  • Just right here, bill. Whenever you walk, just add your time/distance/steps/however you keep track right here. I'm sure even a "yup I did" is sufficient.
  • 3.9 miles today, the first mile was 18% grade up-freaking-hill. In my nerdy LOTR walk from Bagend to Rivendell, I've recently finished supper on day one and have started walking again.
  • If I didn't already have a plan for this week's lunch (collard green and black eyed pea soup http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/collard_green_black_eyed_pea_soup.html sans bread, on top of polenta), I would recreate the salad I just ate for lunch today in a jar. From the bottom up, it would be: -1 tbsp olive oil (or flax…
  • Good for you for getting back, Greyhoundskinny. I've been chipping away at this for about 5 years now. I find it's not how much I stop, but how many times I start again. One suggestion I picked up from elsewhere is to make sure I do a 5 minute break for every hour I'm sitting. And use that time to walk to the furthest…
  • Nicely done, everyone! Brookej, I like your goal. I wonder if I can find the Lord of the Rings walking distances again. (I'm nerdy. What can I say?) I had my phone in my pocket the whole time I was having a walking date with a friend, her puppy, and my dog. That was kind of impressive... 9497 steps, 5.1 miles. Weird.…
  • andi, that sounds tasty
  • There. I aired out the dog. I set my timer for 30 minutes and walked down to the waterfront. When it went off, I turned around and walked back home. Three and a half miles. 6800 steps. It's nice to have a sunny day in the winter to start things off here.
  • I recently figured out my phone was automatically tracking my steps for me. If I remember to put it on when I go out for a walk, that would help! Speaking of, I suspect the dog would appreciate some outdoor time. Also, I could use some new friends, so feel free to send me a request. :)
  • Freezer Almond Butter Fudge... blew my mind! So tasty and super satisfying. http://ohsheglows.com/2015/06/05/salted-almond-butter-freezer-fudge-everyday-detox-cookbook/
  • "As terrible as it is, if you feel like you can't talk to her about everything anymore, you need to find another therapist." Or talk to her about WHY you feel like you can't talk to her about everything anymore. While I have been fortunate to have not lost a therapist through death yet, talking to my therapist about things…
  • seconding the bialys My spouse had to make an exceptional side trip to get them. It was totally worth it and I'm glad he did.
  • You're doing the good hard work and it's paying off! Way to go!
  • How did I not see this thread before? 5'10.5" with "good birthin' hips".
  • Is it a bad thing? Absolutely not. Even though you might have difficulty meeting your daily goal, you're getting the bigger picture of how different food choices affect your big, long term goals.
  • Not sure if you've seen this cookbook before. It was made by a nutritionist to help people who receive SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program, formerly known as food stamps in the US) stretch their food budget while maximizing nutrient density.…
  • Tomorrow is June 1st... Great time for me to start over again.
  • Yum to see some of the things that have shown up here while I fell off the MFP (and life in general) wagon for about 6 months. furioushummus, that cilantro lime sounds divine. And whoever made the crack about salads in jars being like the TARDIS just stole my heart! With regard to shaking, yeah... often mine are too full…
  • You're amazing. That's a whole lot of work.
  • heh... kelly, thanks for noticing the arms. They definitely are smaller. When I get back to circuit training, they will also slowly get more toned, too. That happened last summer, then I lost it all over the winter. Hopefully it will come back faster this time. sjbctal, thanks for the encouragement. Sending a friend…
  • Thanks so much meyerliz. In my mind I still look more like the picture on the left. It's nice to have confirmation that I am, in fact, making progress. Even when it doesn't feel like it.
  • I had intentions to start today but ended up having a pajama-knitting-tea drinking kind of day instead. Very definition of sloth, I think.
  • Yay... thanks maria. You got to it before I got back here.
  • By the way, if you're really frugal (like me), a can of diced tomatoes weighs almost exactly 1 pound. I started out with two cans of tomatoes then hit up thrift stores to find 2, 3, and 4 pound weights. I made it two and a half times through 30DS this summer, and am starting over again with the 2# weights today.
  • Hi. Also 5'10" but would be rail thin at 140. Currently at 190, initial target is 175. I've been at this slow and steady but in about 10# bursts for a couple years and am really happy to be mostly maintaining weight and not putting it back on when I don't track.
  • PS- One of the other things that helped was that I took a community college 100-level nutrition course. It helped me wrap my head around nutrition in a useful way.
  • I'm with the people who are saying make one small change at a time. Over time that's how I've incorporated more leafy greens, more whole grains, new whole grains, more legumes and less meat/cheese, and new and exciting kinds of legumes too. There's also a weird but true fact that just recording all of a behavior makes the…
  • *licks screen* That's so good lookin!
  • After completing my first round of 30 Day Shred, I decided my reward would be a food vacuum sealer because I freeze a lot of things. After the second round of 30 Day Shred, (ending today as it happens), I get to spend $60 at Lush on frou frou bath stuff. Soon, I will be rewarding myself with smaller pants. :) The intrinsic…
  • I do super simple... 1 tbsp olive oil or flax seed oil and 1 tbsp lemon juice, lime juice, or apple cider vinegar Also, the tahini dressing for this salad is ABSOLUTELY hands down one of my all time favorite dressings: http://www.budgetbytes.com/2014/05/falafel-salad/
  • If you lined up all the female bodied people in the world and took the average of all of our heights, the female group average would be about 5 feet 4 inches. In fact, if you lined up all the male bodied people in the world and took the average of all their heights, the male group average would be about 5 feet 8 inches. At…
