So in. Love the Monuments! With the time difference, can watch the race then go out on bury myself. Should be fun!

I don't know about geeky, just outside the mainstream as you mention. Now competitive Starcraft? That's a bit geeky. But the whole eSports idea is that way. Yay, another soccer fan! Huge Portland TImbers fan (in exile) here. A lot of folks wouldn't understand, but put them down in the North End at a TImbers match, or even…

I've done empty and full-ish before my "workout" (commuting by bike to work) and I go through phases. Some weeks it's nice to have something small, like a hard boiled egg about an hour before I leave. Other weeks I'm not even hungry until after I get to work. Go with how your body feels. I should mention that I always have…

Does grifball count? (points if you get the reference...) I am a cyclist, year-round. Road/Mountain/Commuter - there is no off-season.

Last 5 songs from my mp3 player Seek & Destroy - Metallica 5 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden Some Chords - Deadmau5 Bob - NOFX Teenage Brain Surgeon - Cherry Poppin Daddies It's set to random so it just goes and goes and goes.

Getting my weekly dose of Halo 4 or BLOPS2 multiplayer madness. And starting a new book, either Old Man's War or re-starting the Wheel of TIme series. Essentially, I'm not leaving the couch for most of the weekend.

I'm pretty proud that when I took the wife out for her birthday dinner last night I split the entree in half and took it home. Doesn't sound that great but a year ago I would have finished mine, most of her salad, a good chunk of her entree and many more peices of garlic bread. Still ate the appetizer and my salad and 2…

Twin Six Ortlieb - best panniers I've used, never leaked even in the worst Portland weather. Nokian - awesome studded tires for awesomely bad weather REI...yes, not a bike shop but their return/customer service policy is amazing! Case in point: bought my commuter there during the annual sale, due to supply chain kerfuffles…

^^This. or... replace with real beer, just not as much. Work it in. Most craft beers (the 12oz serving here) run 150-250/serving, plus they taste good and satisfy the need for more (more substantial use of malt, hops and ususally run a little higheer ABV%), unlike Bud and other "beer" which just makes you want to drink…

I did a similar move last May (sea level to 6500-7000 ft) and the first couple of weeks sucked. Headaches, short of breath, general irritability - but they all went away. Stay hydrated, try to rest, slowly ramp up your exercise level and you'll be fine.

aw c'mon spoliers! I realized that I've somehow missed the last 3 books (happens when you read non-stop for 3 years in nursing school, you just don't want to pick up a book ever again) and reading brief summaries I can't remember the storyline at all. Needless to say I'll be spending money to buy the books (again...some…

Don't forget to stretch!

I've narrowed it down to this and MSG. Usually it is combined with stress/tension/sinus issues. I'm lucky though, they don't go full blown (yet?) and happen very rarely...it's like a perfect storm situation for them to pop. My mom is the same way, nitrates and MSG.

Didn't do as poorly as I thought I would. 270.8 for the month. New year, new challenges!
-
Considering I didn't even make 250 this month, I think that's where I'll set the goal. Weather/family cooperating.
-
Well, it is less than 12 hours until 2013 and unless I ride 236.4 miles in the next 11hours and 23 minutes I won't make my goal. Needless to say, it isn't happening. Lots of things led to this, mostly an appaling malaise and disinterest in riding more than I needed to. This probably coincided with the change in the weather…

Exercise extra credit? Commuting with studded tires on the bike. They don't roll nearly as smoothly as my slicks! And commuting with temps in the teens.

^^this. "entering sleep mode"

Sounds like fun, esp. the Spring Classics, my favorite races of the year. I'd be in. It wouldn't be that hard to do a conversion for MTBs. We did a local challenge this last Fall and those who rode MTBs (with knobbies...) had their miles counted as 1:1.25 ratio, he had it all set up in a spread sheet so it was super easy…

It's the whole "you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink" scenario going on here. We can blast information until we're blue in the face but people will continue to make bad decisions because they just don't care. There are those that will make good decisions because they are motivated to do so. And if you…

The government, duh. They made me get shots as a kid which injected nanobots into my bloodstream causing me to crave salty, sweet, fattening foods and deplore any sort of exercise beside lifting an eating utensil. Only me. I pity the fool.

Give 'em a knowing wink and say, "make it so."

I've seen far too many head injuries as a nurse to not wear a helmet. Every time. I almost feel weird without it when I roll around the driveway testing adjustments. It's been said before but, road rash will heal, bones will mend, bruise and scars fade, equipment can be replaced but my brain, that pink mushy thing inside…

Heh, 7F this morning. Even the water bottle froze up.

Haven't had a morning ride (commute) that warm in weeks, the afternoons though are in the 40s. I love riding when it's cold out.

Did the CO2 thing for awhile but found that for a flat repair it was nice but I've come to the conclusion that it's too expensive and wasteful for my liking especially when considering how many flats I used to get. I have aTopeak Master Blaster Mini (I think) and it's gotten me out of many a jam. I would rock the frame…

I won't have to go to work. That in and of itself is OK by me.
