Check your neighborhood gym. I just started a cardio routine (sci-fit) and one of the machines is arms only. They have 4 different cardio routines. The one I do is standing, but they also have a seated one. I did it for about a month when I threw my knee out several years ago. Love the wii boxing idea - you could even do…

Yes. If this is working for you don't change anything. If it stops working (looking at monthly progress), then you can look into some of the other methods that are out and about on here. But for right now - you're doing just fine!!

Something about this thread smells bad.

I can't agree with this more. You need to look at monthly progress - yup, every 30 days. If your monthly progress isn't working, then switch things up, but you must give every new "setting" at least a month. It's easy to get discouraged, and that's ok - just rely on the people here to push you through it. Browse the…

Me too!!!

You are Hangry. It's cause you're not eating food. Like all the others have said, pick a calorie goal on here, and eat real food that fits in with your calories goals and macros. Some shakes are fine, but typically as snacks or as post-work out protein boosts. For breakfast/lunch/dinner - eat some food - real food, that's…

Congrats on your success! What great work! Has anyone ever told you you look like a younger Annabeth Gish? You're both lovely!

I miss all the good stuff!!

There are LOTS of different reasons why your hair may fall out. When I lost a lot of weight a long time back, my hair thinned a bit, but I went to my doctor and he said it was normal. It could also be a thyroid issue, an auto-immune issue, alopecia, etc. Point is - go see your doc. Do not rely on an online diagnosis.

Doesn't sound like they're all that close - she only sees him at the gym. I also disagree about men/women being friends. I have a lot of close male friends and my husband is just the opposite. I think it really depends on the individuals. To the OP - make sure you get these issues resolved prior to getting married.…

I have to agree with this. I don't want this to turn into a bullying thread. I think it's just hard because OP criticized every single member who doesn't eat clean and essentially told them "why bother." And the answer is because some progress is better than no progress. OP - I think it's time you just focus on you and…

I think you have to look at why you're addicted. Is it the convenience, or have are you craving the salt/fat/sugar? If it's a convenience, people have given you lots of ideas - pre-pack your meals, or hit up grocery stores for some more healthy, but still fast options. If it's the salt/fat/sugar, then changing your eating…

Great amazing job!! It's good to see these stories - they give me hope! As far as losing more weight - why don't you focus on body fat percentage instead. Get to whatever body fat percentage you want, and forget what everyone else says. You look really fantastic now, but you know yourself best. I just think referring to it…

yup. I also hate it when people say nasty things about other overweight people in front of me. I hold my weight well, but not THAT well - I mean - if you look at me, you see I am overweight. I usually tell whoever said it that their comment was uncalled for, but then it makes me wonder what they say when I'm not there.
-
Thanks for posting your story! It means a lot to those of us just starting or getting back on it!

I am giving it up after a bad liver test. I didn't drink that much before except when I did (so no drinks most of the time, and then binge drinking when I partied - maybe every other month). I blame getting a bit older, and of course, being overweight. It's pretty easy to give up when your doc says you could lose your…

Don't worry. If you start a troll thread that infuriates tons of people and then try to explain your way out of it, MFP will just delete it for you. That's how you stay professional.

The FDA typically allows for a 20% margin of error on food labels. In tests performed on foods (to compare nutritional values to , the values on the labels) results typically show that the labels are lower than the actual calorie/fat counts. I'd get away from that chicken.

Ditto on old navy and target. All of my work out stuff came from there, except for one or two tops I picked up at TJ Maxx (I actually bought 2 champion wicking shirts in the TJ Maxx men's section, they were a lot cheaper than the ones in the ladies section).

If I were still single, I would TOTALLY date a cross dresser. Although to be honest, all of the male cross dressers I ever met liked other men. My answer would likely differ if the cross dresser hoped to one day physically change to a woman. Unfortunately, my biology makes me more attracted to men with male parts, so that…

I have a TOTAL thing for men with long hair. I have since grade school. In fact, my closest girlfriends can frequently be quoted as saying "No dude. Cut off the hair and that guy is NOT cute." If he had the hair, I'd be drooling. I lovingly blame David Bowie in Labyrinth. I didn't know what that thing in his pants was, but…

I have pretty bad acne my whole like, and have gotten it under control by following the method recommended on acne.org. I do not buy all my products from there (although I do buy his benzoyl peroxide gel because I think it's the cheapest you can buy in large quantities). His method works for me better than proactive did,…

How'd you become a morning person? I need to do that :)

I think using it in your daily activity level should be enough, but you could also try calculating your Total Daily Energy Expenditure at varying levels of activity, and then use an HRM during a few massages to see what you burn. Then you could compare whether the "active" daily setting is accurate to capture your work, or…

I had a fitbit and lost it. It worked great, but not for telling you what you're burning doing anything other than walking. It kept good track of how many steps a day I took, and was essentially only useful for monitoring how many calories I burn doing my normal daily activities. I also have a heart rate monitor and it…
