Yes. I have the FT7 also and noticed the same thing. I went to their web site and did some digging and found that it does indeed change the point where it switches from "fat burn" to "fitness" based on changes in the heart rate it measures. I don't exactly understand how it changes but according to the web site, that is…

Thanks for posting this. Not that I usually have to worry about "too little sodium" but it's nice to know what that lower limit is. I agree w/ Allyscheer, it'a all about balance.

Chronologically I'm over 50. Since starting on my journey to health and fitness, I feel better than I did in my 30's. You just took a step in the right direction. Good luck and friend me if you like.

This a total NSV (non-scale victory)! Congratulations! It means your heart is getting stronger and yes, the answer is to push harder. It does mean more effort but I always look at it as a victory. I know the feeling. I used to have to keep slowing down to keep my heart rate from getting too high. Now I have to work to get…

It always helps to know you have others in your corner supporting you. Please feel free to add me as a friend.

Oh my! This sounds great. I'm going to try this. Thanks!

For what it's worth, just read this article this morning... Dr. Oz and the Hormone Diet In "the shortcuts Dr. (Mehmet) Oz would never take," the Hormone Diet, also called HCG*, tops the list. "Initially, this diet may help you rapidly drop pounds. Ultimately, it destroys your metabolism, as you are essentially starving…

I've had it about 3 months. Yes, I love it and yes the strap comes with it. It was definitely worth the money for me.

I have a Polar FT7. It was about $90.00. It does have a chest strap and I don't think anyone would notice that you have it on unless you are wearing a tight shirt. I always wear a t-shirt and I don't think it's visible at all. I've heard a lot of people say that the calories burned that they get on MFP are higher then…

For me it was pretty much the same things everyone has already mentioned...family history of hbp, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease. When my doctor put me on hbp medications he said I would probably be on them the rest of my life. I asked if diet, losing weight and exercise could get me down to where I didn't…

This is great! Thanks for sharing.

Hey, you're talking to me! I started at 259 in March of 2010. Right now I'm at 160 and my ultimate goal is 150 so only 10lbs away. I've been overweight most of my life and the biggest change for me this time is the kinds of foods I'm eating not just "how much". I eat mostly whole, clean foods, lots of fruits and vegetables…

Yep...I would be filing a report to the state board. And just because a person has "dr" in front of his/her name doesn't mean they know everything. It reminds me of the old joke. You know what they call the guy who graduates last in his medical school class?...DOCTOR! Forget him and be proud of the fact that you have lost…

I know the feeling. One day you just wake up and can't believe what you've let happen. The good news is that you have decided to make the change. That's the first step. Take it one day at a time and I'm sure you can do it! There are so many success stories here to prove that. Feel free to add me if you like and good luck!

My favorite "after workout" snack is a banana and organic unsalted peanut butter. It's 285 calories and only 1 mg of sodium.
-
Welcome! You have taken the first steps. It's a lot of hard work and it won't happen overnight (didn't gain all that weight overnight did we?) but if you stick with it, it WILL happen. And when it does you will be so proud. Take it one day at a time. I know this from personal experience. I've lost 96 pounds since last…

I found two great cook books for low sodium diet. "Low-Salt Cookbook" by the American Heart Association and "500 Low Sodium Recipes" by **** Logue. I also found alot of great recipes by googling "low sodium recipes". It takes a little effort to find good recipes and low sodium foods, but it's worth it. Good luck. Ha ha!…

For me the hardest part of watching my diet is reducing sodium. Almost anything that is highly processed is going to have lots of sodium. The best way to reduce it is to focus on fresh fruits and vegetables and foods that require very little processing. It's seems to be easier to find low-calorie or low-fat foods in the…

Great post! I think people often get caught up in achieving a "number on the scale". The goal should be to get healthy and there is no quick fix for that. These fad diets may work short term by helping hit that magic number but they do not help reach the ultimate goal of a lifetime of health.

What made this time different for me was changing the reason for the weight loss. Last March my doc put me on medication for high blood pressure and told me I would probably be on it for the rest of my life. I didn't like the sound of that so I decided I would do what I could to get off the medication as quickly as…

I'm also in the states and I always get mine in the frozen foods section. They may also be called soy beans. It's the same thing. I think they have sort of nutty flavor. I love them and eat them all the time.

I understand what the article is saying but my big problem is with the "wasted time and efforts" part. Exercising and getting fit is NEVER wasted time and effort in my mind. Sure I want to lose weight and I could do that by not eating. However, I'm also in this for a healthy heart, mind AND body so all my exercise is not…

I had the exact same problem. I tried a variety of brands, with meals, with milk, morning, evening...you name it, I tried it. I just could not take a multivitamin without getting nauseous. What finally worked for me is taking chewables. I now take Centrum chewables every day and never have a problem. And I'm a firm…

Wow! You look like you lost 10 years along with that 25 pounds! Looking great!
-
I soooo agree with you. This is a lifestyle change for me. If it's going to work and if I'm going to maintain this weight loss, it has to be something that I can "live" with for the rest of my life. Great post!

Well at 54, I qualify as a "senior citizen" by AARP standards! I've been on my weight loss journey since 3/29/10 but only found MFP in Oct. 2010. I've lost 92 pounds (18 since joining MFP) and have 17 more to go. I know everyone always says it's harder to loose weight as you get older but for me it has actually been easier…

I usually average between 30 and 40 g of fiber every day. I get most of my calories every day from fruits and vegetables so getting enough fiber never seems to be a problem. I'm with you though, I can't imagine only averaging 11 g a day.

Definitely take pics. When I hit a plateau and start feeling frustrated, I go back and look at the pictures. When I see how far I've come it helps put the plateaus in perspective.

Been there! For years I refused to change my DL info as my weight slowly crept up. At my heaviest I weighed 80lbs more than the license said. One of my mini goals last year was to weigh less than what it says. Now I'm actually looking forward to having to change it this year because I can now, honestly, say that I weigh…

I also used to have this problem. I've tried many different brands, with food, milk, etc and always got nauseous afterwards. What worked for me is switching to chewables. Now I take Centrum chewables and never have a prolem.
