I want a 35 foot sloop in top condition in the Mediterranean with people I love and a bottle of wine!

for the record, I first hit my goal weight 5 years ago... and while I think 148 lbs is too heavy, I think it's fair to say that I am maintaining to some extent- I'm nowhere near what I was when I was pushing 180.
-
for me maintenance has been hard. I haven't figured out how to maintain a stable weight. I fluctuate under and over my goal weight.... but by a bit. My goal was 135, I went down to 123 and up to 148. Considering I started near 180 and considering I started strength training when I was at my lowest weight, 148 (which is…

You are so rad!

loose skin on a healthy body that can do awesome stuff is not really all that bad.

The internet has resources for beginners- but I think there might also be some in the forums here. There's books in the bookstore (New Rules of Lifting for Women comes to mind, as does StrongCurves).

Higher reps lead to bigger muscles (bulking).... heavier lower rep range builds strength. Please reference: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/high-reps-low-reps-which-rep-scheme-is-best.html

Gives yer man something to grab with his hands, of course.

Yes. Unfortunately.

personally, I count it if it makes me walk more. yeah. but I don't count walking like from my car to my house, or around the office. But if I go on a lunch walk, I count it. I also have my setting to sedentary.

I was vegan for 11 years. Now I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. I have been a vegetarian since 1995. To me, asking what to eat that is vegetarian seems such an odd thing because humans eat only a handful of animals (cows, chickens, turkey, fish, pigs, shellfish, muscles, and I suppose the occasional rabbit, frog, monkey,…

So I have read all the comments and so much face palm. My sweetie has the goal of gaining weight and is using MFP to do so. My goal is to lose weight and use MFP to do so. We both eat what we should and accommodate each other. He buys high calorie foods. I eat a salad. There is no frickin' issue. If I thought like some of…

carrying things to the garage is exercising!!! And donuts are fuel for long runs!!!!! He is trying to help!!!!!

Thanks. Though I was hoping to interact with other MFP users about my size and about the same issues.

Oh and I lift so while my legs aren't petite, they also aren't fat. Pretty solid muscle there!
-
I tried for like 7 years and the scale kept creeping up.... and then something clicked. For me, it was making a definitive decision to do this thing- and do it right. No more "I'm eating only raw foods" no more "i'm getting up at 4 am to work out for two hours before work".... i decided to do something reasonable,…

All i can say is my mom is 74 years old, took up lifting this year, and has muscles she has never had before in her life.

I'm personally really frustrated by this. I ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and lost 50 lbs. was at my lowest weight, smallest size, and no abs. So I started lifting and eating more, I'm sure I built muscle there because my waist line went up, but now i have more pudge on there than I want. So I am back to trying to…

I think they dont like it because they don't like doing cardio?? The thinnest I ever was, I was doing a ton of cardio. I lift now too, but I still think cardio is necessary for me to lose the body fat.

I feel this too. And i'm at my original goal weight. I think that a solid 70% of this battle is purely inside our heads. Loving ourselves is more important than any of that other crap.

I'm jealous. I have to wait for everything all the time at my gym.
-
Both, plus outdoors. Lift at the gym. Home is yoga and lighter weights. I usually can do complexes and OHP and deadlift at home- no need for extra equipment... but squat i want a rack and bench i need a bench. If I could afford to have equipment at home, to be honest, I would prefer it because my gym has a lot of lifters…

I'm 5'4 and currently going between 141 and 145 lbs... I consider myself in maintenance even though I'm trying to lose 10 lbs because i started at 174 lbs. I got down to 123 which was honestly pretty nice, but then I started lifting. I know 145 now isn't what it was before (because muscle weighs more than fat per the same…

i have been doing 5/3/1 for i think three years now and I need something new... anyone have other intermediate program suggestions? I have done strong curves and 5/3/1 at the same time (obviously varied the strong curves) and am considering doing a version of 5x5 thats intermediate. I am at either intermediate or advanced…

Strong Curves is literally the best book out there for this. Squats and deadlifts are definitely good- went from flat to not-flat. But when i added the work outs from strong curves, it was even better!

The thing about this post that is so laughable to me is that while weightloss is pure calories in vs. calories out, you take this stance that people are just "making excuses" if they aren't doing what you did and you dole out the "tought love" without recognizing that your life is, in fact, a lot easier than some of the…

I only made that distinction because i think it was worse for me to not be eating at all than to be a little chubby. Not offended :)
