I would lose the morning cup of "double double" coffee (it has 22 grams of sugar). Also, every now and then, instead of yogurt (or that second piece of fruit), try cottage cheese, peanut butter on a rice cake, or some almonds. I too am trying to cut down on my sugar intake. Recently, I replaced my morning bowl of cereal…

I take CoQ10 and Fish oil (I sometimes forget to eat 3 servings of salmon per week). I dont bother with multi-vitamins. If you eat a balanced, healthy diet, you dont need them. However, for women, I would say to be vigilant about getting enough vitamin D and calcium in order to reduce your chances of osteoporosis and bone…

The gym I use is very small and rarely crowded so not too many complaints. The few I can think up: 1. Wipe down the machine after you are done. 2. Put back the dumbbells. 3. Using horrible form when lifting For example, a teenage boy started doing leg presses on the shoulder press machine! I mean, he was laying, upside…

I would stay away from fitness magazines(mainly men's and women's fitness or is it Men's and Women's Health?). i dont remember which one is made up of mostly supplement advertisements. Which ever one I'm referring to, stay clear of it. They are just a collection of advertisments for supplements. Perhaps a magazine for…

Here are my guesses: 1. You said you have two major ear infections and your throat is bloated. Perhaps this is causing your stomach to bloat as well? 2. Too much fibre? 3. The diet coke? 4. The 20 glasses of water (seems a bit high)? 5. A gluten intolerance. If what you are eating is what you've always been eating and you…

I exercise 6 days a week. Mon, Wed, Fri I run (I seem to have tweaked the upper portion of my left achilles heel so I ride the stationary bike). Tues, Thur, and Sat I lift. On sunday I do not exercise. If Friday's plans get in the way, I'll switch my friday to a rest day and run on sunday. After each 10 weeks of…

This applies to when I first started exercising and lifting weights 4 years ago (when I initially dropped to 172): Lose the diet soda. I dont care if it says 0 calories, it'll leave you bloated and it'll increase your sugar cravings. Drink more water. The people who lift in the gym are not steroid infused meatheads. You'll…

I recommend joining a few groups here at MFP whose members are in the same situation as you are. If you click on the "Groups" option, then type in "Alcohol" you'll get about 2 pages worth of groups. I would browse and join a few groups from the list. That way, you'll have the opportunity to share your experiences and hear…

I pop a few tic tacs.

As one that exceeds his sugar intake the only suggestion that I would make is, if you feel that you are eating too much sugar, replace one of the 2 yogurts/day that you are eating with a serving of vegetables (Kinda sounded like your parent there for a second, huh?). I would replace the one you have with dinner with a…

I noticed you didnt list many back exercises (Other than the deadlifts. I dont know if you just didn't mention them or dont do them). If you dont, I recommend using the dumbell for a "Chainsaw row".. I dont know the official fitness term for this exercise but it's a great exercise for building your back. I think some sites…

I use Weight Watcher Scale By Conair WW31X Digital Body Fat and Body Water Scale. You can program it for up to 4 people (height, sex, and age) and it'll compute your BF and water percentage. I'm sure using calipers are more accurate, but this scale is accurate enough for my purposes.

Morning Fab, I took a look at your food diary and to me, you are on the right track. I was confused by a couple of your dinners (were they salads or did you just have lettuce and other "salad" looking items). It's okay if they were, but my question would be, if they were salads, did you add salad dressing? If so, you'll…

When a sugar craving hits, I usually keep busy by reading a book, working on a puzzle, or doing something to keep your mind occupied after eating dinner. If after an hour, the sugar craving persists, try a couple of tic tacs (or a different breath mint). They are very low in calories (I think around 1 1/2 per mint) and…

Not to keep repeating what everyone is saying but I agree. This should not be a "Diet" but a change in lifestyle. Many people in the fitness industry have what they call a "cheating" meal where, for 1 meal/week they indulge in a little something extra. I'm not saying eat a 2000 calorie meal, but if you wish to indulge in…

Hi Kat, Quick question. As you lose weight, please remember to go to the "goals" section and update them. This will recalculate, based on your current weight and your goal/week, how many calories you need to consume each day (each lb dropped lowers your caloric need/day by about 10). It would be great if the website did…

The one I use is Dymatize Nutrition's Elite Gourmet Milk Chocolate. I drink it because my trainer recommended that I buy one that is a whey and casein blend. My nutrition store had a few whey and casein blends to choose from. I selected this one and have stuck with it ever since. If you are unhappy with your current…

The first big motivation I had was 7 years ago when my father asked me how much I weighed. After I told him 235 (I'm 5'10") he told me that my weight qualified me to play linebacker for the chicago bears! The next day, I began daily walks around my neighborhood until I reached 205.

As i stated before, I wanted to be as delicate but to the point regarding your diet. If I upset you, I apologize. It certainly was not my intent to cross any lines. It takes a lot of courage to allow others to view your diet and exercise diaries and ask for comments. Once you replace the unhealthy foods with healthy ones,…

I'm rather new here and therefore I'm not sure of the protocol regarding reading someone's diary and commenting on it. If I cross a line, I apologize. Here goes... You need to change your "Diet". I took a look at what you've been eating for the past few weeks and you'll NEVER get healthy eating what you've been eating. I…

I have to agree with Goeke. There are 2 components of maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise). For me, the exercise portion took 2 months to become a habit. I hadn't excercised since my college days (20+ years ago) and therefore I've had many years to develop the habit of not working out. Given that, it took me…
