  • My dog is Buddy. I had a second rescue dog that my mom recently adopted. His name is Roscoe. My husband's police K9 is Aron.
  • Holy three year old thread resurrection. Batman!
  • Statements like this make me lose hope in humanity's ability to think and reason... Either that or I must give you props for your extreme mad sarcasm which has fooled a lot of MFPers.
  • Not sure what just 1 mile would be...but I run a 5k in just under 30 minutes. I could probably go a lot faster for just 1 mile, though. I've been getting faster each week by doing Fartlek track sprints, tempo runs, plyometrics, and weight training every week.
  • Fitbits are not good at anything other walking or running when it comes to exercise. They are glorified pedometers, not heart rate monitors. Most people will use a good HRM for other cardio activities as a better estimate. I personally run with a bluetooth HRM synced up to the endomondo app and my Fitbit so it counts…
  • Many food items on the website are listed in those alternative ways (other than grams). However, grams is actually waaaaaay more accurate than cups, tbsp, etc. Why not invest in a food scale? You'd be surprised how much you are really eating.
  • I have 3 different races that I am signed up for (or will be soon): April 19th - 5k Bunny Run May 3rd - Coleman Camo 5k November 2nd - 5 Alarm 5k (this one is open to anyone, but there are special categories for police, fire, and ems workers and I want to grab one of those po-po prizes for myself, lol) I have lots of…
  • In just so I can have kitteh GIFs on my newsfeed.
  • I purposely have the most carbs of my day 2-3 hours before my workout. Oatmeal and strawberries on running days, for example. Without this, I get cranky, have horrible headaches, and burn LESS calories than usual in my workouts because I have half-assed them due to lethargy, crankiness, and headaches. Don't over think…
  • Regardless of what day the calendar says it is, I always log my foods from waking up to going to sleep as the same day. I deal with this on third shift at work as MFP wants me to split my meals up onto different days. I just ignore the calendar day name and log everything on the same day if I was awake to eat it.
  • You can't spot reduce. Eating fewer calories than you burn off in a day will get you to lose fat, but you can't choose specifically "belly fat." You don't even need to exercise to accomplish this...however, exercise does make it easier to burn more calories than you eat and allows you to eat more. But any exercise that…
  • Nope. The only thing that would stop me from eating bread is if they cooked it with onions. Onions are disgusting.
  • It confuses me as to why someone would gladly spend the same amount of money that I spend on over a week's worth of groceries on little plastic containers and sub-par workout DVDs just to have something that "inspires" them to learn about portion control. Why not... Actually learn about calories and macros...why your body…
  • Interesting. How about a study that shows 100% of obese people drink water. Therefore water causes obesity. Yeah. Sounds as legit as the article.
  • Don't limit yourself to some stupid number on the scale. What is it REALLY that you are not happy with? You want to lose more fat? You want to gain more muscle? I believe THAT is what you should focus on and don't worry so much with what your weight is.
  • I'm 5'4.5" tall, and my goal weight is whatever I happen to weigh when I look a certain way in the mirror and feel/look/am healthy and fit. I know, probably doesn't help much if it's not what you want to hear. But it really is liberating to simply workout and fuel those workouts with good nutrition if your goals are…
  • I would purchase a good HRM that counts calorie burns and log it manually accordingly. MFP numbers tend to be highly inflated anyway.
  • She was talking about you need to hypothetically burn off 3500 more calories than you eat to lose 1 pound of fat...not a 3500 calorie deficit daily. At least, I *hope* that's what she meant.
  • Still trying to figure out why you are so concerned with weight loss? I'd pick a different goal...fat loss, muscle gain, faster running speeds, whatever...I mean, I am seriously puzzled as to why someone your size wants to lose weight at all when you are already athletic? But we won't know what to change about your diet…
  • I'm confused as to why someone who is my height and 20 pounds lighter than my "after" picture in my avatar "needs" to lose weight... Why are you so concerned with that number on the piece of scrap metal sitting on your bathroom floor? Or are your goals not really "weight" loss but actually "fat" loss which is actually…
  • Wait...you've lost 67 pounds and you think you are doing something *wrong*? You're obviously doing something right, so just keep doing it...
  • Every agency is going to have different standards, but where I work we had a short PT test prior to the academy and one at the end that we had to pass to even graduate. Here, the initial test was a timed course with running, sit-ups, push-ups, and stair climbing...basically wanting to make sure you had enough endurance to…
  • It sounds really good! But... I'm confused as to where to find berries without sugar?
  • Yeah, that's another thing that worries me. I printed them all out and made actual albums, plus some are in frames, and they are all on my computer and original disc that I bought from the photographer. So what's the big deal with 4 pix on Facebook when they are all over anyway? She hasn't mentioned the other locations.
  • And I was going to quote someone else who was talking about where to draw the line and how it would be forever and ever like without ever being able to send cards or say hi in the mall... (but I couldn't find the post and didn't want to read through the 3 pages again) I was going to quote that because she kind of IS doing…
  • My husband honestly doesn't care one way or the other about the issue. He said that he would leave it up to me and that it doesn't bother him at all. He did mention that he thought his mom was being stupid and childish... So, yeah, I'll just untag her and make the custom changes to those pictures like I mentioned before…
  • Sounds like a plan. Untag her and then do this to the total of 4 measly pictures out of a couple hundred that she had to hunt and search for to be offended on a random day in February 3 years after the fact. That way she thinks they are gone...and thinks she got her way...but the rest of the world who doesn't actually care…
  • Juicing is a fun and tasty way to "eat" more veggies. But it gets a bad rap when people use them for "cleanses." I frequently juice stuff because they taste good, but I add it to all my other delicious meals and make sure to get all the protein, fat, and fiber that juices don't have.
  • Oh wow, 3 pages of responses. :blushing: Thanks for posting all your comments and I will be reading through them tonight. Goodness, I didn't expect 3 pages. Thanks everyone!
  • I do this. I have loads of recipes for tasty tacos, burritos, burgers, chicken sammiches, etc. that I have at home which fit better into my calories goals without much fuss. But on the otherhand, if I really want a BK cheeseburger, I get one. ONE. And then I go on with life.
