Hi rainbowbow and Rileysowner, Thanks for your responses. I'm definitely not using my home made "shakes" as a means of drastically cutting calories by having only 90cals per meal. Rather I'm using them as a convenient way of getting my veggies whilst hitting my macros. I often have days during the week (and almost always…

Thanks everyone for your responses, I wasn't expecting this to be such a contraversial subject! As a few people have suggested, I do indeed only put one piece of fruit (and I make both my shakes at once, so actually I only have half a piece of fruit in each shake). The fruit is simply to add a touch of sweetness, but the…

Hi quiksylver, In total my shakes are around 300 - 400 calories each. MFP has me on 1300 calories a day (I'm female and not very tall!), so that leave me with 500 - 700 calories for dinner.

So you're saying that there's no nutritional benefit to me eating the vegetables and fruit whole rather than blended? Because that makes it a whole lot easier for me!

Thanks guys, That's a good point Lounmoun, at the weekends I'm still eating at least two meals a day, sometimes three (with no shakes) so I don't think that should be a problem. But I will make sure I take a "solid" lunch into work once or twice a week. And that's an interesting point you make Phil, I've not heard of that…

Thanks, that's really reassured me  Yes, when I first started making the shakes, I spent quite a long time playing around with how much of each ingredient to put in to make sure I meet my nutrient and calorie goals. And like I said, for the first time I am satisfied with what I'm eating, and not spending every hour…

Water! I have a pint on waking up and then one before every meal. I have a pint if I think I'm hungry (and wait half an hour to see if it was hunger or thirst), I have a pint if I am hungry (to curb my appetite somewhat before eating), I have a pint if I'm bored and in danger of late night snacking.

Very nice! I've been really surprised how many steps I actually get in at work when I think I'm not moving at all (I get in about 3,000+ over the course of a working day)

Also, apparently today is National Walking Day: http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/HealthyLiving/PhysicalActivity/Walking/National-Walking-Day_UCM_448665_Article.jsp#.VwT8XvkrLIU

Drinking water! I'm terrible at drinking enough water, but on the days I do try and make a real effort to drink more, I find I think about food much much less throughout the day and always come in under target (my target is higher than yours, at 1650, and I still struggle to stick to it most days!). I try to drink 2 litres…

http://stronglifts.com/5x5/ Scroll riiiiiiight down to almost the bottom of the page where he mentions lifting for ladies, including the fact that even the unloaded bar MAY be too heavy for you, and suggests kettlebell exercises to start off with instead. Basically, for me the moral is "Just start". With whatever weight…

Strangely, I've often (but not always - still make sure you read the labels to check!) found that the supermarket "value" range foods are lower in added sugar, salt and fat than the "premium" range foods. I assume this is because not adding the extra sugar/salt/fat makes it cheaper? Also, I would strongly advise that where…

I love this!! Sooooo true!

Amazing post. I'm just as guilty of dishing out this self-abuse as the next person and I've noticed that I've started doing it more and more over the past several month. But it's a ridiculous, self-defeating complete of waste of my energy that has to stop - and I think you've just given me the kick up the backside I've…

Wow, you look fantastic. And so happy, which is even more important!! I've also benefited hugely from lurking and reading posts and responses from other people without ever posting anything myself. So thanks to everyone who's active on the forums, lots more people appreciate your advise than you'll ever realise!

First off, I completely agree with all the pages of people saying that this isn't about your weight or appearance at all. This guy is being controlling and abusive, and will continue to find flaws with you even if you lose all the weight and have the surgery and become the "perfect" girlfriend (hint: there's never such a…

Hey, Thanks for all your suggestions guys, that's really helpful :-) And yes, a hen party / hen do is the British equivalent of a bachelorette party (and the British equivalent of a bachelor party is a stag do). I hadn't even considered that "hen do" might not mean anything to some people, sorry!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm going to have a look at the books mentioned and also ask at my gym again to see if there is a specific member of staff that I can book a session with. I'm excited about starting, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right!!
