  • These are your TDEE estimations: Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1678 Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1922 Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2167 Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2412 Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day…
  • That's really picking holes. It really depends on how the entries are measured on the database. If I buy a pack of something that has two servings, I weigh them, make sure the portions are equal, then log it as 'half a pack'. Doesn't mean it's not weighed. There's also entries in there like '54g cucumber', and '22g salad…
  • Did you read the OP at all? It quite clearly says that she does weigh everything and she uses a HRM. I can burn 727 cals in 123 minutes of walking, easily. It depends on your size and the amount of effort you put into it.
  • This is a very good point. You didn't mention in your post how long you have stalled for? Fluctuations are totally normally and weight loss is not linear. 8lb in 8 weeks is a good, sustainable weight loss.
  • Your best option here; measure out a serving and fit them into your calorie goal. Or Bin them or give them away if they are too much of a trigger food. Or Just eat the lot and move on.
  • Christ, there's no need to jump down her throat like that. OP, can you open up your food diary? That will help.
  • For a minute I thought you were talking to yourself there! One of you should change profile pictures. Very inspirational and an amazing story. Well done. :flowerforyou:
  • Yes. Try to look at your calories as a weekly allowance rather than a daily.
  • No. Fat does not make you fat. I did slimming world for a long time and lost the same stone over and over again. I have trouble understanding how fruit and veg can be a 'free food', let alone heaving piles of pasta. It's great for recipe ideas but in terms of weight loss, it makes no sense. Also, MFP is free. :flowerforyou:
  • How tall are you? To be honest it sounds like you just need to lose body fat rather than weight, by your comment about 'toning up'. I'd recommend ditching your scales and swapping some of your cardio for heavy lifting. You'll get the body you want long before you get to the weight you want.
  • Could you not substitute the bread for the gluten free variety? To be fair I don't know what it tastes like, but might be worth a try. As for the eggs, I make scotch eggs for breakfast. You can make a batch of them and grab one on the way to work if you are always in a hurry. They are good for about 3 days in the fridge. 1…

  • You can eat anything you like provided it fits into your calorie allowance. Adding a bit of protein to it will help keep you more full, though. I find just pasta leaves me ravenous after a couple of hours.

  • How many calories are you eating?
  • Get rid of the mechanical scales. I have a set of fairly expensive scales which do the same thing as yours. In fact, every scale I've ever owned has done that too. Weigh yourself once a week, at the same time of day, while nekked, and take that number. No jumping on and off and moving the scale. Also, don't forget to take…
  • This is why you are not losing weight. If you want it badly enough, you will log your food, you will measure and weigh your food, and you won't have 'cheat' days - they aren't necessary. You've also lost inches - would you rather measure your success by the way you look, or by a random number on a scale that only you see…
  • If I have to pick a ready meal, it would be M&S. Pretty good on protein, 'normal' ingredients. The downside is the same as all ready meals though; they are nearly all very high in salt, small, and expensive. If you struggle with time or motivation occasionally, why don''t you take a couple of hours on a weekend and cook…
  • You have to be prepared for a small weight gain normally up to 5lb, while your body restores your glycogen levels. It's completely normal and happens to everyone, and it will make no difference to your appearance. Try not to get hung up on it. You should also up your calories slowly, I think you'll find it easier. Someone…
  • It looks ok for one day, but if you were to eat this every day, you would quickly get bored and you'd be low on protein. Try and mix it up a bit.
  • Beat me to it. At least I asked rather than assumed.
  • Are you applying this philosophy to every single overweight person in existance? If so, you are incredibly judgmental and close-minded.
  • Comments like this really irritate me. People with an alcohol addiction, or a drug addiction, receive sympathy and help. People that have an eating disorder such an anorexia or bulimia, receive sympathy and help. Turn that eating disorder round though, and make it someone that has a binge eating disorder, and suddenly that…
  • I completely agree with this. However, I still have a hard time distinguishing between the two, so it wouldn't work for me. You also have to bear in mind that even if you could listen to your body very efficiently and only eat when you are hungry, there is still a possibility that you could under or over eat depending on…
  • Don't feel disheartened. I didn't notice much difference in my body shape at first either. You could well have lost visceral fat, which is far more important.
  • You said that the last time we had a disagreement. Am I going to find you hiding in my bins? Stalker!
  • Every time I comment on one of these threads you quote me and argue/disagree with me. We will never agree. Can you not just leave it, or put me on ignore?
  • You again! Can't you leave me alone?
  • What exactly would you suggest people do that aren't losing on 1200 then? Lower their calories to 800, for example?
  • I know you said you didn't want maths, but it can't be avoided. 11lb of fat is 38,500 calories. For you to have gained that in fat, that's what you would have needed to overeat by. If you ate the 1600 every day for the last 4 weeks, you've only eaten 11,200 calories more than you were at 1200 a day. So you haven't gained…
  • I don't eat lasagne any more. It's too high in calories for me to even contemplate fitting it in as I've tried the 'just have a small slice and plenty of salad' approach - that doesn't work for me and lasagne. And any attempt to make it lower calorie makes it nasty.
