Glad to see everyone's numbers improving still! All this talk about scale stress - I was up 3, down 2, up 1, down 1, back and forth. I still can't get a gauge on whether I am gaining at the right rate, too fast, or not at all and its really frustrating. I sorta feel like I am spinning my wheels. I am also getting like…

Vegann - Its kinda dry, but the routines are decent. There are three: one low back repair, one hip repair, and one maitenance/strengthening routine. It has a demo of the moves too, plus a small video on general back pain.

This^ Before weight training and during. Still going strong. I was eating at a slight deficit to maintenance during those pics. ETA: 2-3lb weight loss from first pic to last.

What exactly are "meat sweats"?

I just don't know how you guys have a hard time getting protein in, lol. Like, unless I am eating light to plan for a night out or some cocktails, I never get under 100g. I average around 140g - 160g without really even trying. But I can eat the same thing all the time - if you like a my diary, I have the same thing for…

5/3/1 is an intermediate powerlifting program focusing on four major compound barbell lifts: squat, dead lift, bench press, and overhead press. In order to effectively run 5/3/1, you have to know your one rep max and work off of percentages of that for each lift. If you have never lifted weights before, you are unlikely to…

Hilarious! Go for it!

best thread ever. where was this when I was bored at work?

I watched in awe as a guy (I think I referred to him as Bro #1 in a long forgotten post) was executing perfect pendlay rows last night. He makes it look like a thing of beauty. I wanted to approach him, but kept my distance b/c I don't want to be creepy. Extraordinary - I envy your bench pressing prowess! Yes, Darwin -…

Oh my - so many pages to catch up on! I would really like to congratulate each of you individually for all your hard work these past few days...I have been a little MIA on this board as I was spending some time with the hubs before he left me for a couple weeks. You guys are moving some awesome weights! I don't remember…

I would either drop the 30 Day Shred completely or use it as your cardio on your off days - if you really enjoy it. Your results with heavy lifting will be much better than 30 Day Shred. I know. I did them both

I'm an idiot. What does QFT mean? I need to look at said gift from the gods when I get home from work.

I want to be strong as an Ox and look good in a bikini. A happy medium would be nice. For right now, I am focusing on strength gains, as appearance is a consequence of fitness...right? I do think eventually I will have to choose on or the other and I am just not sure what road I will take. Powerlifting seems more my style…

Weights for the win!

127lb in the left hand picture (before weight training), 125lb in the middle and the right hand pictures.

Vegas and Extra: I hear you on the food! I sincerely think that is what is finally helping me push past the weights that I have been stuck on for so long. I am eating about 500 more calories a day than what I was eating a month ago and I am finally crushing some of my lifts! Food = Great! So many new people here! Yay!

Super quick before I have to run off and make dinner: Squats: 125x3x5 (mother-effing BODY WEIGHT!) OHP: 65x3x5 (kinda ugly, but finally DONE...moving on to 70) Dead: Kept it easy again and did 145x5...and Tameko - I could kiss you, that warm up set up is perfect and so easy/simple! :smooched: Ok, time to feed the lifting…

There is a mirror like 6 inches from my power rack, too. It took a while to fight the urge to watch myself or anyone else in it. I now take on the "1,000 yard stare" and just kind of think so hard about what I am doing that I don't actually see anything going on right in from of me. It really bugs me that the mirror is…

I am 5'6.5 and I posted my story here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/815749-ladies-don-t-be-afraid-of-lifting-heavy-pic I started out (pre-MFP) at 140 (up 20lbs from my "normal weight" at the time). I am currently around 125lb, working on adding muscle. My original goal weight was 120, but I don't think I need to…

I can't vote at work - google docs is blocked. I look somewhere between straight and slightly above horizon, just more comfortable for me, I guess.

http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/training/breathing-during-weight-training.htm Tameko - That article was amazing. It finally explained the breathing technique in a way I can understand! I have been struggling with breathing in deep (I was filling my chest - not my stomach) and stabilizing my spine using IAP. Just tell me…

I'd like to get in the habit of going a little below parallel in the off chance that I do grow a set big enough to compete in a raw meet. That way its already ingrained in me and I won't have to try to relearn technique. *sigh* Looks like more wall squats for me!

A 5 minute walk on the treadmill and some body weight squats would be a good warm up.

You just have to go do it! Think of it as popping your weighlifting cherry, lol. It really isn't so bad once you get in there and figure out what the heck you are doing. After like my second session, I could confidently walk in there like I owned the place and get right to my workout. It will help that your husband is…

120lbx5 at 124lb BW. Just let me bask in my own glory for a minute, lol.

You will progress very quickly in this program; it will get to the point where you don't want to do more. Also, just because you don't feel sore doesn't mean the workout wan't effective. Soreness is not an indicator of a good workout - although we all tend to think that for some reason (myself included). Early in the game,…

Just realized something: I hung from the chinup bar after my workout last night. It felt nice, my back cracked in all the right spots, etc. I didn't stretch like usual after the workout b/c hubz thought he was dying after a vaccine he received was bothering him so we went straight home. I planned on doing yoga at home but…
