  • I use stevia -- the best and only brand I like is SWEET LEAF. You can buy it on Amazon if you cannot find it in your area. Whole Foods usually carries it.
  • sorry to hear it's such an uphill battle. how are you feeling? are you having any symptoms that are congruent with hypo or hyper? if it were me, and if i felt as badly as i did when i was diagnosed, i would push the doctor's office to keep the appointment. then again, if you're feeling okay and only worrying about the TSH…
  • I also have hashimotos, but I'm not pregnant. I don't have any ideas as to why your TSH rose .41 points, but it sounds like it's still within a normal range for TSH. Did your midwife look at Free T3 and Free T4? The TSH gets higher the more the pituitary has to work to turn on the thyroid. I'm sorry I don't know more about…
  • This website has super duper yummy low-carb pancake recipes, among other tasty delights. Found the link on another message board thread... e n j o y http://www.proteinpow.com
  • Welcome to MFP! So happy to see you online and hoping you make lots of friends to help keep you motivated! :)
  • Of course you are having these feelings. You just went through a serious loss. And health is a serious and sometimes confusing matter. I am so sorry to hear about the death of your daughter's friend's mom. I hope you find the support you need. At the same time, I hope you can appreciate the fact that you are here -- on the…
  • hi, this is something i debate a lot, and i'm not sure what to do yet. i'm new to the site and trying to figure this out, among other things :) here's a link to a trainer's blog that helped me: http://body-improvements.com/resources/eat/ right now, i eat back about 50 - 200 of my exercise calories. really depends on the…
  • hi, sorry you're going through this. i have hashimotos and really get it. you have every right to call a specialist, and based on the concerns you have, i support you in doing so. it's impossible to know what they will think (you asked if they will think if you are overreacting), however if the specialist does think that,…
  • Hi, i tried to check out your photos, but photobucket says the account is private? could you please repost the link? maybe i got it wrong. or if you have a password and still want to share the pictures, please let me know what it is. thanks and congrats in advance! M
  • Welcome to the site! Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate -- especially about the pictures. Feel free to add me to your friend list. I turn 40 in June and already my hormones are completely dysfunctional. I have Hashimoto's and was diagnosed in my early 30s with hypothyroid, so I know all about it!
  • I hear that you feel very in touch with your body. While that's a good thing, there can be many causes for the body to feel like it's falling into a hypothyroid state. I hope you will get the lab work as soon as you can. Detecting the miniscule (or sometimes large) changes in thyroid can be challenging. It's almost like…
  • My doctor considered the pituitary, but because last spring my TSH dropped to 20, she said that meant I don't have a pituitary problem. She may, of course, be wrong. If my TSH doesn't simmer down, we'll have to look more into it. Also, my growth hormone is "perfect" and a little on the high level. It's four points over…
  • thanks for posting the list. i used to eat soy for all my protein (and a few legumes). i was a vegan, and during this time, i became hypothyroid. i try to avoid soy and raw goits, just like you mentioned. wasn't aware that strawberries and peaches cause goiters! wow. thank you for passing that along. very good to know!
  • did your doctor lower the meds because you lost weight or because your lab results showed you were starting to become hyperthyroid? i would be concerned if your doctor lowered meds just because you lost weight. that's not reasonable. for all s/he knows, you lost weight because you're eating healthy. i realize you're not…
  • i've been hypothyroid since 2004. as well as i know my body (and i think pretty well), it's virtually impossible for me to determine my levels. there are many symptoms that fall within both hypothyroid and hyperthyroid -- such as insomnia, hair loss, fatigue, muscle aches and pains. to complicate matters, i have…

  • i've been on armour since 2004, when i was first diagnosed with hypothyroid. since then, or well, since 2009 when the formula was changed, i can't seem to get my levels right. so yes i am familiar with armour. i love it but not as much as i used to -- i miss the old armour.
  • Thank you for asking this question! It's something that is a real issue for thyroid patients, especially those taking Armour -- obviously ;) Prior to 2009, when Armour ruined my life and changed the formula, I used to chew my Armour. My levels were PERFECT. But then, well after Armour changed the formula, I fell into a…
