If I have leftover calories and I'm not hungry, I just let them go. I've been on maintenance over 3 years and although I still log every day, the amount of calories left over just does not seem to bother me. I don't bail them and I don't worry about them. Somehow, another day and I will go over my calories. It all works…

I agree with whomever said take one scale and stick with it. Too confusing and stress-producing otherwise. I have one at home and one at our second place. They do not agree by a few pounds. So when I am at the second place, I weigh myself the first morning and then just use that scale to make sure I don't gain while there.…

An egg every morning. Sometimes for lunch an egg white veggie omelet - 2 whites, 1 whole egg. When I do all e.g. white, it just doesn't stay with me. Cholesterol numbers are perfect, so I'm not worried. Love eggs ... great source of protein and very versatile. And every other minute the news changes as to what is good for…

A lot of what people are saying makes sense to me. Maintenance has been an easy 3 years and even losing was not difficult. I made up my mind, eased into it, and stayed the course. I started this post because I was just wondering how hard we maintainers are on ourselves when we get at the upper end of our range and are…

5'0" here and 70 years old. 135.0 and maintaining for almost 3 years now. I work out 5x/week, an hour each time, cardio, weights, Pilates, etc. I have a muscular build from the waist on down, and have never been the weight all the charts say my height should be. As I age, I know that my 110 in youth is not where I can be…

It's all about finding something you like to do. And might help to do it with someone. Joining a gym sometimes means you find a community of like-minded people and that helps. I, too, have friends who hate to exercise, but the gym has given me new people who talk about it and actually DO it. Exercise is about health more…

HI. I am also 70 and 5'0", so I know how little it takes at this age and this height to gain. I have been on maintenance for 3 years, work out 5 days a week, weights, circuit, cardio. But I can still go up about 4 lbs. from a salty restaurant meal or high humidity. I set myself a 3 lb. weight range (we are small, so any…

Hmmm, maybe I should have posted this in the Petite Maintenance Group. I forgot about that! Thanks, @RunRutheeRun. Sometimes we petites really do have different needs. That helped a lot! Thanks to everyone, also. These forums are simply great!

Thanks, all! Great answers and info.

Hi. Thanks for the info, @ninerbuff and thanks to everyone else. I am definitely maintaining, not losing. Just had all my annual checkups including complete physical and everything checked out perfectly, so no issues there. I just often have trouble getting in the 1500 and wondered. Food just doesn't seem to interest me…

I weigh daily ... and I can tell you that sometimes my weight can fluctuate if I step on the scale one minute and then go back and it weighs something else the next minute. So I do one weigh in the AM and that's it. One thing that has really helped me is using a weight trending app. I input with Happy Scale and when my…

Depends on what you call a meal. If you include snacks, probably 5. Mostly I eat 3 a day ... but they are small. Breakfast: egg and banana before the gym. Lunch: FF yogurt with some kind of fruit and 2T of almonds. Dinner: fish or some protein (I don't eat meat or chicken), veggie or salad, some kind of healthy carb.…

This. I, too, bought the Fitbit, linked it to MFP, and found it to be too generous, not to mention confusing. So I unlinked it, also, rely on MFP's calorie count b/c that's how I got to maintenance in the first place. I do use the Fitbit daily but its more like a pedometer for me. It doesn't register lots of exercising…

Name: Jane Age: 70 Height: 5'0" Total weight lost: 32 Time it took to lose: 2.5 years In maintenance since 10/10/2014 Maintenance weight range: 135 - 138 Struggles of the week: been holding to 137.5-138 for over a week. 138 is my scream weight and I don't want to be there. Have been eating at a deficit and upping exercise.…

For me, water weight comes and I bloat with the summer heat. Here in Michigan we have also been part of the heat wave for the past week or more. I have been on maintenance for 3 years and have a scream weight that I don't go past. However, for the last week, I have been .5 lbs. above that scream weight. Would like to say I…

Oh boy. Just re read what I wrote above. I've been on maintenance for THREE plus years, not 30! LOL

I try to log all the time. I've been on maintenance for 30 years with a 40 lb. loss and logging works for me. I know that if I don't do it and do it honestly, I'll slip back to old habits. I really am a healthy eater, enjoy it that way, and am close to vegetarian, so lots of times hard to find stuff to eat. If I am going…

BMI - this is my favorite rant. It is a crude measurement and has been around too long to be pretty valuable. Even my physician says it's not right for some. I am 5'0", 135, and very fit. I wear a Petite Small in everything. I have never weighed what the charts say because I am muscular from the waist down. And more so,…

Log it and move on is the best way to do it. At least for me. It's healthier psychologically for me, too.

I am 5'0", 70, and weigh 135. At maintenance for 3 years. I work out 5 days a week, cardio, Pilates, strength training. I revised my goal from 130 to 135. I was unable to sustain the 130 without being pretty miserable. I did try to get back down to 130 after being at maintenance for a year. It was slow, hard, and draining.…

684 here. Really impressed with those whose numbers are larger. Plan to be one of them

For me, it gets easier the longer I am in maintenance (close to 3 years now). I don't really eat much differently than when I was losing, and enjoy the extra food and the occasional treats that I now have. It took a while - almost a year - before I let myself have those and not feel guilty. I agree with a lot of people on…

I agree with a lot of the people on here. A weight range, rather than a goal number, is the best way to go. You have to choose what works for you. I am 5'0" and a 2 lb. range is what works for me because I am small. I also set myself a "scream weight", meaning a number that I will not go over if it stays around for more…

2 lbs. but then I'm only 5'0". It's been pretty easy to maintain that range.
-
I'm only 5'0" tall so I keep a small Weight range of 2lbs. I agree with extra salt or flight bloat so I know my weight will go higher from those. I have a "scream weight" that I don't allow myself to go over ever. If I do, I eat at a deficit even if I know it's probably salt.

Hey, everyone. Just thought that this article was very helpful to me and may be to others. This is the author of Refuse to Regain, a book I found very helpful with my maintenance. This is her latest article and it speaks to exactly what I am experiencing. Thought it might be helpful to others in general, on the great carb…

This. Perfect. Exactly how/why I feel as I do. Don't start even with a little thing. And it's that simple, so thank you. Sometimes you just can't see the forest for the trees and I apparently wasn't anywhere near something this easy. Got it! Thanks so much![/quote] Hello, all: I'm the OP. I put this to rest a while ago and…

Your second point is exactly my concern. Thanks for putting it so well. Thank all of you for your help. I know what to do.
