  • Working right now! I'm a dispatcher. We sit...allll day. I'm jealous that you all get to run around! To keep myself full I drink tea. I usually bring string cheese, turkey pepperoni for some protein, chocolate vitatops if I need a chocolate fix, and fruit like grapes. It is tough to get the engergy to get up and excerise…

  • I'm 5'6 and my starting weight was 231. I started at 1800 calories 50g of fat and 220g of carbs. These numbers were set up for me by my nutritionist to lose 1lb a week. She advised me NOT to eat my calories back. I assume if she wanted me to be eating back my calories she would have set my goals lower. Now that I'm about…
  • At work and surfing MFP - Found this post labeled "Why the Scale Lies" posted by Superwmn. Long but very good!!! Hi, I found the following article, it cleared a lot up for me, thought I would post it here as it might be enlightening for others....... Why the Scale Lies As a personal trainer I’m constantly warning people…
  • We're stuck on 3rd shift until the more vetern dispatchers retire haha - and they're holding on strong! We work 10hour shifts with basically no breaks. We eat at our terminals and typically have to eat very fast for fear of the next call. Thankfully our terminals can go up and down so we have the choice to sit or stand.…

  • I'm a dispatcher for both plus police. The schedule and stress can be crazy at times. I work 3rd shift and it took a while to get my eating and exercising on a schedule that worked!

  • Hope everyone is still going strong without the scale!!!! I have a drs apt on Wednesday but I'm going to ask if I can step on backwards and have them not tell me. Hopefully they'll be able to do that for me! If not I'll just shut my eyes! Happy April Fools! I go into work at 8p tonight, I'm still trying to think of a good…
  • I love this idea! I think I'll also weigh in once every two weeks once the challenge is over too!
  • Thanks everyone! Its great to know there are some fish lovers out there!! I'll try the other suggestions too!! I'm off to go get my salmon bath ready
  • When you're down some pounds you're going to be SO glad you took them. Trust me. I was happy to see the numbers go down but totally floored by the hard core photo evidence!! Good luck and congrats on taking control!
  • Oh, and as for advice (if being an inspiration is enough  ) Bring a friend along. I always feel stronger with a good girlfriend by my side!
  • Couldn't have said it better!!! I started jogging both at the gym and outside a few months ago. My pants ride up my crotch, I breathe heavy, I sweat a TON, and I probably look like I'm close to death...but I'm proud!!!! I'm doing it!!!! I can run further now then I ever could! Just did a mile for the first time a…
  • Hi all, Sorry I've been a bit MIA - As some of you know I gave up the scale for lent. I'm not religious, but some of my MFP friends and I are using the time frame to go scale free! I was weighing in several times a day and it was getting to be mentally devestating since I was in a plateau. The last time I was on the scale…
  • Yep I'm still here!!! I've been having trouble the last couple of days... I'm REALLY wanting that satisfaction of seeing a lower number. What's odd about this is I'm PMSing.... it might be a little dramatic but I'm starting to wonder if my urge to weigh myself when I KNOW my weight will be high is a way to tell myself that…
  • Once again, perfectly said. Congrats on your accomplishment - gotta love those droopy drawers haha - I'm THRILLED for you! The number on the scale has NOTHING on you. You're rockin' it.
  • Take them for sure!! Wear shorts and a tanktop -- you'll feel akward but take a bunch: front, side, back - everything you can think of. I am SO thankful I did - I recently hit 20lbs and I can see a big difference when I look at them. HUGE motivator - especially when you hit that dreaded pleateu....for being an inanimate…
  • I also go over on carbs just about every day -- AND I have mine set high to begin with. I'd probably be losing more if I could put down the fruit, bread, pasta and potatoes but I can't!!! I love them too much! Well, I'm still losing - so thats what matters :)

  • I do have to admit, although I was bummed you "sinners" (lol) got on the scale I was floored by your results!! Woohoo!! Infact, I do have to thank you both for falling on the sword. Just as you said, it helped affirm that I know what to eat and I know how to workout. Just gotta do it and let the rest happen!
  • I think its so interesting to read about how some people feel less accountable and therefore are eating poorly and some are the complete opposite and find it MORE motivating without the scale. Crazy how different out mindset can be. I really hope things change for those of you having some issues - I LOVE it idea of puting…
  • Sounds like you are in the right place!!!! Welcome!!! I just started jogging too!! (also on purpose for the first time haaha) I'll send you a friend request :)
  • What a great point to bring up. I'm critical of myself with negitive things too - like if I go over a bit on my fat grams I think "Well, I screwed up (again) might as well have that piece of cake". Silly silly. We should all go a little eaiser on ourselves. The effort that it takes to change our eating and exercise habits…
  • Well, today (Monday) is my normal weigh-in day. It felt weird to not get on the scale. This has been the longest I've ever gone! WooHoo! Today was also a measurement day, I measure once a month, and I didn't do well this month according to those numbers. I lost 1/2 inch on my waist and stayed the same everywhere else. But,…
  • Fan. The only problem is now I'm addicted to it and I can't sleep without it going!
  • Totally normal - in fact if you lost a pound while having your period I'd say you're going to do GREAT next week. Usually I stay the same or gain a pound the week of my period and the week after I lose close to 2 weeks worth of weight. Sucks being a girl doesn't it!
  • Bah this last month has NOT been good for me. I'm totally addicted to weighing myself daily, and sometimes multiple times a day. So I found a challenge one of my MFP friends started, giving up the scale until Easter. EEK! So far so good - I'll share with you the same thing I just posted on there: I feel totally refocused.…
  • Looks like most everyone is doing well! Keep it up!! I feel totally refocused. Just these last 5 days not weighing in has made a big impact on my thought process. I'm only a day or so away from logging my food for 180 days straight on MFP. About a month ago I got to a place where I was too comfortable. I'd lost 21lbs, my…
  • Well, today was easier then I thought it would be. I'm acutally kind of shocked. I think at this point, going through this plateau, I'm actually relieved to not have to face the damn thing. I think my freak out will come in 2-3 weeks when I'm really hungry for results. But, so far so good! I love reading everyones post - I…
  • Confession. Stupid, dummy, pain in my *kitten* hubby did NOT do as he was told last night and hide the scale  . So, I just woke up ( I work 3rd shift and sleep during the day), sauntered into the bathroom, peed and hopped on. :noway: GARHGHHAHCHGDGECH:noway: , so mad I could SCREAM right now:sad: . As soon as the '0'…
  • Phew -- this thead is going to be amazing, I can just tell - we're all stark crazy in the first place for having scale addicitons and now we're all taking it away, together!!! I was cracking up at a bunch of the comments - mostly at where people are hiding their scales haha. As for me, we have a loft at my house, the only…
  • OH I'm so happy for you!!! I can't even tell you how many zumba related posts I've put on here haha, I guess I should buy stock in it because I LOVE it. I go at least twice a week. Sounds like your situation is very similar to mine when I first started. I was fairly new to my area back in september when I started and I…
  • I'm in! :) I'm going to realistically shoot for 20 days and if I can surpass that goal I will! Otherwise it'll be a 1/2 way check in. I'm looking forward to this challenge to get my mind to reset and start setting goals that don't have anything to do with a scale. I ran a mile for the first time in my LIFE on Saturday so…
