Hmm...ok then. I'd rather be duped by a troll than let someone destroy their health that way, but I hope you're right.

I don't like plain yogurt, but my current favorite is vanilla Greek at 13g of sugar and 120 cals. Not bad. Today, including my protein bar and my Sweetgreen salad, I've had a total of 35g of sugar. I'll probably have a salad for dinner (almost out of calories). My MFP "goal" is 51g but I never track it.

I log every bite. I eat a Wheat Thin, I log it. I eat a piece of cheese, I log it. When I see the numbers adding up it gives me pause.

Is anyone else concerned about @dezz651's weight loss plan?

OP you're from Karachi, right? Typical Pakistani food is very healthy! No need to cut out salt and sugar and spices, or to boil everything. Blech. Just eat what you always eat. Weigh and measure your portions, calculate the calories, and eat less than you've been eating.

A lot of this post is incorrect. 1. A pint of liquor. You're drinking a pint of liquor or a pint of beer? A pint of liquor (like vodka or whiskey) would be about 7 shots and that would be about 1000 calories...is that really what you're drinking 7 nights a week??? A pint of beer varies a lot, but you could estimate about…

I used to drink wine every night with dinner -- I couldn't imagine a meal without it. Honestly, good food just tastes better with good wine. But you're right...the calories add up very quickly at 125 calories for a 5 oz glass of wine. I cut down to just weekends initially...and now I really only drink wine once every 2-3…

Like I just said on the other "exercising while sick" thread, this is just a blip. Don't worry about it. Just rest and get better. I'm curious, what is your job that requires you to climb stairs and carry people down 5 flight walk ups all night?? That alone sounds like quite a workout!

I don't eat Digestives, cranberry juice, Muesli, bread, cereal, salad cream, or coleslaw. Yay me. :)

I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners so I use real sugar in recipes that call for it. I don't eat many pre-packaged convenience foods...I cook mostly from scratch, so I control what goes into my food. I don't use sugar in my coffee. So basically, the refined sugar I consume is from protein bars (daily) and cookies…

quoting myself... What happened to the medically supervised diet?
-
Weigh yourself once a week and write down the number. at the end of 10 weeks look at the numbers. Observe whether they go up or down. If down, just keep doing what you're doing. If up, eat less.
-
Weren't you here a month ago talking about a medically-supervised diet? Whatever happened with that?

Weight fluctuates. Don't base it on one measurement. Track your weight over the course of several weeks and look at the overall trend.

Aw shucks, Carlos, thanks. I can be a real b***h when I feel like it, but I've found that it's generally not worth the effort in forums like these. ;)

What is the question?

A Agreed...well said. Honestly what bugged me most about my in-laws' reaction was just their ignorance, but that's not really their fault. So I guess in that case I was the one being arrogant for being annoyed by it. Ha.

Just answering for myself, here... It's not something I *fret* about but I do find it annoying for personal reasons. My mom is from Ecuador and my dad was French but grew up in Brazil. I've spent a large part of my life in South America, so I have more South American "sensitivities" than most "Unitedstatesians." ;) When I…

Officially it's United States of Mexico, United States of Brazil, United States of Colombia, and maybe more I'm not aware of. United States of America is clearly a misnomer since all of the above are in America. That said, it's not going to change and the majority will continue to call this country "America."

Confused by previous post. sarcasm...got it romeo and juliet reference...got it Still confused.

I know! Throw it in a bog. If it floats, it's made of wood! If not, it's a witch! There, now we can dispense with the whole Imperial vs. metric nonsense.

Thinking about putting the boys in time-out. Can we add the whole "peer review" debate to the list of banned topics please?

As an American with European(ish) parents and who grew up all over the place, I think we should do away with stones and pounds and miles and ounces and get with the rest of the world, IMO. While we're at it, we should get rid of Fahrenheit and 12 hour clocks. "Just because" is not an answer...we can learn new things!

How long is your vacation? Say it's a week and you indulge in extra booze and dessert every day...assume an extra 1000 calories a day. That's really only 2-3 lbs for the whole week, unless you plan to do nothing but eat. I wouldn't stress about it too much and just enjoy yourself.
-
I don't understand this.

If it means switching sugar for artificial sweeteners, which taste terrible IMO, I'd rather stick to sugar. Plus I love fruit. No way I could give that up.

Sounds like a good plan!

There's a lot of snark around here that's not against you...it's just about past threads and topics that get people wound up. "Detox," "cleanse," and "juicing" are dirty words around here because they're ineffective in the long run. Try to ignore it. When I need something to pick me up and get me going in the right…

I've found this calorie calculator to be pretty accurate for me -- of course everyone is different, but they're all estimates anyway: scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ According to this you should be eating closer to 2000 calories to lose 1lb a week, which is good rate. Try it, you may find that with a few more…
