• Lately I've been having a vanilla blueberry smoothie for breakfast. 1 cup of almond milk 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt 1 scoop vanilla protein powder The contents of 4 fiber capsules 1 cup frozen blueberries
• Not completely on topic but I celebrated a hundred pounds lost by getting a bike. That first ride about a month ago was the first time I've been on a bike in nearly 25 years. Hoping to pile up some miles on it this summer as I work it into my exercise routine.
• I plan on getting thrown from a plane when I reach my goal weight. BTW: I've never been in a plane and I'm scared of heights.
• You're doing amazing. Keep up the good work.
• Congratulations! It seems like riding a bicycle is a common goal on here. I recently took my first ride in twenty plus years. Keep up the good work!
• 1. Tomorrow never comes. Start today. 2. Don't avoid joining a gym for fear of being judged by all the fit people. They don't care that you're fat and out of shape and will gladly welcome you into the "club" if you work hard. 3. When you are stressed or worried or just need some time to think things thru, cardio beats…
• Awesome transformation! Congrats! BTW: You look a lot like someone I know.
• Not any more. I long almost everything but don't bother with things like the Crystal Light I mix with my water or the chewing gum I occasionally have. I may be off by 100 calories doing this but I usually have plenty of room in my daily goals.
• For me it was eating better foods and moving more. I basically eat anything I want as long as it falls within the target set by MFP. I stopped eating from the drive thru window and tried to concentrate on lean proteins with lots of vegetables. In the beginning I really went for a variety to keep from getting bored. I would…
• My cheat days have been amazing. The whole extended family comes together and, believe it or not, the last cheat day I had they had brought me gifts. Hmmmm, maybe that was all because it was Thanksgiving and Christmas but I like to think they did it all for me. In all seriousness, I don't really do cheat days or cheat…
• Sorry for the completely chauvinistic post but post but you've gone from an anonymous face in the crowd to complete hottie. You've obviously put in a lot of hard work and look amazing for it. Keep up the good work.
• 2 parts Greek yogurt, 1 part Parmesan cheese, garlic powder and black pepper to taste. Mix well and spread on boneless skinless chicken breast. Bake at temps and times for regular boneless skinless chicken. The coating keeps the chicken moist and is tasty.
• I'm owned by a four year old American Mastiff named Gertrude. Pics in profile.
• Not sure if it qualifies as a gadget but I love my cast iron Dutch oven. It's cheap no name stuff that my mother found in a thrift store but it works great. After seasoning it with veggie shortening on the grill for an hour or so, nothing sticks to it. It cleans up really easy with hot water and a scouring pad (never use…
• I didn't know your whole story when we became pals but can relate to so much of it. You have done amazing things taking control of your health. Congrats on all you've accomplished! I look forward to rooting you on as you reach your goal.
• Amazing progress in a year. Y'all's hard work shows and you both are looking great. Keep up the good work!
• Thanks everyone for the compliments and well wishes. When I began my journey I would stop by the success stories section and read all the good things that were happening for other people and how they were accomplishing their goals. These posts kept me motivated during those first couple weeks before I had my own successes.…
• Bunch of losers in here. :) I'm officially in the tripe digits lost club as of yesterday's weigh in. 104 pounds gone in 255 days on MFP. I swam to lose the first 50 and lifted weights and rode a bike for the second 50. I eat as healthy as I can and constantly look for healthier options. I still enjoy pizza and chocolate…
• Awesome, awesome post. Thanks for laying it all out there like that. BTW: Wear those plaid pants with pride.
• Lately I take tuna salad and a couple apples. My tuna salad: 1/4 fat free cottage cheese 1 tablespoon light mayo 1/2 cup dry old fashioned oatmeal Onion powder to taste 1 can tuna in water I mix the first four ingreadents together than add the tuna with the water. Mix well. By the time I eat lunch (about 3 hours later) the…
• I add oatmeal to my tuna salad I eat most days for lunch. 1/4 fat free cottage cheese 1 tablespoon light mayo 1/2 cup dry old fashioned oatmeal Onion powder to taste 1 can tuna in water I mix the first four ingreadents together than add the tuna with the water. Mix well. By the time I eat lunch (about 3 hours later) the…
• "Where is everyone?" Sleep work gym, sleep work gym, rinse, repeat...... 215 is awazing. Way to go!
• Convienence and bulk packaging. Quick stops at the drive thru on the way to and from work. Treats from the vending machine while at the office. An entire bag of chocolate. I used to take convenience over quality in terms of food. No more. I now prepare a high percentage of my meals and pack fruits for snacks. I still have…
• Nice! Add in some Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's, Rancid, Ramones, & Social Distortion and I could get lost in the music while working out.
• I use my old laptop backpack made by Samsonite. It's designed to hold a 17" laptop. All the dividers and pockets work well for carrying other stuff as well (iPod, HRM, swim goggles...). My gym shoes (a pair of Size 16 Vans) fit nicely in the computer pocket. I picked it up cheap at Newegg.com a while back.
• One of the big things that motivates me is the "Success Stories" section of the message board. When I started out I read a few posts on there every morning and evening and especially on days when I didn't feel like getting out and exercising. It was (and still is) very encouraging to know you're not alone, that others are…
• This is copied from a message I sent a pal: "The weigh ins..... I've gotten into the habit of weighing in weekly. I've been doing this for the past six months or so. While I love seeing the number go down, for me it seems to be go down two, up one, down two, up one..... I think having the weekly record of my weigh ins has…
• Black Friday Rule by Flogging Molly "I want to believe in my self once again, So I dream of a man, who's hopes never end." Then later "I've been down in this world, down and almost broken Like thousands of people, left standing in their shoe I've been down in this world, down and almost broken As thousands they grieve, as…
• Cold Feelings - Social Distortion "I try to separate, to separate my body from my mind."
• Here's a photo of Gertrude (my American mastiff) the day after I picked her up at 8 weeks. Here's one from Barktoberfest, a ACS fundraiser.…
