bumping because I need new running songs!
-
I went to jogfm.com and found some playlists i liked, then just downloaded the songs via youtube, and put them in a playlist on my phone. I use the playlists through nike+ right now, but I am thinking about going to runtastic pro. you can use your playlists there too.

I am racing one on saturday morning. I will log in afterwards with times and splits! Yay. this is such a great idea!

Thanks. I wouldn't like it to MFP because I don't log my calories burned here as I use TDEE -20%, but i like the option.

I used Running Mate's 5k101 for 5 training. Now I use Nike + Running, Fartlek Drills +, 10k for Pink, Nike Training Club for days when I need to do something different, and Tabata Timer, for the occasional Tabata Drills. After all these reviews I am thinking of switching to Runtastic Pro, but I use DailyMile.com to track…

Hi Rachel, I just finished C25K yesterday and since you asked for it, I will impart my "wealth of knowledge" on to you. haha. Just kidding, I am far from an expert, but here is what I have found. 1)You don't need to be in great shape to get started. I could barely run a minute at the start and now I can run over 3 miles in…

I have no appetite after my runs either. Sometimes for hours. It sucks when I am trying to get a certain amount of calories in but I feel nauseated for hours after a workout and can't eat! So annoying.
-
It takes me a while to get hungry in the morning too. Usually about an hour after I get up, I will eat breakfast. Then I spend the rest of the day eating before I get hungry!. I usually have a small snack like a yogurt of a string cheese around 2 hours after breakfast. Then I have lunch an hour or hour and a half later.…

Thank you so much! I was excited about the pace, but hoping to spend the next month getting it down to around 10min/mile. Always looking a head I guess. Aiming to finish this one in 33 and my next one, on June 15th in 30. Thanks again for the encouragement! ~Cat

I used a program called 5k101 and it was a great app. I think i got it free when they had a promotion. It tells you when to run and when to walk and its an 8 week program where you run 3 times a week. The runs are between 30-45 minutes including a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down. I loved it. In fact I just finished…

Thank you!!!

27th birthday. Ugh. But then I started eating better and exercising better, reduced a lot of stress in my life and haven't seen one in about a year now.
-
I wish you all the best of luck. Just remember that after the 5th week it is really mostly a mental game. If you believe you can do it, you will do it. ~Cat

VS model!

OMG!! I had the same thing in week 2! I got fitted for new shoes, it helped a bit, but then I bought zensah compression sleeves for my calves and I have run with no pain ever since. They are a godsend to me! Good Luck. You can do it!

Good Luck on your park run! And congrats on your impending "graduation." It feels so good!

If you are in NY, and join NYRR and do their 9+1 program, where you run any 9 races all year, plus volunteer at 1, they will pay your entry fee to the maraton. Just a thought. Good Luck!

Thank you so much! Every race I have done I have been able to shave a lot off my time. I think its just the push of having others next to me doing it. So I hope that is a realistic goal. Thank you so much for the support. I appreciate it!

You will. I have never been a runner either, except I guess I can say I am now! I always looked at the track stars in HS and college and thought they were nuts. It has never been easy for me, and I can bet it never will, but at least I don't dread it anymore, and I find it relaxing in some respect. Nothing compares to the…

I officially graduated today and I didn't get that feeling until I got to about 2 mile. At the 2 mile mark I get a feeling like I can do anything and keep going as long as I don't let my head get in my way. Its great...Just remember its not your legs giving out, its your head giving up. Once you get to the midway point of…

A lot of people will tell you to just start slow, don't get down on yourself if you can't do the whole thing. Just focus on breathing and proper form. Don't be afraid to talk walking breaks, and make sure you are wearing running shoes suited to your particular foot and gait. Get fitted at a running store, i promise it will…

Me too. It stays that way for hours if I don't cool down properly. After cardio i try to do at least a 5-10 minute cool down, stretch for 5-10 minutes then I either take a cool shower, or wash my face with cool water. That usually gets it back under control for me.
-
I am going to have to go with the car...since thats really my only option. But it is a hot car!
-
 you. That just made my day.

call me a material person, but it depends on the t-shirt! If its a great tech shirt, i will pay a bit more. Also, if its for charity I am happy to pay a bit more too. I have never done a marathon or half, but most of the 5 and 10k's around here are $20-40. The color runs and adventure races are a bit more and those, you…

I used to love my brooks Ghost, and glycerine's but I tried the new models of each recently and even after running in each for 2+ weeks they didn't feel right. the glycerines felt like I had a hard bubble under the ball of my foot all of the time...and the ghost still gave me blisters after 2 weeks. Never had that problem…

I have a pair of Nike Frees but they are more for kicking around the house or running errands. I don't think I could ever run in them! My shin splints would be back in a heartbeat!
-
That is totally doable. Look up fartlek drills and hill drills and work on those for a while until the race. If you have the distance down, you just need to work on speed and those will help you do it the right way. ~Cat

I officially graduate tomorrow!!! Last run tomorrow morning, then my 5K on saturday! Can't wait! My goal is 33 minutes!

Make sure you have the right shoes for running on pavement. It makes a huge difference. Also, even when you percieve a course to be flat it might be banked one way or another, or cambered one way or another. Try to run towards the center of the road if its not a busy road. That is where you will find the flattest spot on…
