Smoke pot. Zero calories. Unless you get the munchies. :smokin: haha... But seriously, I cut way back on my drinking, it was the only way. Now when I drink (maybe once every two weeks or so), I go ahead an enjoy 3, 4 glasses of wine and don't worry about the calories because it's a rare thing now. Another plus...now that I…

IMO you don't have to decide now. You say it will take you a few years to save up the money. You're so young, they may firm up on their own over time. After I finished breastfeeding, my boobs looked like sad, wet socks hanging on a radiator, but they perked back up and I was already 41 by then!

If he likes meat & potatoes, give him meat & potatoes. Just make them lean meats and boiled or roasted potatoes, with a few vegs thrown in (think potato salad but without the lard sauce). Lots of fruit to satisfy sweet tooth. Smaller portions. Let him have *some* junk or he'll freak out completely -- say a Hershey's kiss…

Shouldnt he also work on the marriage, or is it all on her bc she gained weight? :noway:

That's a lot of rules. I'd be scared to be your friend.

Ditto what some have said about crappy chain restaurants. Avoid them. How can an Applebee's entree taste the same from one end of the country to another? Mass production and preservatives. If you keep cooking at home and stick to local restaurants with "real" food, soon you won't even like the taste of all that high-sodium…

That's more than a "cheat meal," that's a full blown disorder. If I were you I'd get help for that. I was seeing a therapist who specialized in eating disorders and it helped tremendously. For me a "cheat" is having peanut M&Ms at the movies, not an 8000 calorie binge.

You're going to get a lot of opposing viewpoints on this topic. I had lap-band surgery 18 months ago and have no regrets, but others have had bad experiences. Keep in mind that surgery is not an easy fix -- you still have to do all the same work that everyone else does, but with surgery you get a little extra help. No…

OP, I suggest you take a daily multivitamin. Eating nothing but junk, there's no way you're getting your micronutrients and minerals. Diseases from vitamin deficiencies are nasty, nasty things...take it from someone who has worked in developing countries for 20 years.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I totally get what you're saying, OP. Sure you don't want to deprive yourself of every little treat and you do want to have some fun and enjoy dates with your husband, but this is a crucial time. So many temptations everywhere you look, and you're just trying to get through the season…

If I were you, OP, I wouldn't be able to sustain your new diet for very long, and I would end up going back to bad habits and eating a disproportionate amount of empty calories, feel guilty, and giving up on the whole weight loss thing for another 6 months. (Sounds like I speak from experience....?) If I took a more…

When I'm feeling blah and I need a kick in the *kitten*, I read these forums and other fitness websites. Reading about other people's struggles and successes (and failures) makes me feel like part of a community, a community that cares about fitness and that I want to be a part of. We all have our bad days, even bad weeks,…

Do you have specific examples? Eating disorders are highly frowned upon and if someone is posting pics that glorify them, report it and let admin step in. OR....some people are underweight and are trying to gain weight. OR....weight and what looks good can be subjective. Maybe the people you've seen look fine in their…

I let the number on the scale have way too much control on my emotions and my likelihood for success. So for me, I'm down to weighing about once every two weeks. Even then, I hold my breath and wince as I step on the scale and I try to convince myself it's going to be 2 or 3 lbs higher than the last time, even if I've been…

I would think so! As long as you're not consuming more calories, all that walking will put you at a calorie deficit for sure. I lost 6.5 lbs in 3 weeks without even trying while on vacation last summer, simply because the majority of my days were spent walking around rather than sitting at a desk.

If you like them, eat them. Other ways to make chicken breasts more interesting: salt, pepper, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, lemon, rosemary, basil, parsley, ginger, curry, garlic. Not all at once, mind you...

I don't know what squash burgers are but what about rice or chick peas? I remember a meatless dolma recipe I used to make and squishing chick peas into the mix was great for keeping them from falling apart.

Sounds like a pretty good breakfast to me. About 300 calories, 11 grams of protein. Eating calories after a run isn't "ruining" your hard work, it's giving your body the fuel it needs to function. Of course your 300 calories of oatmeal is much better for your body than 300 calories of donut. :) I try to eat as much protein…

Yeah, it is. I'm just sick of reading about people who don't like to drink water. What's not to like? It's water! You would die without it! It's like saying you don't like air.

I agree that fox news isn't a reliable source, but that list is based on studies that are reliable. Excessive soda intake is definitely bad for your kidneys, teeth, and may even be linked to strokes, high blood pressure, etc. MAY be. But still, like I said earlier, I think we can all agree that water is good for you and…

I know the "scientific evidence" is basically inconclusive on diet sodas. But soda used to be an occasional treat -- now it's the major source of liquid for many, and it's definitely a major contributor to the declining health of the developed world. Why not just learn to drink water? The consensus on water being necessary…

6 lbs down by January 1, try to eat within my macros more consistently, exercise 5 x a week at least.

Ask yourself why you started binging in the first place. In my case it's emotional. Until I started working on my mental processes when dealing with stress, boredom, depression, anger, etc., I always came back to overeating as my coping mechanism. Everyone is different. Maybe you restricted your calories too much and felt…

Not to speak for the OP, but I couldn't run outside in Africa because I attracted way too much unwanted attention, not to mention an entourage of about 20-25 little kids every time. OP, I don't think you need to lose any more weight. If there's something about your body you want to change or improve, try lifting weights.…

Wow, Kat, you are amazing!! You're so inspiring to me. Many of the thoughts you express (on this post and on others) leave me dumbfounded, going "that's *exactly* how I feel!" Congratulations on your crazy success. I'm so happy for you. :) :) :)
