No offense, but you're 24, male, and thin. For some women of a certain age, the heat + a little bit of salt wreaks havoc. My mother has that problem. She swells up like a water balloon when it's hot out. She's super sensitive to salt, too...has to eat an extremely low salt diet. She's not overweight...just one of those…

I get rid of them as soon as they're too big. I have no intention of ever wearing them again. Except t-shirts...they're comfy to sleep in.

Yeah it sucks. I went skiing in a dead zone, couldn't log in as much as I wanted to. Lost my 100+ day streak. Oh well...move on.

I like it because it helps me be more active. My goal is 10,000 steps/day. If it's the end of the day and I see I only have 8500, I call my dogs and go for a quick walk around the block. It's not magic, and it doesn't help me lose weight. Eating less than I burn is what helps me lose weight. It's just a fun little gadget.

What stuff is in it?
-
What have you been eating up to now? You've been alive for years so there must be something you're surviving on...?

Well, brown rice tastes like brown rice, and if you don't like the taste of brown rice, you're SOL. That said, I make it the way my mom taught me and I think it's pretty good, so... Measure out 1:2 rice to water...sautee the dry rice in a little olive oil with some salt, pepper, parsley flakes, and garlic powder to…

Oops, you left off the end of my sentence. In its entirety it was "So no, nothing is *forbidden,* but Oreos, Lucky Charms, donuts, etc...not stuff I buy routinely...just as special treats." Kinda changes the meaning when you leave off half of it. And yes, "finish your veggies..." or chicken... or whatever.. before they can…

So many incorrect assumptions. As I said, nothing is forbidden. I don't buy "junk food" on my routine grocery shopping trips, but my kids just shared a brownie ice cream dessert thing at a restaurant. No problem. Yes, I have food issues. I'm working hard to overcome them. I also work hard to teach my kids about moderation…

I don't deny them treats, I just don't buy unhealthy food as part of my routine grocery shopping for the reasons mentioned above.

I know, and I have a Flickr account...and a photobucket account...but frankly I'm too lazy to go look up my passwords, upload, remember how to do the tags, etc etc etc. Plus I have a job to do....LOL

Wow, very impressive! I took a pic of my snack drawer at work but of course I have no clue how to post it. It's pretty funny compared to yours -- mostly empty with one protein bar, one banana, and one clementine. :)

I understand what you're saying re: forbidden foods. Nothing is forbidden in our family, really, except that I don't buy "junk" food on a regular basis because of my own issues with self-control. Just can't keep certain things in the house. My only restriction on the kids is that they eat "real" food before…

Some good advice here, but I don't think there's such a thing as "one size fits all" for weight loss. Different people have weight issues for different reasons and therefore solutions are different too.

Well aren't you speshul.

I can't speak for everyone, but before my lap band surgery, I lost and gained the same 30-40 lbs over and over again. When I decided on surgery I was 120 lbs overweight and I was terrified. I just posted this the other day: I had lap band surgery two years ago and I'm happy to share my experience. Keep in mind that…

You've been doing this for about 5 minutes. Don't do too much or you'll burn out. Keep at it and give it time.

I stopped buying junk years ago. My husband is a big boy. If he wants junk food he can go out and get it himself. :)
-
Oh well, one can dream! I was feeling pretty woozy there for a minute. Drank water, eating a banana...feeling better now. Thanks for the replies. :)
-
*sigh* ok :(

Maybe your scale is wonky? Did you weigh yourself at the same time of day as on Saturday morning? How long did it take you to lose the six lbs? Weight can vary a lot based on water, menstrual cycle, whether you've pooped that day, etc. Don't give up. And don't weigh yourself for another week. :)

Don't keep junk in the house. If those are your babies in the pic (adorable, btw), I imagine that going out to buy junk with them in tow is no easy task.
-
My kids need a healthy and happy mom.

I don't think it's safe for you to be smoking *with* the patch -- check with your doctor! You're going to feel a lot better soon. Way sooner than 3 months, don't worry! The hardest part is the first 3 days! Hang in there!
-
Because if you're smaller your body needs fewer calories to function.

I'm 48, 5'3," and want to lose 50 more lbs. I'm netting 1350 and losing at a snail's pace, but I'm HUNGRY and I don't want to go below that. If I go up to 1500 I stop losing and maintain. Amazing how little wiggle room there is, really.

What bugs me about aggressive vegans (and yes, I've known my share) is that they think I just don't know better. Much like aggressive evangelists trying to save my soul. Don't assume that I don't follow your lifestyle simply because I haven't had the opportunity and I'm just ignorant. Maybe I *have* thought about it,…

Lots of good advice on here. I can only add my own experience. After many failed attempts, I finally quit successfully on May 19, 1999. 1. I tried to quit lots of times before it stuck. I had a weird asthma event that left me gasping on the sidewalk, thinking I was going to collapse. Scared the **** out of me. After that…

Sounds like she's doing fine. What's the problem, exactly?

Everything from the Cheesecake Factory. I mean everything. Appalling.
