I'll admit to being an emotional eater, but only at work. If I get stressed out or upset at home, food is usually the last thing on my mind. I can get stressed out at the office when something needs my immediate attention and the solution isn't right in front of me. I have access to lots of vending machines and food venues…

WOW...that's amazing ! I appreciate and respect your posting such an honest and inspiring story. You're a perfect example of what can be accomplished in terms of fitness if we really put our minds to it.

Cool...that's exactly what I make every morning for my protein shake/smootie.

Ditto for me...plus a crazier schedule than I'd had before I was 35.

Two of my MFP buds are in the mid 900s. Last year I was less than two weeks from hitting the 200 day mark and missed a day without realizing it. I was bummed. But then shortly after I found (and saved) the following from a forum posting where someone was complaining about their day counter being set back to zero after…

Is YOUR cereal "healthy"? A while back I found a great site available through the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University. The site provides quick and easy to follow nutrional information on lots of different cereals. It also gives great insight into how foods (like cereals) are marketed to children.…

^This. I've never tried Shakeology so I can't provide any feedback (sorry). But I recommend you compare nutritional value and see if you can't make something that's comparable on your own. I used to buy all sorts of protein shake mixes from my local health food store. They were good but expensive and got boring after a…

Great info...thanks for sharing (even if it was just copied and pasted) !

I might've missed it, but how much coffee do you drink every day? And how many days a week? I only drink coffee at work during the week and only in the mornings. I drink it black and do so 90% of the time. The other 10% I use half & half or 2%milk if available. This usually happens if I'm out for dinner and someone else at…

A while back I heard that Breville juicers are pretty good. Best Buy has them. The reviews seem pretty strong but I have no firsthand experiences to share. Good luck.

We share the same birthday -- cool! I'm also trying to break the 200 mark by the day, too. CW=205. Good luck !

My hats off to everyone who has the strength and will power to go out in freezing temps! I live in deep south Texas and people down here (including myself) are really thrown off when the temperature drops to freezing levels. Public schools have cancelled classes when temps have gotten into the mid 20s! My original reply…

Thanks for sharing. I know you're not the only one who is (or has been) in this situation. I agree with others about possible causes for the setback. Chalk this up to a learning experience and focus on looking forwards, not back. You worked hard to lose forty plus pounds and a mere five pounds isn't worth throwing in the…

This is my favorite post so far. I read the OP a day after it was first posted so by now there are already over 7 pages worth of replies, more than I care to read. To answer the OP, I personally wouldn't say anything. But that's because I'm not qualified or credentialed to offer advice on proper lifting techniques. If I…

If there was a "Like" button in MFP (which thankfully there isn't) I'd really 'LIKE" this comment.

Welcome to MFP, FitGoal165 ! I've been a member since April of this year. This is an amazing community and you're really going to enjoy it. I'll be 42 in two months. As much as I'd like to reclaim the body I had when I was 28, I'm happier being healthier and able to still go running and going hiking for several hours at my…

I've been on MFP since April of this year and nobody's ever sent me a friend request. And I'm totally OK with that. Every single person that's part of my Friends List has at one time posted something on a forum that I found interesting or noteworthy. I then sent them a friend request with a short message, usually something…

I joined MFP back in late April of this year. Just yesterday I logged in for my 100th day in a row ! (I was pretty psyched about that). My starting weight was 214 lbs, the absolute heaviest I'd ever been. My current weight is 190 lbs. I hope to lose another 15 to 20 pounds. I read about MFP through a blog I check regularly…

I agree with all the comments about giving yourself a break, enjoying life, not letting your diet control you, etc. But the fact of the matter is that no one's going to force you to eat funnel cakes or deep fried twinkies or cotton candy or whatever else you typically find at county fairs. I'm all for indulging a little…
