Yeah, it does have a chest strap and its got good reviews on amazon, It's a unisex hrm so I'm wondering if maybe its calculating it for a woman (but then again I'm not sure if there's a difference between men and women w/ regards to this). mromnek - according to this website…

As evilras mentioned, the losing weight party will come to an end after an amazing month of losing weight like u wouldn't believe it. Then you may have anywhere between 3-6 months of no weight loss as a result of your body's "freak out" over the dramatic change. I'm in that period right now and as I see it if I want the…

One easy way to get them to peel: After they've been hard boiled and are cool, put them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, the shells will expand at a different rate than the yolk and there will be a gap between the eggs "skin" inside the shell and the yolk such that it becomes extremely easy to peal them. Don't put them…

Thanks for the post, this is becoming a mantra for me. Before I started lifting weights and only doing diet and cardio I was sheddening pounds like nobody's business, but then I started lifted a few weeks ago and the weight loss just stopped dead in its tracks. I'm still eating fewer cals that burning but the weight is…

I'll tell you what's gonna happen b/c the same thing happened to me yesterday. You won't be able to eat back all those calories today and you shouldn't force yourself. What will happen is tommorow you will be extra hungry and eat at least one extra complete meal in your day (try a nice hardy brunch). You will be over for…

I'm in the same boat as you, just got back from the gym, took down a protein shake and milk, and I've still got 999 calories left! I'll have some almonds but there's no way I can make a big dent in that number after downing that shake.

I'm in this group I guess. I've got 9lbs left, but darn it's been hard to get rid of! I was eating at 1200 for a month and lost allot of weight at first but then hit the wall for the 2 weeks afterwards and so I figured I'm starving myself and decided to up the calories. I'm not feeling so good about eating more (feeling…

Yeah forget about it - just ignore that thought b/c it's a lie. Everyone who isn't used to going to the gym has that feeling at first but it passes the more you go. Honestly everybody in the gym is really focused on trying to improve their fitness or the way they themselves look and really wishing that what they are doing…

this is pretty darn awesome! i'm gonna try to do the texas one.

yeah I started strength training on the 19th, I'm doing a little bit of lifting 3 days a week (1 day back, 1 day chest, 1 day legs), trying to get my muscles used to it and minimize soreness.

I'm at 158.7, exactly 0.5 lbs less than I was last week. Well I was expecting to start hitting a wall and here it is. I've maintained a low enough caloric diet, keeping at 1200-1500 cals/day, should be losing 1.8 lbs per week. Being pretty active, getting at least 30 min of some kind of cardio in daily. Perhaps I need to…

YogaRunner - sure I'd be interested in hearing about that exercise for shin splints. The type of shin splints I have are posterior shin splints, they run along the inside of my shins where the shins meet the calves. I've heard that this can be caused by a bad pair of shoes, or bad arches, being flat-footed, etc. I'm not…

I'm training for a half-marathon in the august-september timeframe. Started training mid-january. Just allot of running and/or intervals training, but I'm starting to get shin splints and thinking I need to stop running until they recover. I recently got a copy of P90x and I've been considering doing it but I already lift…

Those are some good ideas... Yeah I've been working out really late. I wait for the kids to go to bed (otherwise they'll try to jump on the treadmill or pull me off or something) and find myself on that thing until midnight, and then I take down protein shake and have a hard time sleeping.

3-4 times a week, first thing in the morning i put on the same t-shirt and shorts and weigh myself on the wii fit... which proceeds to ask me why i didn't see it yesterday and tells me i should use it everyday; so I can't win.

Casper - good luck with the odd looking skateboard thing, I still rollerblade throughout the summer and it's really enjoyable. I'm sure it's less injury prone than playing a game of football or a basketball.

Whoa those are some low calorie menus, there's like 1 day a week where you get to 1378 cals but to make up for it you've got 2 days at 900 cals, and the rest range between 1000-1200. I'm sure you'll lose weight with it considering that the average overweight person probably has a BMR of around 1400/day, and probably burns…

Actually y'know I'd assume its more likely your muscles are retaining water than you are "building" muscle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing that it actually takes more time to build muscle than to lose fat, so it's less likely that you can build up a pound of actual muscle in a week.

I think maybe hollandlop wants the recipe for a dish or snack that contains peanut butter in it. Like maybe a peanut butter pie or cake, or something more exotic. The only recipe I know is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - 2 slices of aunt millie's 35 cal bread = 70 cal - 2 tblspoons of jiff peanut butter = 190 cal - 2…

There are multiple ways to address this, but I'll suggested the most gradual would be to eat a large high protein meal immediately at 5pm, don't let it get to 7pm - start as close to your "hunger" time but a little earlier than it and gradually eat earlier and earlier from there. 5pm, then 4:50pm, then 4:45 ... etc - The…

My advice for you would be to use some metrics other than the scale as the means to determine progress. If you focus on your weight alone you'll find it will seem nearly impossible to lose. I learned this after a couple of weeks that I need a goal that I can measure more reliabily than weight (b/c I don't know why my…

Hmm... you guys are making reconsider my abstinance from coffee. I do like the stuff but I've weened myself off of it for fear of addiction and any harmful effects it might have on my body... now my convictions are in question.

Took that quiz. Turns out I'm a balanced oxidizer. I guess that's good - I'm at 40 c - 35 p - 25 f at the moment...

Mine is 159.2 , down exactly 1.0 pound from this day last week... somehow i'm down 8 lbs from this day last month but i think the easy weight is gone, these last 9 lbs are gonna take some time.

Watch the eggs and cheese. That's what does it for me. I've already over my daily fat allotment, 2 eggs, 2 slices of cheese and a packet of mayo did me in.

The problem is the reference to Muscle or Fat as a singular entity having a particular weight. Take for example this statement: "Elephants weigh more than humans." Is it true? Well it can be, if we make certain assumptions, particular that the avg weight of adult elephants is heavier than the avg weight of adult humans.…

I bought one last year and it's served me really well in the winter months when it's too darn cold and snowy to get out of the house. One thing I've done is put shelf in front of it, put my laptop on the shelf and watch movies while I jogging - it makes the whole experience much more enjoyable and once the movie's over…

You won't need to worry. The same exercises changes a man differently than a woman, even if you did the classic version you wouldn't see the kind of muscle gain that men get via the program. The only thing I can warn you about is with intensive weight training and exercise comes massive appetite. Your appetite will…

thanks for the advice wishiwaskinny, i work from home sitting in front of my desk so i enjoy getting out and moving - i'll go crazy otherwise and there are some days which I feel like I can run one after another - like today actually. But it's good to know that resting for cardio isn't a bad thing. kristen - That muscle…

I run at night - 11pm - 2am ... way after dinner (which i usually eat late at 7-8pm anyways) and I'll drink a little gatoraide or half of a protein shake beforehand - then I'll drink the other half when I finish or a half cup of cottage cheese or nothing and hit the sack - I immediately fall into a deep sleep...
