  • One of my dear friends is a dietitian and I've learned a lot of interesting facts from here. For example, eating below your resting basal metabolic rate makes you hold onto fat and makes it more difficult to lose weight. She had an obese client eating only 900 cal a day, and she would still gain. The whole "starvation…
  • I don't know if this is helpful for you at this stage, but after you heal up a bit more you might try these ideas. i have struggled with this off and on, and I have found that stretching my calves daily helps, along with standing on softballs, Try a couple of super-soft ones first, but make certain that they have a solid…
  • thanks everyone! I really really appreciate the feedback! I will make an concerted effort to change my routine. Again, thank you all!!!
  • Do you like to cook? I find that makes a big difference. I like to make a big batch of soup on the weekend to have all week. Split pea soup with rind of parm cooked in with it, maybe some cream added and definitely some Parmesan and chopped red onion to top it is simply fabulous. A nice hearty minestrone, perhaps a creamy…
  • In the winter months I always use coconut oil topically, and it is especially effective on my daughter's eczema. Even better, no concerns about baby (now toddler) eating the lotion! You may not have this concern, but if you ever get a kid around vaseline, terrible terrible things happen!!! So I use this now, instead.
  • I'll share a solution that tackles a couple of those solutions. Look up "Pajama Workout" on YouTube. Its a free video done by a trainer intended as a jump-outta-bed-and workout kind of a thing. no special equipment required, and if you run through it twice you do 15 min of some great work to start your day!
  • Well, I have three: soft chocolate chip cookies, bacon, and wine. I can't walk away. I'm completely taken by these things. All three in the same meal is heaven!!!!!
  • Welcome! Each day is a new day. Take your gain as helpful info about what works for you and what doesn't, and KEEP ON TRUCKIN'!
  • oooh! that looks good! Thanks - it'll be a lunch option for sure!!!!!
  • Your in Austin? i knew you looked cool... I'm in Austin too. I can't do the Turkey Trot as I'm making the T-day dinner for about 16 people, but my friends and family who do it each year say that's great. A real relaxed, party atmosphere. A friend of mine who does not work out does it with her kids in strollers, and…
  • You look so great! and how awesome to see such a concrete representation of the success you've had! Thanks for sharing - you really motivate me! I'm going to go for a walk now!
  • wow! Thanks so so much everyone! I'm so looking forward to this! I'm off to friend you all...thank you thank you!
  • Hi there, I'm semi-new as well, and looking to lose about 20 pounds. I need motivation to stay with the program and keep logging my food! I'll send you a friend request maybe we can boost up one another!!!
  • Welcome! Just a quick word on fish oil... Its one of the few supplements that has been proven to have a measureable positive effect in peer-reviewed studies. Most brands are comparable, but you might take the time to buy one that says "no fish burps" on the label...for obvious reasons. Mercury contamination can be a…
  • Hi there! I have a pretty similar story as well. I'm at about 156 and looking to lose about 20 pounds, though 15 is more realistic. I workout maybe twice a week, but trying hard to find time for more. I enjoy pilates, running, biking, and chasing my kids around. As far as eating goes, I'm doing better about intuitively…
  • I'm pretty new too, and struggling with structure and consistency. I need to lose about 20 pounds, and each one is sooooo hard! But I'm here and doing my best! Hope to see you around! I'll send you a friend request!
