After I dropped from 260 to 145lb, I admit my skin didn't just snap back as quickly as I hoped. I tried not to advertise this fact so instead wore clothes that covered all my bits, but fit appropriately. I also always try to look professional/well put-together at work… (FYI: eventually the skin did start to catch up with…

Everything shaved/trimmed as needed, every other day. Never know when you're gonna land yourself a hot date or a trip to the ER. :embarassed:

Sadly, I'm in the same boat! (6wks out w/broken fibula). I, too, wanted to try swimming as soon as the fiberglass cast came off, but I also had the same realization about getting thru the locker room and into the pool. To prepare for certain upcoming changes to handicap accessibility laws, many large pools have invested in…

Trek's are always a good bet - the Madone 4.6 & 5.2 WSDs are quite lovely builds for the money. You may also look at Giant's Avail and TCR series (the women's TCR Advanced was Bicycling Mag's 2012 Editor's Choice) and Felt's ZW series (Felts often appear beneath many women Olympians & world champions). Some other…

There are lots of better sports bras out there nowadays. Even for us smaller gals. Some have distinct cups, mesh panels, back closures, anti-microbial fabrics, cool styling, and all that jazz. IMO, many regular bras are often a bit too delicate for sweaty, high intensity endeavors. Just something to consider next time…

Congrats! You finished Day 1 strong and ready to do it all over again. So, Mother Nature decided to be uncooperative. Rain outs are understandable - it's not supposed to be a total hell. Hope to hear you're back out there for your next double century soon.

I    my Roubaix. Have had it since 2007 and it still rides like a dream. Went w/SRAM Force (yr 1 before Red existed), std double, Fulcrum Zeros, yadda, yadda... I'm not big, but I can be rather abusive on bikes (it's hard to break the MTB habit of jumping things I shouldn't.) She's so steady. Never…

Thinking about your post a little bit more.... I also do a lot of long-distance rides. I went with a full carbon frame that's well known for its steady handling and "plush" road feel. I bought a Specialized Roubaix Pro frame (men's) and then did a frame-up build so I could hand pick the components for performance & fit. I…

IMHO, I don't put too much stock into women-specific geometry. I used to think that the frames were different, but after looking up the detailed frame specs for men's & women's bikes from several major manufacturers, I realized the frames were often exactly the same (just different colors) and the handlebars, saddles,…

Yay, herbivores! I'm a freshly minted lacto-ovo veg w/the occasional sushi lapse. (Argh, vices.) Glad to see so many long-term veg/vegans here.

FWIW, I gave up diet soda last October (having quit regular soda years ago). When I went from 260+ down to 150 lbs, it seemed like my hunger never subsided - we're talking years after losing the weight. When I switched to "maintenance mode" after the initial loss, my weight slowly crept back up to 170 (where I am now).…
