I have a polar, and on the days that I swim and run (total 2 hours) I will burn 1,200 calories (as per my HRM). So 1,000 is possible - depending on what you are doing, how hard you work out, and how long. Normally I burn about 600 an hour swimming (my everyday exercise.)

This is what I have. I'm a 32 DD, so I was SO happy to find a line that carries my size! It doesn't look like my grandma's bra either, ha. I bought it at Fleet Feet (a running store).

Crockpot! I make split pea soup, chicken noodle soup (I omit the noodles - don't really need them if you load up on the veggies), beef stew, asian chicken soup, and minnestrone soup. I also have mama's concoctions, which is basically whatever I have in the house. The last time I put the following in the crock: - sliced…

LOL Lauryn - that was my first question too, ha!

Yep! It could be worse tho - drink your water and it'll all be fine :flowerforyou:

Start offering him rice cakes every time he walks by.

Stir fry is pretty forgiving - you can't really go wrong with it. I usually cook my meat and veggies separately - so I'll heat up a couple of TBS of EVOO and cook my veggies (can be anything - eggplant, carrots, sprouts, snow peas, celery, onion etc. Everything needs to be sliced THIN so they cook fast. No potatoes - they…

Let me know how it works in the crockpot! Did you add any water/broth?

I was going to say the same thing! Stir fry and burgers, ha! Also, crockpotting is excellent - you can make batches of beef stew or whatever and freeze in serving size containers. Then just pop in microwave for dinner. Other things that I like to make when I'm alone (a rare luxury, really): - Egg-white omelette with sun…

Keri - I didn't know that about the electric blanket! Also I was reading on another site that iron deficiency can also lead to poor temp regulation. Maybe that is something (I don't eat a lot of meat - I'm not veg, but just not a hard-core meat person). Seriously - I don't know why I am so cold if I'm not exercising.…

3 miles (after a 2.5 mile swim). Saw three deer in the field where I run (cross country track) - gorgeous sunny morning, and everything is green and crisp after several rainy days. No place I'd rather be. BTW - for some reason I run better after I swim. If I start running "cold", it seems harder to push on. I would think…

 I like how you think!

I just use EVOO and vinegar and crumble cheese on top (gorgonzola, blue, etc.) This way I still get the cheesey taste I love without the mayo-based dressing. Works for me!

Awww Mrsyac2 - sorry to hear that you're sick! Take it easy and hope you feel back to your usual fabulous self soon :flowerforyou: I swam for an hour and ran for 30 minutes today. Lately I've been really cold, esp at night time. I had to pull out the electric blanket and set up on high to get warm last night (on top of…

The thing about the chiro - it seems that everyone I know who goes, has to KEEP going. So...I mean if they "fix" you, then why do you have to keep going back? It's not a "I'd like to go back" (like a good massage), but "I NEED to go back or I can't function" kind of thing. I'd rather not start something that will become a…

I would definitely count that as exercise, but without a HRM it's hard to say exactly how many calories to attribute as exercise calories. If it were me, I would probably log 500 (just to play it safe).

I buy Trader Joe's organic, unsalted PB. The only ingredient is peanuts. I keep the jar upside down in the fridge, so when I go to open it - no messy oil to deal with. You want to keep some of the oil otherwise it gets too dry. My kids love unsalted PB - they think the commerical kind is too sweet and salty,

What's wrong with being honest? Just say, (jokingly) "I'd love to go out, but I'm a poor college student, you know - so can we do coffee or something a bit more budget friendly?" Chances are he will reply with something along the lines of "No worries, I got your dinner." No games, and no hurt feelings (or wallets)

My oldest two are girls - ages 10 and 8, so I can relate to your concern to make sure our daughters understand what and why we are pursuing a healthy lifestyle. I always tell them that the goal is to be healthy - the focus is not on losing weight. I explained that someone can be "bigger" but healthy, and another person can…

Thanks Dave! Yes, I know Von's well - grew up in Ventura County  I'll check whole foods since safeway does not carry it.

Where do you get your sprouted grain tortillas? I usually just buy whole wheat pitas from Trader Joe's since tortillas always seem to have stuff added to them.
-
Three kids here - so I know what you mean! Use the croockpot - start it in the morning and you will have your meal (plus a couple more) ready by dinner time. By making your own soups/stews - you have total control over sodium (can add none or just a little). Drink your water and move (walk, swim, etc.) Hang in there - it…

I've always been curious about veg/vegan lifestyles - but haven't found hard, scientific evidence of significant phisological advantages to completely doing away with all animal products - everything seems to advocate for moderation and leaner versions of the animal product. I understand the humane aspect of it, and try to…

chopped veggies, whole fruit, nuts, pitas and jar of peanut butter, and dark chocolate  These are some things that would not need to be refridgerated. If you have a cooler, then you can also bring along some hummus, cheese sticks, lean meat (turkey or chicken), yogurt, and such.

My son had acid reflux as an infant too! Oh man - it was NOT fun. Poor guy would sometimes throw up in the middle of the night (while still sleeping) and we would not find it until the morning and it would be all crusty (sorry, tmi)... ack. I had to wash his carseat, bedding at least 3 times a week. Finally the doc put him…

I'm in Northern Cali... Didn't get up this morning since Wednesdays and Fridays I can sleep in (work out in the PM since DH is home to watch the little one). I'm feeling blue today - not sure why. Weather? I'm so tired of rain, rain, rain. I'm a SoCal girl - I need some surf and sun... I love here it in the summer when it…

Swimming. Use a pull buoy between your legs to keep them from dragging, and only use your arms. You can use paddles on your hands for greater upper body work out.

I swam for an hour this morning and ran for an hour as well. I'm lucky my job is fairly flexible, so when I don't have morning meetings, I can come in a little late. According to my HRM, I burned 1233 calories - not too shabby. (I'm training for a marathon). I do have to get up early to get exercise in (I wake up at 4)…

Umm.. I've been running for two weeks, lol (I joined a running program). I plan to do a half on May 3rd, and the full is in December. I'm a swimmer and I hike a lot - so I'm in shape. I just am not very good at running yet
-
I ran 6 miles today in the rain - shoes, socks and legs are covered in mud. LOVE IT! Took me about 50 minutes. I'm pretty new runner - what pace should I aim for when training for a marathon?
