PMS?

Oops...sorry, I should have done a search before posting. I still think it's interesting. And yes, I agree with your point. That's the first thing I thought when I saw it -- that going from fad diets (yo-yo) to eating "normally" will of course allow your body to find a better balance. I also thought of the fact that…

I'm stuck too, and it's frustrating as hell. But to be absolutely honest (with myself), I've been eating too many calories and probably overestimating my burns. I don't like getting super hungry...it makes me irritable and distracted...so I'm trying very hard to focus on eating more protein and fiber to fill me up. It's…

Oh and Tusker beer...and Bitter Lemon...two things I do miss about Kenyan "cuisine." LOL
-
If you can eat three cans of soup a day for the rest of your life, go for it. But if you want to be healthy and enjoy life, eat real food.
-
I lived in Kenya for five years and you're not going to eat much rice and fresh vegetables, especially if you're living in a rural area. You're going to eat lots of ugali, nyama choma, sukuma wiki, chapati, and, if you're near Lake Victoria, lots and lots of tilapia...all of it fried in vegetable oil. To drink: chai, made…

No, but I'll try that next time. I'm guilty of not warming up....once I've decided to go on a run, I'm very impatient to get started. So now I have four new things to do: 1. banana 2. warm up 3. stretch more 4. foam thingie. Thank you! :)
-
Thank you, that site is very helpful. I use one of those foam things at the gym but not every day. I guess I'll just have to be more diligent about stretching and massage.

This is why I can't weigh myself every day. Those daily fluctuations make me crazy. When I get "stuck" on a plateau, I take a good, hard look at myself and then admit that I haven't been logging every little thing I eat. Honesty and accountability...it's a *****.

Interesting. I've been obese for 20 years and I've never had high cholesterol, insulin resistance (or diabetes), high blood pressure, etc. Not saying I WANT to stay obese, nor do I think I could have stayed healthy had I continued to be obese into my 50s and beyond, but this is certainly an interesting way to explain the…

Thank you for your input. I'll keep working on them. I do love getting stronger! Makes me feel badass. :smokin:

I've seen that pic before but I guess I never really thought about it in terms of how, say, 100 lbs of excess weight can look on different people according to body composition. Amazing!
-
Deadlift 90lbs, squat 60 lbs. not very consistent w abs bc I hate working on them
-
I didn't realize you wanted a detailed explanation. It's the kind where you're in the TRX thing, suspended by your feet, facing down, hands in position like for a plank or a push-up. The motion is like you would do with a wheel, only instead of your hands moving, it's your feet. Not only could I not hold the basic plank…

I haven't but I will -- thanks!
-
Just that I do well at every challenge he throws at me -- often better than he expects, but anything involving lower abs I can't do -- TRX planks especially.

bumping for more opinions
-
Thanks for the reply! So if I force my lower abs to adapt, I can strengthen them despite my c-sections. :) Yes, my work requires me to sit at a desk for hours every day. I know body types and shapes vary greatly, I was more surprised at the weight differences, since the 5'6" 250lb woman is MUCH bigger than I ever was...

The fitbit is really just a sophisticated pedometer, I was disappointed to find, so it doesn't register softer movements like elliptical and biking. You can stand there and wave your arms all day and it will register 0. It's only calibrated to count steps.

huh?

The reason I would consider this a treat and not every day food is bc (1) it's cold and wet and I'm not going to go set up the grill in the middle of winter and (2) I'd have to go to the store and buy the whipping cream and haul out the mixer, and I'm too busy today. :) edited to add: (3) I don't drink wine every day --…

Sure you can lose weight eating nothing but processed, rubbery french fries, but wouldn't you rather lose weight eating real food that tastes good? I just don't understand the "McDonald's as a treat" thing. To me a treat is a grilled steak, a big salad, a couple glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon, and fresh fruit with whipped…

Many posts here about food addiction ring true for me. Brandolin11, I hear what you're saying about abstinence foods. I used to be a cake junkie – anything cake-y and sweet, really – muffins, donuts, whole Sara Lee pound cakes, etc., with a few pies and cheesecakes thrown in. I'd start my grocery shopping normally and with…

2 questions: 1. Why force yourself to eat something you hate? 2. When you say you hate salads, what part of the salad do you hate, exactly? There are so many varieties of salad, I can't imagine what you're referring to.

My husband is a physician, and, as such, defines addiction as something that is purely chemical/physical. After a period of use (and abuse), the brain comes to physically depend on a chemical in order to function normally. This would be the case with alcohol, nicotine, opiates, etc. Addicts have physical symptoms of…

I was waiting for a table at Cheesecake Factory not long ago, and I noticed they post the calories in their cheesecakes in the glass case by the front door. Luckily I wasn't planning to eat any cheesecake, but I couldn't believe the calories per slice! Granted, the slices are huge (as is everything in that restaurant), but…

My husband got me a two pound box of Whitman chocolates for my birthday (2 weeks ago). I LOVE chocolate and he knows it, but I couldn't help going "oh no, chocolate!" when I unwrapped the box. I asked him to hide it from me but he forgot, so the next day I ate about 10 pieces. Chocolate in moderation, are you kidding me???…

Well I'm not one of your dead weight friends. I quit smoking pot around 1986. Relax.

Even "normal" people have to watch what they eat.
