9 stone at 5'5"...? You'll look quite thin. I'm the same height and I'd never look right just above 9 stone. Still, I'm quite thick boned so I'm told. I know what you mean about toning though. It's tough but stick at it...

Based on your height of 5'5" and your weight of 143ib (or 10st 2lb) you may not need to lose any. Although you say your bmi is 27 ish, it may be a case of just improving your tone and trimming up a little bit. You're certainly not overweight. You look just perfect in your picture...

Your parents must be smoking crack.... [/quote] Funny! (and I agree)

You are definately NOT extremely overweight....! My hubby is about 5'9" and is 14 stone which is only a stone lighter than you. However, you are over 2 inches taller. From what you say you're physically fit so I wouldn't worry too much.

Staying within your calorie goal but eating rubbish or fast food sounds good in theory but just remember your body takes longer to break down processed foods as opose to natural foods like fruit and vegetables. Not only this but your body will be able to use more of the foods internally than the elements that make up…

Low calorie jelly is my secret weopon for this. I have the Hartley's low-calorie pots which contain less than 10 calories per pot and taste lovely. They are not heavy so they are great to eat litterally just before you go to bed and are totally guilt free!

I keep getting told I'm taking things too far as I look at the fat / calorie / salt / carb content of things I eat. I only have about 10lb to lose in about 9 week which isn't extreme by any stretch of the imagination but the way people keep going on anyone would think I'm starving myself to achieve it. I keep telling…

It's one thing to commit to lose weight, which is feat in itself but to one, admit you have a problem and then two, to actually sought proper correct and sensible advice is out of this world and extremely inspirational. You are a great role model. Contratulations xxxxx

Try incorporating strength training in your workout. It gave me a kick up the backside as far as weight loss is concerned.

So do I...!

I've had the same issue. Everyone including myself is noticing my figure changing but I've only lost 6lb!

I go to a body building gym full of men. Although their main objective it to body build and gain bulk which is transformed into muscle, they cannot show the muscle and it isn't visible without first burning the fat that covers them! Any of the men in my gym will tell you that weight training burns calories and is an…

When I'm strength training my heart rate spikes so I do watch my heart rate monitor / calorie counter and record the calories lost accordingly. I've input these into exercises I have created myself. It has been proven that strength training does help weight loss considerably due to the calorie burn after the workout is…

God... so true!

Totally agree.

I personally only count the calories I burn during my workout. Anything else is a bonus! The DVD sounds perfect with strength training. Good luck xx

If you're doing low intensity cardio which is what it sounds like, you stop burning calories basically as soon as you stop. If you were doing HIIT (interval training) you'd burn for a few hours after. However, doing weight training, you continue to burn calories for up to 36 hours after you've finished your workout. The…

70 BPM for a lady between 30 and 40 is good but not below average. Mine ranges between 58 and 64 which for 33 is below average. If you were 84 years old and your BPM was 70, that would be low!
-
I couldn't comment on what exercises you should be doing as everyone is different. If I were in your position, I'd probably get one of the ladies who work at the gym to talk me through what kind I could do and take it from there, and see what worked the muscle groups I wanted to target. The one bit of advice I can give is…

Do both, do both, do both. Bigger cars burn more fuel to run. It's the same with your muscles. Muscles are the powerhouse within your body. They burn calories whilst just existing. The more muscle you get, the more calories you will burn even at rest. By lifting weights you will burn the carbs that get stored there from…

I feel like this about water sometimes. My tummy is my consious area and drinking water makes it look bigger and makes me feel fat. I do feel more awake and feel like I have more energy but the bloaty feeling it gives me isn't a nice effect. I do try and cut out as much salt as possible to prevent water retention. I don't…

Yes but there is a difference between 'good sugar' and 'bad sugar'. Natural sugars found in fruit and veggies are broken down by the body a lot easier that sweetners and processed sugar that is not made by Mother Nature.
-
I agree with this. Muscles are the powerhouse within your body. They burn calories whilst just existing. The bigger you get, the more calories you will burn even at rest. By lifting weights you will increase their size (although women find this harder than man due to the lack of testosterone) and burn the carbs that get…
