26.04.2015 LBL: DNS. Woke up feeling rough (crud that's going around) and that continued all day. Plus the rain, hail, snow and high winds were a bit of a deterrent but less than being unable to breathe well. Onward.

It's not much, frankly I just wasn't into it yesterday. https://www.strava.com/activities/290750615 12.8km 128m no pics, no beer, no chocolate.

That is truly amazing. Saw too many of the open hearts I took care of (used to do post-cardiac surgery nursing) enter a cycle of non-compliance and complications, the ones that took it as a new lease on life were few and far between. Keep at it!

Borrowed a fat bike for about 2 weeks and while I had a blast - seriously they can be a ton of fun - I can't see it taking the place of a regular MTB. It's on the list, after a MTB and a touring (on & off-road) bike.

I'd love to do this again but will be sans' bike for at least 5-7 days of this including the first and last weekends due to pre-planned vacations so I'll bow out. In the immortal words of so many racers: choosing to sit out the Giro in order to focus my energies on the Tour.

Didn't have the opportunity yesterday to put in my Amstel ride (stupid work making it so I can't faff around on the internet). Obviously too late but here it is regardless: Amstel Gold 19/04/2015: https://www.strava.com/activities/288624178 29.9km 321m Obligatory pics:

12.04.2015: Paris-Roubaix,DNS Didn't lug my bike with me camping, especially after the thorny flat escapades of last year.

05/04/2015: DNS. Even if I counted the previoous night's ride (it was after midnight in many places!) I'd get a whopping 0 points. No waffle/chocolate, no Belgian beer, not enough elevation, I even rode with a friend!

Nice! It's only a loaner but been having fun on it for a couple of days. As much fun as it is, I'd rather get a dedicated MTB, then a road/cross/touring bike then a fat bike, then a... Just don't feel like I have enough honest use of it here whereas I would out of the others. But it has me thinking that 29+ could be pretty…

29/3/15: 31.7km 617m https://www.strava.com/activities/276049811 Hit multiple sections >10%, steepest one I found was over 23%. And the base of it looked like this: Truth be told I hiked the super steep parts, could only stay on the bike until the log on the left. No Leffe to be found in town so I had a waffle with…

3/22: DNS Yep, I'm a total loser.

Strade Bianchi - for some reason Strava didn't catch the begining of the ride so the length is about 3 miles less than it should be. Oh well. No old civilization, it was too dark to see much anyway by the time I left work. 07/03/2015: https://www.strava.com/activities/264586988 7.6km 99m 00:30:14 Dirt road by headlight and…

Those kits are so bad they're actaully kind of cool. Like how 70's polyester cast-offs got repurposed by hipsters shopping at the thrif stores... TBT...I'd wear the socks and jersey.

In, as scheduling allows. My absolute favorite rides of the year. Thanks Mark for setting this up!
-
Great, will check out some of these. Otherwise...shadiness.

Nice commuter!

Thanks for the spreadsheet, I made a short list of my own, but yours was far more comprehensive. Realized to my chagrin that I volunteered to work an extra shift the day of the Strade, so not only do I not get the time to ride, I don't get to do enlist my Google-fu to find a feed of the race. Oh well, looking forward to…

Count me out now Mark. Computer got a bug and wiped my tracking for this challenge and I don't have the time (or gumption) to put it all back together. (this once again will teach me to back-up regularly!) Sorry!
-
Um...HTFU? Not really, not really at all. Sorry, bad joke in poor taste. Anyways... Glad you've surfaced it wasn't nearly as bad as it could've been (heart attacks and cardiac issues are no fun says this cardiac nurse). Once you're able to throw a leg over again things will fall into place. Good luck, best wishes and take…

That looks like a little slice of heaven!

Once the temp hits 40Fish I'm pulling out the wool socks, when it drops into the teens (or below) I rock a thin wool sock (Twin Six/Sock Guy) under a thicker wool sock. Feet are a bit chilly when I roll into work but never painfully cold. That said, I'm riding in skate style shoes on platforms and not at as fast of pace as…

February/March can be iffy at Moab/Sedona, if you're looking for more stable weather, try Phoenix or Tucson. If you're touring until you get further south, the weather is going to be unpleasant. I guess it really depends on what type of riding you want, or if you just want an actual tour. If the latter, check out "Crazy…

I've changed out both my front and rear cables (not the brakes yet though) and the front is bulk, probably Shimano from the bike shop, the rear done some months later, is a Jagwire set. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. If prodded, I would say the Jagwire "seems" smoother but then again I'm shifting the rear much more…

"Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy." (erroneously attributed to Ben Franklin) No truer words could be spoken. Cheers.

I spent the evenings of the last two days whilst the wife was away streaming Clone Wars and Arrow.

:D Have a great holiday season everyone!

Welcome! I'll just leave this here. Keep the rubber side down!

Burning through the Wheel of TIme series once and for all. I had read up to Winter's Heart previously, but that was years ago and since I decided to finish the series I felt it was neccessary to read the entire saga to get the whole bloody story. In between books (felt the need to switch tropes and was getting tired of…
