  • I'm no doctor or trainer so please take my advice with a grain of salt... Seeing as you are hurting, I feel that you are over training. First, how many weeks have you trained w/out taking a week off? Most trainers recommend taking 1 week off after every 5,6, etc up to 10 weeks of training (I take a week off after 10). My…
  • There's a simple formula to remember: Calories burned > Calories consumed = Weight loss (for most of us w/out thyroid or some other medical issue) Since you are on an extended plateu that means Calories burned = Calories consumed (over a weeks time) Which means: 1. You aren't logging in your food correctly (portion sizes,…
  • Your original statement is flawed. Not everyone exercises (I'm guessing about 1/4 do not exercise). In regards to "Daily activity" I think "Workplace activity" would of been a better choice of words. MFP wants to know what your day to day work environment is like. Do you work behind a desk all day? That would be…
  • We Will Rock You (full version with "We are the Champions" immediately following) by Queen. It's the final song I listen to while running on the treadmill. I dont have a playlist while lifting. I listen to the radio in my gym.
  • 1. What is your eye color? - Brown 2. What is youre favorite season? - Used to be winter, now that I live in Houston, the non 95+ degree days 3. What is your favorite Holiday? - Valentine's Day 4. Have you ever been arrested? - Yes 5. What are 2 things with in arms reach of you right now? - Calculator and Cell phone 6.…
  • Reading through what you wrote, all I hear are excuses that claim that your current situation is not your fault.. Here are a few examples: "I'm not only genetically predispositioned " - You maintain a lifestyle for the body you want. Genetics have little or nothing to do with it. "That's a decent loss/time ratio....but I…
  • Here's a quote that I was taught in High School by a family member that I believe will help alleviate what you're thinking: "You wouldn't worry about what others think of you if you knew how seldom they do"
  • Your "lifestlye" refers to your work "lifestyle"; it does not refer to your "workout lifestyle". Sit behind a desk all day = "Sedentary". Move around a lot for your JOB ="Moderate". Does your job require a lot of physical exersion? (Work construction? Lift a lot for a warehouse job? Does your job feel like a workout? etc)…
  • Rest days are highly recommended. Your body needs them. I vote for 5 days of cardio and 2 days off. For myself, I am on the treadmill MWF and I lift on Tues, Thur, Sat. I take Sundays off. After 10 weeks, I take 1 week off from exercising. I think that exercising 7 days a week leads to burnout and the desire to not work…
  • For myself, this has become a lifestyle so I dont think I'll return to my earlier weight as my current lifestyle wont allow it. However, I was in the same boat. I worked hard to "diet" and exercise and was able to lose 35 lbs. Then, for many reasons you described, I gained it all back which meant that all of the hard work…
  • http://www.thewalkingsite.com/thr.html. According to this, your maximum heart rate is 226-31=195. So warm up zone is 50-60% or 98-117 BPM. Fitness zone (fat burning) is 60-70% or 117-137 BPM Aerobic Zone (Endurance Training) is 70-80% or 137-156 BPM Anaerobic Zone (Performance Training) is 80-90% or 156-176 BPM Granted,…
  • It's probably the smile. I think either Jami Gertz or Ally Sheedy. All 3 of you have the same smile and similar faces.
  • Gerard Depardieu (during his earlier days). Looking at his current photos encouraged me to resume exercising and eating healthier. When I was younger (and 165), I was told I looked like Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap days, not Men of a Certain Age days).
  • Why not just eat your cut up chicken?? Why blend it with water to drink?
  • If you list your lifestyle is "active" because you work out, walk your dog 2x day, etc, then MFP will up your allotment for calories (because of this extra movement). However, when you enter "Walking your dog" or "Fitbit calorie adjustment" since your fitbit estimates how much you move each day, and other daily movements…

  • When I had originally began my weight training back in 2008, I hadn't lifted weights in over 20 years (since high school). My apartment complex's gym had a lot of machines that I wasn't familiar with nor was I familiar with which exercises to do. I knew that if I hired a personal trainer, I would show up for the…
  • There's a reason why most in the fitness industry call that magazine "Muscle and Fiction". That magazine (and those like it) are nothing more than a glorified catalog for supplements.
  • I think your difficulty will not be finding time to eat healthy it'll be the lack of sleep. Seeing as you wont be sleeping on Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday evenings, your body will produce extra cortisol which will cause you to gain, or at the very least, hinder your ability to lose weight. Also, the additional work hours…
  • I too have difficulties doing leg lifts while laying flat on my back because they hurt my lower back due to my forward head posture. I roll up a towel and lay it accross where my lower back rests to give added support.
  • To each their own. Just realize that tattoos are forever (unless you pay to have them removed), and that's a very long time, which is why I dont recommend getting someone's name tattooed (unless it's a child or relative's name).

  • Just get one without cheese, mayo, and the oil and vinegar and you'll be okay. I buy a footlong and save half for a later meal. Also, drink a lot of water during that and the following day to help flush out the excess sodium.
  • I doubt you gained 3-4 lbs of fat in 3 days. It's probably excess water from the sodium from the processed foods you ate (or it's your time of the month). Also, weigh yourself at the same time each time as one's weight will fluctuate throughout the day. Get back to your routine, drink some extra water to flush out the…
  • I'm confused. Are you over or underestimating your calories (your post says that you are doing both)? If you are overestimating them, in reality you are consuming less than what you think and therefore will lose more weight than expected (and probably feel hungrier). If you are underestimating them, in reality you are…
  • Here at work, we'll be doing a company sponsored BBQ lunch. There will be numerous choices for me to choose from including a wide variety of desserts. I'll select items that I think are the healthiest to eat. As for dessert, I'll probably have a small piece of something. Then again, if I'm full, I wont.
  • For me, drinking diet soda makes be bloated (not pregnant bloated, but bloated none the less). I was able to go from 1 large glass/ evening to none at all (I'll still drink one at the movies or on the rare occasion that I have pizza). Think of it like quitting smoking. For a week, cut the multiple drinks down to fewer and…
  • I think you are feeling a little overwhelmed. 9 months ago, everything was great, you had your routine, and you were heading towards your nutrition and fitness goals. Then everything changed... Now you need to get back into your routine. Going from inactivity and perhaps poor nutrition choices can seem overwhelming which…
  • I would increase your nut intake. These include macadamia nuts, almonds, pecans, cashews, hazelnuts, and peanuts.
  • Dizziness is also an early sign of pregnancy for some women. As stated numerous times by previous posters, I would see a doctor.
  • You may have to be more specific when you ask about weight loss supplements as some will assume you are asking about "diet" pills. For me, I drink a protein drink after each workout as well as take Fish oil and CoQ10.
