I read a LOT of great reviews on the health o meter scale and bought one recently. It was about a pound and a half to 2 pounds heavier than my old one (the old one varied). It sucks to go up, but I found that it was actually closer to my doctor scale and seems to be more accurate and consistent. So that's just my two…

what amazing NSV's! so happy for you! i can't wait to be in onederland!!!

I too love hot sauce and have given it up. :( Plain ground cayenne pepper is a good substitute, though. Still gives you the same general flavor and spiciness, but no sodium. (well 2mg for a tbsp...which I would never eat in one serving!) I make my own salad dressing with EVOO, some red wine vinegar, and Mrs. Dash sometimes…

Very inspirational! What was with the bloody nipples, though??

yeah, when I started watching my sodium, i dropped some weight really fast and have noticed that any time I go over I retain a lot of water weight. the only way to stay under is to cut out some of the processed foods. I, too, was living on processed food due to time and convenience, but I have decided that it's worth it to…

Yeah, I think he was slightly bitter about losing...I can't believe they didn't even show a "where is he now" at the end...wonder if he will be at the finale. Tara is pretty much my favorite contestant ever and she is even more awesome having won that challenge twice...and against an Olympic gold medalist...BUT it was kind…

A heart rate monitor is the only way to get an accurate calorie count that takes your fitness level into account. i am new to running and still quite a bit overweight so I actually burn more than the mfp calculators say because my HR is pretty high while running. I love having my HRM!
-
yeah, it's a great thing that they are doing!
-
do you get to pick what kind or is it just the pine that is pictured?
-
Awesome job! I know how good it felt the first time I could run a mile! Keep it up!

I agree with Bob, I am just so mad to see them go! It's unfair. That person was one of the hardest workers I have ever seen! I bet they win the at-home prize, though. :)
-
Good luck with your run!! I do it on a treadmill with 0% incline...I wouldn't be able to do it with hills yet. ;)
-
That's an amazing idea! I bet there would be such a huge turnout! It would be so cool to meet the people that I talk to everyday online, face-to-face!!!
-
Haven't had it yet, but celery and laughing cow cheese. 47 calories!! :) That's just my first snack for the day.
-
AMAZING!!! You have come SO far and you look GREAT!! You should be so proud of how far you've come cause you have earned it every step of the way! ;)
-
what a sweet, romantic and helpful husband! you definitely have a keeper!

I am on W6 D3! I did it once and only made it to 20 minutes out of 25. Going to try again tonight! From now until the end there are no more interval runs...it's all just straight running! eek! but i guess that's the whole point of the program...it just feels like it has gone really fast and i'm not quite sure if i'm ready…

I have the opposite issue...i am 2 inches shorter than i was in high school. i am quite a bit heavier right now too and the thing about the vertebrae being compressed kind of makes sense. so i wonder if i will be growing taller as i get this weight off???
-
when i started to pay attention to my sodium, i was shocked to see how much sodium is in everything. i didn't realize just how bad all that processed stuff was for me. and if you eat out, forget about staying under your sodium goal unless you do some research beforehand and are VERY careful and selective!

I weigh EVERYTHING. You will be amazed by how much your estimates can be off. Especially if you estimate generously...I recently purchased a new one because mine only weighed ounces/pounds and a lot of things are listed in grams and it was a pain having to convert everything. So I got the cheapest one at Walmart that does…

SO amazing! you are definitely an inspiration!!! Great job on the 10K. I am currently completing the C25K program and plan to run a 5K in May! Maybe someday I can run a 10K like you!!
-
Good for you! I struggle with the same issues sometimes, but I too have been working on putting myself first when I need to. I hate confrontation and don't want to cause problems with anyone, but I have learned that sometimes I have to speak up for myself and they just have to deal with it! haha.

hmm...have you talked to your doctor about this? it just seems so wrong that you would have such a strong aversion to something so vital to your survival. Many people don't like drinking plain water, but they get water in tea, or crystal light or something... Maybe something is off and this is a weird symptom of it. You…

I don't think this model gives you calories burned. I had the FS1 before and it didn't do cals burned. Just HR. I just looked up the FT1 and it says it doesn't show calories burned and that the FT4 is the lowest model that does. You might check to be sure before you open everything and use it. :)
-
I also have the Polar FT4 and I love it! I just used it to do C25K week 5! I got mine on Amazon.com for about $65 USD. You do enter you age, height, and weight. It tells you how many calories you have burned during your workout which was the main feature I wanted. Very good simple HRM for a decent price. Some of the other…

Technically to be able to do a 5K in 30 minutes, you would have to run at 6.0...but I agree with everyone else that you should run at a speed that is comfortable for you. I run at 5.0 and walk at 3.0 so I can get my HR down in between. I just did W5-D1 today and got through it on 5.0, so I'm going to try and keep that up…

you might like nelly furtado (sp?) she has some spanish/english mix songs. i run to the song "Man-eater" sometimes cause it goes, "man-eater, make you work hard, make you sweat hard" which is what my running does! lol. i have a bunch of faves, but they don't go with the songs you have listed. ;)

yeah, soy sauce and marinades have so much sodium that i decided not to use them anymore...i made stir fry last week and used some rice vinegar and squeezed some orange and lemon juice in it. i also cooked the chicken it a little sesame seed oil. it was pretty tasty and hardly any sodium. i just bought some powdered ginger…

unless the juice says 100% juice, it probably has a lot of added sugar. i have even heard that fresh fruit is better than 100% fruit juice for some reason. maybe it has something to do with stuff like skin and stuff that has other nutrients to balance it out. if i make a smoothie, I just use frozen fruits with no sugar…

I use a HRM and just create my own exercise as C25K. My numbers are always higher than my treadmill and mfp says, but my HR is getting pretty high. That's really the most accurate thing to do. But if you really can't invest in a HRM, I would suggest maybe averaging the two...I'm on week 4 of C25K. Love it!
