Some women lose incredibly easily while nursing, some don't. I was one of the latter as well. It wasn't until he weaned quite some time later that I actually saw any changes. At this stage in the game, nourishing your child is 1000% more important than weight loss, if you have to pick between the two. (In my opinion,…

This looks neat, I will check this out, thanks for the link. :) I have a regular gym membership and try to go once a week to do the similar type of exercises you mentioned. I've been simultaneously fascinated and terrified of Crossfit due to horrible experiences with yelling PE teachers in 4th grade and some really…

I have a two year old and a husband who is 6'3 with a very healthy appetite, and since I am the main reason for switching our household to a healthier way of eating, I've definitely dealt with the same kind of issues as many parents here have, I'm sure. What i discovered, though, was that my son loves cherry tomatoes,…

Move the scale, cover it with a towel, write a note to yourself with the date you can weigh yourself on the mirror, or just sing Ah-Ha Take On Me instead! Seriously, you can do it. Train yourself into a new pattern. :)

I've noticed in the last 30 days of eating an as-primal-as-I-can-afford-right-now diet, and keeping my carbs in check, that my skin has gotten clearer, and when I had my period start a week ago I didn't really have any cramps or discomfort. I didn't have full on acid reflux but I did occasionally get heartburn, and I…

You are strong for even getting up, ahead of the curve for trying and a badass for sticking with it. Everybody has to start somewhere, and you did what you could and went for it! I hereby bestow upon you the official virtual "I Lifted A Heavy Thing" badge of courage. :)

Kristy - I've been using this page a lot recently for ideas: http://hollywouldifshecould.net/2012/08/a-month-of-whole-30-dinner-ideas/ I try to avoid the main forums for the most part. Too many posts where people are eating rice crackers, apples, and tofu all day and surprised when they have no energy at all. Shocking! I…

This is my issue, too. I have very high arches/instep area, and my regular shoes were way too narrow. I'm saving up for a pair of wacky vibram toe shoes instead.

I am fascinated to read about the connection between deeper/more stable squats and thinner soles. At home, barefoot, I can do better squats than when I go to the gym. I have wide feet with a very high, flexible arch, and I'm barefoot whenever possible and socially acceptable. I hate my gym shoes (Nikes, bought on sale so I…

That's really impressive!

What about mashed avocado on a non-sweet bagel? I used to love that on sesame bagels. Good luck with your recovery, OP. :)

It's easier for me when I set myself up to succeed and surround myself with people who get it. I think there's a lot of people who allow toxic relationships to sabotage them, and I'd rather have few good friends and be healthy than stay fat around people who won't support me. When I take a bit of time to plan, buy right,…

Whether or not you want children is a private conversation that nobody else can answer for you. The real question I have is why in the world you would want to stay with a man who involves his mommy so heavily in your lives and in your sex lives. You do know that this will be the pattern for the rest of your lives together,…

Some women bounce back, and some don't. If that's your primary concern right now, then it's a valid one. Pregnancy changes your body in ways that nobody can predict, and yeah, it can be scary to surrender that control. Pregnancy is difficult--hell, even conceiving is difficult for many women. Labor is hard. That's why they…

Kira, that's really helpful, thank you for posting those!

I started this in earnest on August 31st, and as of last week have settled on 10% carbs, 25% protein, and 65% fat. In my body I can feel that I am getting close to perfect with this amount of calories and these ratios, and in fact I've had days where I just can't eat any more, and have to eat a tablespoon of almond butter…

I never use Pedialyte. I just don't think that a sick kid needs more artificial things. We usually stick with water, coconut water, or tea. Then again I never had it growing up either, so that was what I did even before I started eating more primal.

Try Panache. They have great support and are well constructed for the larger size range. http://www.figleaves.com/us/product/PA-5021/Panache-Sports-Bra/?size=&colour=Blues Whatever you do, *don't* have her just try one of those tank tops with a shelf bra. That is just asking for pain. If it's possible to sprain a tit then…

I have over five feet of surgical scars on my body and all of the marks you'd expect from carrying an giving birth to a nearly twelve pound baby. I hate them, but all of the marks are a part of me. This is the only body I get, and I damn well better find some pride in it. You can't change your attitude overnight, but trust…

My armpit hair is brunette. Does that count?

I think this article is interesting, and certainly thought provoking, but an oversimplification. It's convenient to take a snapshot of Generation Y--or any generation--at a certain age, and typecast them by the worst traits of that age. But that would be as misguided as saying, well, you know how those kids born after 2010…

I'm totally gonna try that next time. Dude, it's a naked person, it's not a big deal.
