  • I agree with Dave. And if you get a crockpot (priced reasonable - 20 to 40 dollars), you don't have to be a good cook or need to be stuck in the kitchen cooking for hours. Once you make the change, you will wonder how you ever ate that other stuff before. :flowerforyou:

  • Just to give you a point of comparison - I weigh about 138-140 (5'4" tall) and I burn about 900 calories from 2 hours of exercising (this is swimming for one hour and running off road for one hour). I wear a polar HRM and is programed with my stats, so it picks up my HR (which averages 150-160, with max of 189). So 1,000…

  • It's doable, but you will need to honestly track everything you eat and get used to eating less (since exercise calories will go away). Can you swim? Usually MD's let folks swim while rehabbing - ask your doc. This way you can still burn some cals and maintain some muscle mass while recovering.
  • Now that you mention it Lauryn, you are right. My hubby tried to set up the camcorder during my last delivery (vaginal) and doc said no way, have to turn it off once we start getting close to push-out time. Interesting.
  • I LOVE the baby photos - very Anne Geddes
  • Yes, you can wear it all day. Some people wear it all day on a "rest" day to get a baseline of how many calories you burn just being alive, then you know how to factor exercise calories vs. baseline calories burned.

  • I never heard of this, so googled it. It looks like nutri-system and those kind of programs where you have to buy their food. I have no opinions about the program, not having tried it or known anyone who has. My mom has done Jenny Craig, Nutri-System, and all that stuff countless times. She still struggles with her weight.…
  • Ok, so I had never heard of GWF before, and did some quick research. If you google "go wear fit reviews" you can pull up amazon and other sites where people reviewed this product. Apparently GWF looks like the body bugg (seems to be made by the same company, not entirely sure), but you have to pay a monthly fee to get your…
  • Awww sorry to hear that Babiecuddles! I've struggled with asthma all my life - I have a nebulizar at home for emergencies and have ended up in the ER for adrenaline shots, and been on steroids more times than I care to remember. Just FYI - I've tried a variety of preventive inhalers over the last few years, and it was not…
  • Not running today, but Saturday did 8 miles and Sunday did 4 miles. Today is rest day, whew.
  • I agree - my philosophy is give advice only when asked. Otherwise MYOB, lol. On a side note, I am a swimmer, so I'm used to the locker room changing thing and walking around with hardly anything on - so changing while talking/being in same room as other people is not a huge deal for me. I do believe that some *personal*…
  • I think I used 4 cup of basil leaves, 1/2 cup olive oil, 5-6 cloves of garlic (I love garlic!), 1/2 cup parm cheese, 1/4 cup pine nuts. (edited basil)

  • 2 mile swim and 4 mile run this morning. I have a noobie runner joining me now, and he was trying so hard to keep my pace - I told him to set his own pace, but you know men, lol. He was dripping sweat and I was praying to god he would not have a heart attack on me! I trail run, so it is not like I can flag down a…
  • I think it is fine - your cardio would be spaced out during the day and is not really that long. I usually do about 2 hours of cardio a day when I can - I do that when I feel like it, and it has worked for me. Now if you were doing 3 hours a day, and wanted to add 3 more hours or something - that would sound like too much.…
  • I'm 32, and do I hit a HR of 189 when sprinting or working hard. My average is 150-160. I have a polar, so that is more accurate than the machines at the gym. If he feels fine, and can carry on a convo - I'm thinking the machine may not be reading his HR accurately. An MD check-up is always good - better safe than sorry :)
  • I'm so sorry you lost your BFF - **HUGS** I can't imagine what that feels like. Please surround yourself with positive, supportive people and do what you need to get through this. :flowerforyou: I do know what it feels like to struggle with an ED - I struggled with bulima for decades. It's ironic, but I learned "how"…
  • Not haters - just expressing personal opinons. :flowerforyou: Whatever floats your boat and works for you!

  • You are absolutely right! It's a bean, yeah??
  • Swimming. You can do reps with kickboard (work out your legs and build muscle with zero stress on joints), and laps, etc. I burn about 500-600 cals an hour through swimming.
  • I don't like connecting a negative action (not eating) with being healthy/skinny/not-obese, etc... Healthy - to me - tastes wonderful  (the healthy food that is, not healthy people  ) My favorite quote is: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly Plants. (Pollan)
  • Stair climbing exercises are good. I take my son to the park, and do reps of stepping up on the park bench while he plays.
  • LOL!! Too funny! I love the Sunday paper one - wow.
  • I run off road and all that stuff. I have some Mizunos - love them! I also have non-cotton running socks, and they are awesome. Good shoes make all the difference. Go to a running store and have them outfit you with appropriate shoes - each person is different, and what works for one may not work for another.
  • I always thought that most veggies were better for you (nutrient-wise) raw. I think cooking denatures some of the nutrients, but I haven't researched this yet. Why are tomatoes better for you cooked? I know that some veggies NEED to be cooked - like yams, potatoes and other tubers. Other than that - I think raw is best but…
  • OMG!!! That would have been my first question - how does he know that??? 12 years old?? :noway:
  • I work in government - statistican. I like my numbers
  • Me too! Ha!
  • Me too!! Pillowcases on the bed have to have the "open" ends pointing out, and the flat sheet must be on "backwards" so when you pull the sheets back to get in bed, you see the "nice" side of the sheet. (My poor husband still doesn't get this. He's like - who is going to see this? I'm like ME! That's the only person that…
  • I've hit 187 while swimming hard sprint sets sometimes, but as long as it drops down fairly quick, I'm not worried about it. I think 189 is my all time high, but I tend to stay in the 150-170 when exercising.
