I don't have access to a barbel, and body weight squats require a lot of reps for me to really feel like I'm working it enough. So.. I tried goblet squats out of an exercise book I bought a while back, with a 20 lb dumbbell. After about 5 my heart rate was way up and I was struggling. So goblet squats have my vote! I tend…

Out of curiosity, what book were you reading? If you find the free range meat too expensive, I second the idea of preparing vegetarian/vegan meals on non-meat days. In most cases vegetarian/vegan versions of meals can be a lot cheaper sans the cuts of meat. If you're struggling with coming up with veg meals this cookbook…

I stumbled upon Freelea's videos a few years back... I believe she omits a lot of information and quite frankly seems a little untrustworthy and unpleasant. She is a Fruitarian who eats nothing but fruit. Literally her diet is 100% fruit. I heard many alarm bells going off and didn't really humor her videos after that. She…

Just Dance looks like so much fun! There's also a free dance game sim called Stepmania that people write step charts for, you can find a fairly cheap USB dance mat with arrows on it online. It's pretty much DDR with no console required. Or if you happen to have a PS2 console collecting dust you can find the older DDR…

I was really intrigued and impressed with this idea... Until I saw that price tag. Yeah, I'll stick to my dorky sweaty helmet

Whoa, amazing transformation here. You look absolutely stunning! I want that butt! lol

I was actually waiting for someone to try and pick apart my profile or past posts on here. I know some of you love doing that! That was a 3 lb gain, FYI. Ermagerd I'm such a failure! I've since lost that + 4 more lbs. I'm doing pretty great right now, losing consistently and feeling good. I've never weighed myself weekly…

Have you even read this thread? Like, the whole thing? Sure, the first post had "You should try it!" in it, but it got sickeningly out of control after that. No, everyone shouldn't try 1200 calories, or P90X, or raw food veganism., or a lot of other methods out there. They aren't for everyone. Conversely, it's not your…

This may not work for you, but try replacing the TV with something more engaging that is a distraction you can't zone out and munch to. Video games (if you're not an avid gamer, even casual Facebook and mobile games are a nice distraction that passes hours usually spent zoning out in front of the TV), board games,…

I could kiss you. In a not creepy way. My mom is over 60, 4'11 and has no cartilage in her knees. She can barely walk. Even at 40-50 years old, if I punch her data into most TDEE calculators her maintenance calories are close to 1400. People around 5 feet tall exist in the world. Their smaller bodies need less fuel than…

Wowza! The attitude change is very clear in the photos. You look radiant in both pics but in your after pic you can clearly see the sexy confidence! You look AMAZING with those bombshell curves girl! Thanks for sharing, and congrats on the loss! :drinker:

Genetics plays a role in where you store your fat, I believe. Some people just store their fat around their midsection, so at the exact same height, weight, and body fat % as someone else you could have a pudgy belly while the other person has a "flat" one. I'm one of these people. At my lowest weight I'm on the fence…

I think there are different levels of sore. If you're feeling a bit sore and achy, make sure you are stretching and warming up/cooling down. I find on days I skip the warm up, my muscles get more sore. If you strain your muscles so hard you can barely walk or lift your arms, take a day or two off. First day I started…

I was a... scary thing in a dress. Did not win the company costume contest, but I did make a child cry. Partial victory!

I have tried the treadmill and elliptical and I just.. can't do it. Even with music, tv, etc I will be bored to tears about 5 minutes in. Last time I was on the treadmill a few weeks ago I just forced myself through it. I hated it though. I have also tried workout cardio DVD programs (P90X, Zumba, Insanity, 10 Minute…

3 slices of veggie lover's thin crust pizza from Pizza Hut. Around 170 calories per slice. I'll have about 150 cals left over for dessert.

Stick to it. I "plateaued" for about 3 weeks as well, lost no scale weight and even gained some scale weight above my base weight at the time on and off. It was frustrating because I was weighing my food, exercising, and not seeing results. It could be many things: -Water retention -Normal fluctuations -Monthly cycle (for…

I'll usually have either: 2 slices of 45 calorie whole wheat toast 2 whole eggs either hardboiled (140) or pan-cooked with cooking spray (160) Sometimes .5 tsp Smart Balance butter (40) Total: 230 - 290 calories or 2 whole eggs either hardboiled (140) or pan-cooked with cooking spray (160) 1 slice of 45 calorie whole wheat…

650 sounds about right. It sounds like that's how many calories the body expends to replenish the blood over the next few days? Not sure where 3,000 came from... unless it takes weeks, not days to fully replenish a pint of blood..? Anyway... I'll take a day off from working out and eat at maintenance to be on the safe…

Just eat your chocolate! Skinny Cow brand by Nestlé makes low calorie chocolate treats in portion control packs. I love the heavenly crisp bars, they are only 110 calories per bar. The chocolate caramels are also pretty yummy, those come in 130 calorie packs.

Feel free to add me as well. Lately I've been eating pretty junky but occasionally I do try new healthy recipes and love to get ideas from others as well. Trying to perfect my black bean taco recipe.

Just here to show my new favorite thing for Taco night in my house: Homemade baked taco shells! "Working with 6 tortillas at a time, wrap in a barely damp cloth or paper towel and microwave on High until steamed, about 30 seconds. Lay the tortillas on a clean work surface and coat both sides with cooking spray. Then…

Wait "light" vodka? Isn't that chemically impossible? They either have to decrease the proof or decrease the serving size, or both. There's like no way lol, maybe for the flavored ones using artificial sweeteners and flavors, but pretty sure you can't make plain vodka magically less calories! *sigh* Just noticed…

I had to look up what it was... It seems... strange.

Raw banana. I just... can't. It has to be blended into a smoothie or I can't eat it. Carrots are the devil. I also can't stand orange flavored things. Oranges themselves are delicious, but orange juice, orange sauces, orange soda, orange candy, orange medicine, or anything along those lines are gross. For some reason I…

It depends on how accurately you program it. You need to program it with your stride length and weight, and the more accurate the stride length then the more accurate the calorie counter is. I measured my stride with 10 steps and measured about 5 times to make sure it was as close to my normal stride as possible. I've…

Oh wow, the memories! Back in the PS2 days I played DDR religiously and entered tournaments on campus, this was back in 2004-2005ish. I lived in a dorm and we would visit each other's dorms and challenge each other to "dance-offs". Watching people play on Heavy while I progressed from Light to Standard was super…

Did you put Sedentary as your activity level? You shouldn't do this if you work out regularly, even if you work at a desk job all day. I recently found this out myself. I also made the common mistake when I first joined of selecting 2 lb/week right off the bat. At the time I was Sedentary and wanted to avoid working out.…

I lost my first 30 lbs over the course of about 2 years, then maintained for over a year. Trying to lose those last 20 lbs. Not sure about this hormone stuff, because I don't feel any hungrier at this weight than I did when I was 30 lbs heavier. Maybe how the weight is lost plays a factor in this? And also how quickly it's…
