That's great that you're doing all that! I'm a little envious of all that energy! If you keep up the hard work exercising and keeping an eye on your diet, I think you'll find the weight will start to come off. Remember slow and steady wins the race. Good luck!

I'm still new to the program. I was extremely sore the first couple of times, but since then I haven't been very sore. When I was really sore, I read up on some tips to reduce soreness and learned that by upping your protein and really putting in a good warm up you can help decrease some of the soreness. I've been upping…

Since this was posted on the Thyroid board, I just thought I'd add that I personally wouldn't take anything that interrupts metabolism if you have a thyroid condition without permission from your doctor. Since our metabolism is already out of whack, it's a little scary to introduce things that further interfere with its…

Good luck! I hope your doctor's appointment goes well and that you finally get some answers. I know how frustrating that is! Unfortunately, I don't have any advice, but I can offer loads of encouragement! Remember that if something isn't jiving with that doctor you could always try to shop for a new one. You want to find a…

I just have a few questions to get a little bit better of an idea. How long have you been on this new workout schedule? Also, how frequently did you weigh yourself between those fluctuations? I also really crave salt and my weight fluctuates a lot because of it. I do try to watch my salt intake through the food diary, but…

Since you have more wiggle room with your carbs, I think if you can fit it into your daily carb goals you can try it and see how it works for you. Some people react differently to different types of carbs. If you can fit it in and can tolerate it, then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. You can always stop eating it…

tangal88 summed it up perfectly! I love all the pictures and examples. Thanks tangal for a beautifully well thought out reply!! :flowerforyou:

Permanent contacts? I never heard of them, but they sound interesting. I have night and day contacts that you throw away monthly and have never had any problems with them. I'm interested in getting lasik one day...

That sounds different and delicious! What type of flavor does caribou have? Today's meal plan Lunch: Leftover butternut squash soup with toasted walnuts, side of tomato and mozzarella Dinner: Baked ranch chicken breasts with a tomato bruschetta, sauteed brussels sprouts, and corn on the cob (Nothing like fresh corn and…

If you decide to do Atkins, make sure you read the book and become educated on how to do the program properly. It can very easily be sustainable in the long term if you follow the different steps. The induction phase which everyone usually refers to is a short period of the program. Also, there is a very active low carb…

Very true! Just because you're vegan or vegetarian doesn't mean you're eating healthy foods. I have a friend that is vegan and complains about her weight when she is always eating potato chips, french fries, lots of pasta, and breads. Hmm! I don't know why you have problems with weight! Just goes to show we all can make…

Since you mentioned your phone, maybe you can set an alarm notification on your phone for a set time every day as a reminder. I used to do this when I had meds that I was supposed to take at a specific time (ex. every twelve hours). Most phones have an alarm option that you can repeat every day and often put a note on it…

Oooo, that looks yummy! I'll have to try those!

First time posting pictures...So I'm sorry if I goof! I'll try to fix it. I was excited that I was actually able to cook today so I thought I'd share my experiment. Today I made a buttered, beer shrimp with spaghetti squash and green beans. 16 net carbs for the meal (if you don't end up drinking the rest of the beer you…

Wow! Amazing progress! It's nice to see how much of a difference 15 pounds can make! Thanks for sharing and way to go!

I think that every person is different and that you need to follow the advice of your physicians (nutritionists, PCP, and neurologist) that are trained to handle your situation. I think you should focus on the symptoms at hand. If they are interfering with your lifestyle that means something is up. Speaking from…

Thank you everyone for all of the encouragement and advice! I was able to get up at 4:30 4 days this week and work out for a bit. Unfortunately, I woke up today with Hashi symptoms so I skipped the work out this morning, but I hope over time I will be able to do 5 days a week consistently! I just pushed myself a little too…

This thread made me laugh. I always wondered how girls got hit on at the gym. I, myself, look like a drowned rat when I'm working out - completely not attractive, haha. I agree with the other commentors. It is probably normal and I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having other symptoms. Just make sure you're getting…

That sure is some strong motivation!! I hope your coworker gets back on his feet soon. You're taking the first steps to making a change by being here and acknowledging that yeah, that's scary! Maybe that was the kick you needed to really get your health on track! You can do it and you have a wealth of support here on MFP…

I follow a lower carb (50-70g net) plan for my health reasons. I always find it useful to read other peer-reviewed, medical research and I look forward to seeing what you post later. I'd rather read the sources than some reporter's take on the study, which is usually biased. Thank you for taking the time to pull together…

I weigh every day and log it in excel. I only weigh-in on Thursdays of a new 'plateau'. My weight fluctuates daily, but I like to see the trends for my Hashimoto's just so I know if my levels are getting quirky. I would like to point out that my weight loss graph looks like a heart rate monitor at the hospital with the…

I'm with LowcarbNY. It's probably just water weight or normal body fluctuations. Ibuprofen is known to have fluid retention issues. I weigh myself daily and track it in a spreadsheet (mostly because I'm a nerd) and it looks like I'm tracking my pulse on a heart rate monitor at the hospital when I graph it. If you notice…

Good tip! I recently started mixing in chocolate protein powder with cream then adding my coffee. (I've heard some people say you shouldn't have it with a heated beverage, but it's a recipe on the powder's website so I figure they must have something to back it up and either way it is better than sugar.) Good way to boost…

Welcome back! Congratulations to you and your new hubby on your wedding!:drinker: I hope you had a great time on your honeymoon! I can't wait to see the pictures of your success! Congratulations on your successes so far. That's a great accomplishment!

Thanks for sharing the photos! You look gorgeous! I'm trying to tone up for my wedding in October (it's coming up so fast!) and just to get healthy.

I have this problem. When I get stressed or upset I want to eat everything in site. I've learned for me that it is more about the act of chewing. (I also clench my teeth.) For me it really helps if I grab a piece of gum. Others on here will say this will hurt you. But in my case, I’m not hungry or craving anything I just…

Thanks for the tips!!:flowerforyou: I'm going to really push this week to start working out in the morning.

It sounds like you need to find a new doctor! That is sooooo frustrating! Refresh up on how to find a good doctor (http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/how-to-find-a-good-doc/) and go on the hunt for a doctor that will actually treat YOU and not the tests. On the plus side, at least he was willing to prescribe you armour…
