How much of a geek am I? . There was also 640x480, and my favorite, 320x200. Either with 16 or 256 colors. Bios modes.

That's a tough call because for any one class, you could be doing very different kinds of activities. My style is Uechi-ryu karate, and we'll have classes that concentrate on sparring, which is wildly aerobic. Other classes may concentrate on doing kata, or forms. Doing these correctly is very taxing, gets the heart rate…

It's a tie between Aliens and Army of Darkness.

I have the same problem. I just had an MRI and found out there is a 5mm tear on my adductor longus tendon, which is one of the groin muscles. I get the pain if I try to run. Doctor said not to aggravate it, lest the tear gets worse....

I have my second degree black belt in Uechi-ryu karate. I was supposed to test for my third degree next week, but a groin pull has put that off a couple of months.

Small popcorn (no butter) and a bottle of water?

The only cardio I've done that approaches sparring is High Intensity Interval Training and bag work, and they're still not quite the same. I've come to the conclusion that to increase sparring stamina is to keep sparring.

Good luck with your test.

You still went and competed. That's what really counts. Are there any videos of the event?

My gym used to have liquid soap dispensers in the showers, but they removed them. Now I bring my own bottle of Dr. Bronner's castile soap. A little goes a long way, and it smells great.

That does seem high. Unless you're sparring, most classes are not constant activity Try wearing a HRM to class, if you dare. Just how good are your blocks :-)

Sounds like you've found your passion. I say go for it and take it as far as you can.

I agree, injuries are part of the activity. I've broken a toe, a finger, and thrown my back out over the years. Nothing too serious, but the older you get, the longer it takes to recover.

Based on your post, I'm looking into this. I'm actually seeing my doctor tomorrow. Maybe she'll recommend massage therapy.

Thanks for the advice. I think we have a foam roll at my house. I'll give it a try.

It's not a hamstring. It's a muscle in the inner thigh of my left leg. It's really an odd injury. I can do lots of activities, like elliptical and spinning without pain. I can walk, but as soon as I break into a trot, the pain gets pretty intense. It seems to be a single muscle that is injured. I was taking it easy in…

I understand. I'm testing for my third degree next month (pre-test in two weeks), and I pulled a muscle in my leg. It's now become a race to heal the injury before the test. I've been actively preparing for this test for over a year, and I can't believe I got this injury now. The worse part is, I don't know how it…

Take him aside and tell him you want to be pushed to your personal limit. If it's not hard enough, tell him to hit harder! He will learn what your limits are, and eventually push you a little further. I noticed a huge difference in my sanchin testing when I lost 30 pounds off my stomach. There was far less fat to absorb…

Tape it up and take lots of Ibuprofen?

Do you feel safe in this relationship? Uncontrollable rage is kinda like a warning flag.

Running can build up one kind of stamina, but it doesn't always translate into fighting. I find that back-to-back sparring matches, with little or no break in between is a great way to build up stamina.

It seems to me that you have three options. 1. Find a school with a good teacher that you feel will help you get back into TKD. You took it before at your highest weight. Why can't you do it again? 2. Workout on your own, or find a partner until you're comfortable going back to a school. 3. Do nothing. I'd vote for #1.…

Not a classy response, but ask a friend if you have bad breath. If you do, your SO might not want to say anything.

I cook dinner, and my wife and I both cleanup, usually.

If you need letters of recommendation, stay nice in the office. Don't burn your bridges.

Fearless with Jet Li is fantastic. Hero is also a beautifully filmed movie, also with Jet Li.

I didn't find it scary, only tough on the feet in some parts because of the rocks. Except perhaps when the moose were around. It was rutting season, so we were very vigilent. It was a great stretch, though. Very beautiful.

I did 1200 miles in 1989. My knees blew out so I had to stop. My wife, however, kept going. I turned into her support team and followed her up by car. I provided the food deliveries, took care of town stuff, etc. After my knees settled down, I hiked with her when I could. I did end up doing the 100 mile wilderness in Maine…

Why bother boiling them? You can microwave a whole sweet potato in a few minutes.

Think about previous victories or obstacles I've overcome.
