  • YUM! Those look great! :) Thanks!
  • I love this idea - I'm always snooping through people's diaries to get new ideas for food choices! I'm open to anyone looking at my journal or adding me as a friend :) Keep up the good work!
  • Fantastic job! You look amazing - I can only imagine how good you feel! Thanks for inspiring me to keep going
  • Yeah - I agree with Lean. I would log it. If nothing else, just to be accountable and consistant. However, if you tend to dwell on things and beat yourself up (like I do often) then maybe you should just try to forget about it and remember that tomorrow is a new day. Just keep plugging along, you'll get there.
  • Glad to see other people hate slow days too. I'm cursing myself for picking up 5 hours of OT on top of my shift tonight... 15 hours is a longggggg time. 1600-0700. But the money is good. I'm also nervous for weighing in tomorrow - it'll be my first weigh in on MFP. *crosses fingers*. I guess no matter what the scale says,…
  • I do NOT eat my exercise calories. When it comes to eating (or not eating) exercise calories I've found its a very hot topic here. I have a nutritionist (who actally set me up on this site) and she told me not to count the exercise calories. Based on the amount of weight I have to loose my calorie goal is 1800 a day. And I…

  • My food diary is open to everyone if you want to see how I do it. I just act like I'm "normal" haha. My saturday starts when I wake up at 3pm and ends when I go to bed at 6am (sunday morning) but I log all my food under saturday. I don't get caught up in the real hours. Works for me!
  • Yep - just got to reading all the responses - we've been going straight over here! A very exciting bar close for Friday night. I feel for you all who work in hospitals! I just keep sending them your way! :) I've found the preplanning really works well for me (especially for the beer on football nights Lee!!) I use to…
  • I usually have trouble on my "weekends" too Lee - even if they don't actually fall on saturday and sunday. Days off are tough for me. I guess I'd try to stay busy and maybe plan what you're going to eat,and when at the beginning of the day. That can really help me stay on track. Lately I'll plug what I plan to eat into MFP…
  • Anyone working this Friday night? I'm dispatching for fire/rescue tonight - its a little slow. I always hear my stomach more when I don't have as much to do! But I can only eat what I brought, I guess that is the good thing about being strapped to a desk! Monday is my first weigh in since using MFP - I'm hoping it will…
  • I took wednesday off - wasn't planning on it but my calves are SOOO tight! I can barely walk without shuffling haha  But I sucked it up today and just did it. I was surprised at how much better I able to keep up! Maybe because I knew the punishment ends eventually  really loving how I feel after I'm finished.…
  • Phew - day one down. I have to be honest, it was harder then I thought. I have been working out for a couple months now, walking, lifting some weights, biking, etc. So I thought I'd be able to keep up, but the cardio stuff was hard for me! Jumping up and down is NOT my favorite! haha I had to modify those parts a bit, like…
  • I tend to do those things too Lean. So far I've done well. I've resisted the kitchen haha. Everytime I want to go for some chips I just think about how I'll feel after I eat them. Funny how I don't want to be at work when I'm there, but when I'm home I wish I was at work where there are fewer temptations. I also just spent…
  • You are such an inspiration to me!!!! Congrats on your success so far - all your hard work really shows. You're beautiful!
