  • Yes, I've gotten it too, and before I was even out of the overweight range. Everyone also says I don't look big enough to be a size 12, but it's the size I wear. It really must have something to do with perception. As long as you're a healthy weight and your doctor is happy with it, I wouldn't worry about it.
  • I've used various combinations of the following (I tried to delete what's already been mentioned): Fat free cream cheese, Torani syrups (made with Splenda, sold by coffee creamers), Sugar free jello mix, Swiss Miss Diet Hot Cocoa mix, cocoa powder, frozen fruit , unsweetened coconut, various extracts like coconut, almond,…
  • ^^^This. I've been researching this subject for a while now – not that I'm an expert, take my opinion with a grain of salt just like any other. We live in a weird time where there's a ton of information available, but no real way of knowing what's actually true. If I believed everything I read, I wouldn't be able to eat…
  • I'm 5'6, I started at 226, and now I'm at 146. I just reached goal, so I've been working up to my maintenance calories of 1690 according to MFP. For the past week I've been at 1600 a day. At first it seemed like I was eating sooo much, but I got used to it real quick. I'm still a little afraid I'll suddenly gain it all…
  • I do this as well. Every night I plan out the next day's meals, adding and deleting things until I come up with the right combo to meet my macros. If I didn't do this, I would never get the right combination. I also prepare my meals the night before as much as I can, even if it's just measuring or weighing things and…
  • Same here. I knew I was over weight, but didn't think I looked as much as I weighed. A photo posted on Facebook told me different! Egads! Where did that plus sized chick come from??? But that was a year ago, and now I'm 80 pounds lighter. And it is fabulous!
  • I also had a problem with bingeing on nuts, and one thing that has helped me is to buy the unsalted kind. I take one serving to work in my lunch, and eat them for an afternoon snack. I don't like them as much unsalted, but at work when that's the only thing I have to eat, they seem to taste a lot better. But I don't get…
  • I struggle with compulsive over eating as well, and I think you're right that finding something to keep busy is the best way to fight it. My toughest time is in the evenings after work. So far I work puzzles, do my nails, read, and plan out my meals for the next day (as well as cook them). I'd like to start doing something…
  • When I enter a new food, I google the calories & nutrition facts for it first, and get a few different sources for the info. That way, you can decide which is most likely the most accurate entry.
  • At first I had a lot of trouble getting my water in, but I kept at it and eventually it became easier. There were times where I felt like I was forcing it down and it kind of gagged me, so I started just working small sips in as often as I could. Now I get my 64 ounces in easy, and usually go well over that most days.
  • After I get home from work and eat dinner (which I keep quick and simple, like scrambled eggs, or smoked sausage and steamed vegetables), I begin planning my meals for the next day. I enter it in MFP and make sure I have the macros right, then I prepare it that night. I do pretty easy stuff that can cook while I watch TV…
  • I would check in with your doctor as soon as you are able. Sudden weight gain can be a symptom of different medical problems, so it would probably be a good idea just to be on the safe side.
  • Also, I now get to be a cougar.
  • Well, I'm 42 and I finally got back to a healthy weight. If all the men on earth think I'm now too old, I still want to be fit because it feels good. :-)
  • You raise an interesting question! Would people work so hard to be fit, if it didn't also make them more attractive? If being fit made you unattractive, would you bust your butt everyday to do it? Hmmm... I think it's human nature to want others to find you attractive and appealing. But it is also true that you'll never…
  • I like to add either cottage cheese or fat free cream cheese to vanilla protein, almond milk and berries for a cheesecake type shake (you can also add canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice for a pumpkin cheesecake). For chocolate protein, I like to use unsweetened chocolate almond milk (makes it really creamy) and either…
  • Question. If a diabetic can go through life without giving in to the temptation of cake at a birthday party because it will be harmful to their health, why can't a binge eater do the same?
  • I've lost 75+ pounds by cutting out flour, sugar, and other high carb foods. In my experience, there was definitely a connection to these foods and cravings. But I haven't figured out yet if it was the highly processed foods that were the problem or the carbs themselves. But regardless, it has definitely worked for me!…
  • I've found a few different brands at the grocery store in the baking section. It's usually by the flour and Bisquick. That's where I've seen it anyway. :-)
  • I use them to supplement my daily fiber. I recently tried them in a recipe for crackers and really liked it. It consists of ground flax seed meal, parmesan cheese, water and garlic salt. You just mix it together, press it flat and bake in the oven. I eat them with a meal like salad or with fat free cream cheese for a…
  • Wow, it's interesting how much people vary! Some people who weigh more than I do are a smaller size, and some are the opposite. Just goes to show how different we all are. I'm 5'6" and weigh 153. I wear size 12 US, but that's because of my big ole hips. My waist is more of a size 10, which makes for a gaping waist band…
  • Same here! I think that often.
  • Low carb has worked for me, but I believe it is because it has helped me keep my calories down, thereby causing a calorie deficit. By cutting out things like sugar, flour & white rice, I no longer crave them like I used to (which caused me to over eat). Whether this is because they were high carb or processed, I don't know…
  • I found it was best to treat it like an addiction, and work through the withdrawals until I got to the point where I didn't crave them as badly anymore (and it DOES happen). I've been doing low carb for the past 8 months, and it's been hard, but I no longer crave them like I used to. I started very low at 20 a day, then…
  • I forgot bacon! I don't eat much at a time, but I like it to flavor green beans and spinach, or with eggs. Lately I've been getting the Oscar Mayer Fully Cooked Bacon - you don't have to deal with all the grease.
  • cottage cheese fat free cream cheese fat free greek yogurt string cheese almond milk red peppers celery zucchini yellow squash egg beaters sugar free jello Johnsonville SmokedTurkey Sausage Frozen strawberries and blueberries Frozen broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, green beans Frozen chicken Jimmy Dean Turkey Crumbles Eas…
  • I like DaVinci Sugar Free Egg Nog Syrup (made with Splenda). You can put it in skim milk, or my favorite way - a vanilla protein shake with a little nutmeg on top. It tastes just like egg nog to me, and adds no extra calories. I ordered mine online.
  • I've been doing low carb and have found it to be a real eye opener. I think the reason for that is because I was so dependent on carbs before. Once I cut out all the high carb foods, I had to learn to build my meals around lean meat and low carb vegetables. It took a while to break the dependence, not to mention convincing…
  • Bump! I'm 5'6 and my goal is to get to 150 and then reevaluate. When I get home I'm going to try the links and see what my frame is. Thanks for posting this!
  • Wow. This is the 4th post I've seen about this sort of thing, and it just blows my mind! What is wrong with people? People like that have GOT to be really messed up in the head - really low self esteem or something! He is probably an extremely unhappy person. I like what you said, but I wish you hadn't let it stick with…
