Choosing the right bike largely depends on how you want to ride. Here is an article that does a good job of sharing the differences in bikes. I would say take a look at this to get an idea with what type(s) of bike you are interested in and after figuring that out you can head out to a local bike shop and test ride those…

Wowie -- this is looking like one heck of a group so far. Cool to see so many new faces along with the usual suspects as well.

I am going to stick to the same goal I had last month and shoot for 250-300 miles. October is an interesting month in MN weather-wise so this month should be a fun one.

My leg seems likes its finally back to normal and its let me get out the past few days to ride some singletrack. Over the past couple months I struggled getting past a particular rock section and last night I finally figured it out. That might be the culprit. If you find yourself sliding forward you are more than likely putting more pressure on your hands to keep yourself in place. You might be presently surprised once you tilt it to level.

@kcjchang most impressive!

@tcaley4 Do you use gloves when you ride? Do you move your hands around when you ride? Is your seat level, tilted forward or tilted back? There are a variety of things that can cause numbness... grabbing the bars too tight can be a main culprit as well. Often times a seat that is slightly tilted forward can cause extra…

Welcome @reckert73 that's a great goal and one hell of a first post! Good luck on your goal and welcome to the forum.

Thanks @saphin -- I went for a 6 mile ride last night and ti was the first ride without any pain whatsoever. I decided to ride to work today and I didn't have one issue during the 10 mile ride -- I think its coming around. I wasn't stretching at all over the past few months and I think that was a big factor in the injury…

@Ohhim Rockin bike sir. Sorry to hear about the crash -- we are all going to dump our bikes at one point -- you just got yours out of the way as soon as possible =)

Awesome to see all the goals that popped on in the past day and quite a few new people as well. I use a 300 lumen head light and a really bright tail light (both by Cygolite) that is quite bright if I'm riding when its dark. In the winter I use an indoor trainer and put a trainer tire on my current bike (one that can…

I have a hurt leg from last month so this month I am going to be taking it a bit easier. My goal for the year is 2,500 miles and I have only 233 miles until I hit it so I am going to shoot for 250-300 this month while trying to heal up my leg.

Nice work everyone! I just created the Sept thread which can be found here - http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10244836/september-2015-bike-bicycle-cycling-challenge?new=1

@chaos2k Kyrptonite makes one heck of a lock and it is a ulock. Ulocks are harder to break than a typical cord lock. You typically want to get the smallest lock you can as it makes it harder for potential thieves to get something in between the lock and the thing holding your bike to try and break it.

Everyone on here is rockin it! Nice work everyone! I came across my first cyclocross race yesterday... my bike is originally a cross bike that I put road tires on. I think next week I might swap out my road tires to my original cross tires and give it a spin at the races. It looked like a great group of riders and…

dang. you guys are all inspiring... I'm happy to be part of such a great group on here.

Hey @glitzy196 -- congrats on the weight loss and for understanding that you can lose weight based on CICO. You made your point clear and it got blown out of proportion. For your Oreo diet take a look at this post of an artist that makes pictures out of frosting on Oreos -…