  • I have the night off tonight. I'm feeling SUPER lazy. It's going to take a lot of inner strength to stay out of the kitchen. I plan to do a home dvd workout (30 day shred). But other than not, nothing planned. This always seems to be my issue, nights off. At least with a day schedule you can go for a walk or run erronds.…
  • AHHH LEE! I'm so glad we share the pain of being in "man" land. The free weight section is scary with all those grunters etc... I got to a Planet Fitness, mainly because its 24 hours so I can go work out at 2am. Which I have ALSO found is the best time do to free weights because no one is there. I always get embarassed…
  • Hi Ryan! I'm new too as of a week ago - I'm addicted to this site. I've spend a lot of time going through the forums and getting to know the site. There is a TON of information and support on here. I really like being able to view other peoples diaries - it gives me lots of ideas for healthy food choices. Good luck with…
  • Wow congrats Drea! That must be so rewarding - lots of hard work it looks like. LeanMass -Thanks SO much for that chicken wrap recipe. The main reason I started seeing a nutritionist was because I have a lot of trouble coming up with healthy things to eat. Espcially coming up with more then just one thing haha. I grill…
  • Hey Guys! So, Zumba - WOW. I was very overwhelmed, but it was awesome at the same time. The instructor was CRAZY - but in a good way. She is this little 5'0 ball of energy. I have NEVER seen anyone move like that. (by the way she had "special" zumba pants that had streamers on them so everytime she moved...they moved...…
  • Sounds like it went pretty well for all of you shredders who started today! Congrats for getting through it!! I did Zumba today (you wanna talk abou sweaty! PHEW! I'm bringing a towel next time for sure!) Tomorrow will be day 1 for me with the shred. I hope I survive. SW 231 Neck 13.5 Chest 44 Bicep 15.75 Waist 35.5…
  • I'd like to join too - I work overnights though - so most of my posts will come in the wee morning hours! Great idea! I really need the motivation - just started and already feel all sorts of emotions, overwhelmed, scared, excited....
  • Haleighallen - I'm doing Zumba for the first time tomorrow. I signed up for a 5 week class at my local gym. My sister did it and LOVED it. Its a latin dance class thats designed for fitness/weight loss. They do sell home dvds too. The class is suppose to kick your butt by doing dance moves to fun latin music. If you search…
  • I'm in! I doing Zumba tomorrow, so I'll start Tuesday. I'll post stats soon too. And has anyone seen Biggest Loser... Jillian is SCARY! Hopefully she'll be nicer in the video  heehee Haleighallen - you don't own a scale?!?!?!? You go girl. I have an ISSUE with the scale, I use to get on like 8 times a day. And the…
  • Thanks! I also rediscovered eggs... (wow thats sounds funny to say). Once I started tracking everything I was amazed at how many CARBS I was eating - WHOA - way too much. And I did have much protein at all. So I started changing my breakfast - I would normally have a bagel, which is like 50-60 carbs and now instead I have…
  • Hi all! I'd like to join this page as well. Cheilsea, I totally get where you're coming from. I moved to a new state about a year ago and have had a very hard time getting to know people. I moved with my boyfriend and I feel like we've become hermits! It also doesn't help that I work an overnight shift so I sleep during…
  • MMmm I like shrimp too -- but I've never actually cooked it for myself. I had no idea how important protien is to loose weight/be healthy until recently. Once I started calculating it I realized I am WAY under what I should be. Just had some tuna for a snack... How you do guys get in your protein? Any good food ideas? -Meg
  • I go through phases of working out but lately I've been able to stick with it. I've gotten up to jogging 1/4 mile without stopping. I try to get in several 3 mile walks a week with my dog, and the gym when I can. Now that I've read this post you've all got me excited to try working out at home! I've tried it before but…
  • Hey Allie - sorry to hear about all the stress you have! EEK! But I know what you mean. It's amazing how our jobs affects weight gain and loss. And the fear of getting yelled at really sucks. Sorry! But keep it up, you're doing something right to have the weight loss that you have already! As for "running" while sitting…
  • Thanks guys! I can totally see where youre coming from - there is a TON of stuff to read on here. It's incredibly encouraging to know there are other nightshifters out that have the same struggles that I do. With all the blogs and message boards, I'm really hoping to stay out of those big chairs! haha
  • Hi all - Just joined this website tonight. I started seeing a nutriontist 2 weeks ago and she set me up on this site. I've kept a food journal before, but never online. I've worked the night shift for the past year in a emergency communications center. It's definitly been a rollercoaster. First just getting use to a…
