 45 and have over 60 pounds to lose. Before, I was on a 1200 calorie diet and was losing Maybe a pound every 2 weeks, if I was lucky. This went on for months. Then, in order to control my blood sugar, I had to go on an…

It's funny how everyone remembers the date they quit smoking. I quit smoking cigarettes December 13, 2011. It was the single most amazing accomplishment of my life. But, don't get too congratulatory as far as I am concerned. You see, I switched to the electronic cigarette. In other words, I still use nicotine (although you…

Wow. It's good to know I'm not alone! It's true, I barely know what to eat, now. Everything has changed. Are any of you on a low carb diet? Or do you keep your carbs down to a certain number of grams. My doctors tell me to keep my carbs down to 165 to 175 per day, but I'm reading conflicting reports. Some sites say to keep…

Sugar-free jello always satisfies my hunger. It's Extremely low in calories, is very filling.. but has absolutely No nutritional value. So, if you eat healthily during the day and you still feel hungry, an entire box is only 80 calories (that's a lot of jello). You can also make your own jello with gelatin and your choice…

Yes. Yes. I went through that after 10 years of marriage and 3 children. Don't sabotage yourself to get back at him. In the end, it is you who will pay the price, and the weight will be much harder to lose. It's human nature; I get it. Just realize that, in truth, he will be much happier if you are happy. He can't see that…

Yes, definitely add me! That would be great. I gained all of my weight after my third child. It just never came off. It's good to have my daughter's graduation as a goal, and it's great to have your sister's wedding as a goal. You can do it! One day at a time. I think I'm learning that it's about enjoying the journey, to…

I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm new here, too. In fact, this is my first post. I lost my parents 5 years ago, two months apart... so I hear you, feel you. It's incredible to think how much weight I've gained since then. I need to lose 80 more pounds. I've been on this site about 2 weeks, I think, so I'm just finding my…
