A lot of people swear by Zumba. I tried it once and didn't love it, but have to try it again. The week I happened to go was school vaca week around here and there were only 4 ppl in the class, and the instructor that day was a sub. I adore Spinning and am addicted to it. If your gym offers spinning it might be on a…

I don't do any one category of diet 100% of the time either. I find it to be an unrealistic expectation for myself. Promising myself that I am *only* going to eat ABDC for all of eternity is just setting myself up for failure.

I agree. I attend birthday parties with my 5 yo constantly, sometimes they're every weekend this time of year. When asked if I'd like a piece of cake I simply say "no thank you." I am not being rude. As far as family dinners go, there isn't a big reason why you can't eat the same foods your husband likes. Aim for smaller…

My BMR is only 75 greater than 1200. Do people usually have much more of a difference? I just aim for the 1200 because I figure the 75 is negligible.

You are a 28 year old adult. Tell her the truth and if she balks about it say "I am sorry you feel that way, but this is the decision I've made" and move on. You're not a child; it's not her call.

My Olympic body match is Hao Wang, a diver from China. I'll take that. I am not interested in getting ripped, just tone. Wouldn't mind having bigger boobs though. ;)
-
Right. I just override the calories burned that MFP reports with whatever my HRM tells me.

Oh, and re jeans ... I've gotten into plenty of clubs with a "no jeans" policy wearing jeans, but they were $$$$ designer jeans. I wouldn't wear jeans out clubbing this time of year though. And I wouldn't chance it if I didn't know for certain that I'd be allowed in wearing them.

I recently went clubbing in Miami and most girls were wearing short, tight dresses. I wore very short dressy black shorts with a glitzy top. Here is a pic: I had a hard time finding a short enough dress. I am SHORT. And I refused to shop at Forever 21 due to my age. But all of the girls who I was with wore dresses from F21…

I must be a complete slacker because that seems like too many rules to me. I eat carbs whenever I feel like eating carbs and don't really think too much about it. In my experience I am able to lose weight if I consistently burn more calories than I eat. It doesn't seem to matter where the calories are coming from or what…

If he gives you trouble just tell him you're eating on Hawaiian time. :))

If you're a beginner start with 30DS . Once you feel you've mastered that and/or are bored of it, then move on to Insanity. If you're not a newbie to vigorous exercise you might consider going straight to Insanity. I've done 30DS many times but have never tried Insanity. I hesitate to commit to the 6x/week schedule.

If you stay within your daily caloric goals/needs it should not make any difference what time of day you're eating. If you're eating "extra" calories after 6pm than it'll stall your weight loss, but not any more than if you were eating those same "extra" calories at 3pm or 11am. What your dh has told you is a common…

It's a great beginner workout. I've done it a few times including after having each of my girls to kick start my weight loss. I love that it's quick. You might feel like you're going to die, but it's going to be over soon so you stick it out. I've now moved on to some of Jillian's other videos and love them as well. (No…

I try to do an "official" workout 5-6 days a week. On my days off I am still active. I have kids who don't allow me much rest.

When I was 22 and working at my first "real" job after college. The phone was gigantic, and not the least bit smart. I'm 34 now. I am very thankful that smart phones and social media didn't exist when i was in college. :))

Just finished a Kashi TLC Oatmeal and Dark Chocolate Cookie. It was good. :)

I go with what my HRM tells me. If I weren't going to do that I might question why I bought and use the HRM in the first place. :) That said, MFP was way underestimating my calories burned during a 45-minute Spinning class. It estimated 270 calories while my HRM reports 400 calories. I've been tracking it as 400 calories…
-
Based on this I'd go with a HRM.
-
I did some research when deciding between the two and ended up going with a HRM because: - I am not interested in tracking routine steps taken throughout the day, or stairs climbed, because I do not wish to record these as exercise - I do want to track calories burned during Spinning, circuit training (mostly Jillian…

Fenway Park is amazing but there is a lot of tempting food everywhere so try to eat a healthy lunch or dinner *before* you head to the park so you're less likely to go grabbing for the Fenway Franks and fries. :) You'll walk a lot in Boston. It's a very walkable city. Seafood in Boston is a wonderful thing. Stick to…

I have to count them out beforehand because I can easily eat an entire bag if I am not paying attention.

And it doesn't have to be a hard set rule. If you're hungry eat some/all calories back. If you're not hungry don't force yourself to eat something just because you said you would. Some days you may be hungrier while others not so much. Listen to what your body tells you and be prepared by having healthy options nearby.
-
I tend to eat mine back because I am starving, and because I burn nowhere near 1000+ calories in a single workout. The most I burn is 500 calories during an hour-long spin class. If I were to burn 1000+ calories per day in tracked exercise and not eat at least some of it back I am not sure I'd manage to get up a flight of…

I am too busy keeping track of my own kids to notice or care what a 10 year old stranger is doing. I mean, if she were waving around a machine gun I might notice, but an iPhone ... who cares? That sort of thing doesn't grab my attention.

If your commute involves walking for 40 minutes per day I'd choose lightly active, even though you have a desk job. That is assuming you don't track your 40 minutes of walking as an exercise. I chose sedentary because I have a desk job, despite the fact that I walk to the store a few times a week, chase kids, etc. Because…
