So people at pF don't sweat enough to get their clothes wet AND they don't have a "wipe down equipment after use" policy??? So glad I never joined that gym.

New NsV goal: get kicked out of PF for being "too toned"

How YOU doing???:glasses:

I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm the only person who joins the gym closest to her current residence who expects to be able to do her exercise routine at her gym she pays for...

I like to look in the mirror at myself as I am lifting in just a bra. It's not for anyone but me. Judgy much??

in to see who calls this thread "divisive"!

I think i regret all the time i spend worrying about crap and not actually focused on being present with him.

I was vegan for 11 years and am now a vegetarian. I think your desire to judge me for eating animal by-products without eating meat is just a symptom of you wanting to complain. When i was vegan, people would point at my leather shoes and point out how that was hypocritical (even though I had bought the shoes years prior).…

Right?? Unless I'm sick or something, it's just something I gotta do- work out 4x's a week. I can adjust the days I go to fit my needs, adjust my work out if I have to (like if I can't get to the gym to lift, I'll run instead). But you just do it.
-
I incorporate crossfit work outs into my regimine- after my work sets of course and as assistance work- and I think they are pretty bomb. But that's pretty much all i know about it.

dump her. She deserves better.

well. Aren't you just charming.

I looked up some calculator online that told me for an hour of lifting, I burn 330 calories in an hour. I can't find that website right now but this one gave me the same basic numbers (http://www.livestrong.com/article/338469-how-to-calculate-calories-burned-weight-lifting/).... Anyways, MFP says i would burn LESS in 60…

I agree with those who say don't worry about your calories right now... and I also agree with givinig yourself time to grieve, taking a break, and maybe going to grief counselling might be good. When my father died, i remember that focusing on much of anything, including caloric intake, was hard. I also remember that going…

i have had the opposite experience as everyone else. I find that running on a treadmill didn't translate to running outside- ie after training on a treadmill, it seemed a lot harder to run outside than it did before i trained on a treadmill. That being said, i find treadmills "harder" in that i find it harder to balance on…

I think of strong curves as "assistance work" level lifting.... ie. I only do it after I've done my serious work out. But it's also true that my introduction to lifting was focusing on the four major compound lifts (deadlifts, squats, OHP, and bench) and then diving into a program called 5/3/1 which is supposedly an…

^this. I did a study that got published and the ads that referenced the study all made it sound so different than it actually was.

Well, all i know is I felt better when I could run 7 miles than I felt when I struggled running 2 miles. And I didn't really lose 50 lbs from running (because I ran when I was fat, too...and then I'd eat a burrito and chips and guacamole and drink a soda and eat a bunch of starbuck's treats and fancy coffees and pizza and…

WORD! My last long run was 13 miles on a trail (ok a relatively flat trail, but still out in a national forest!).... so much fun! And also, I'm not built to do that regularly LOL!

when I first started jogging, I couldn't go longer than 20 minutes. It was because my heart rate was sky high (almost to 200). I had to learn that how i was breathing was encouraging a dangerously high heart rate. I had to learn to control my breath and not pant while I ran. Then my heart rate stayed lower and I could run…

I think it is probably close enough. Just based on my running a 10 minute mile = approx 100 calories and I weigh 145 lbs (female). Though when I'm on an elliptical, I still burn approx 100 calories per 10 minutes, but my heart rate is way higher than yours here (usually). I listen to thrash metal on the elliptical. That…

In sum, people burn that much by working hard. Also, i wanted to comment regarding VLCD's= You will NEVER work out this hard while on a VLCD. Deal with it.
-
Long runs will do it (2 hours for me = 12 miles= 1200 calories) So will hiking up a mountain. Or biking all over your city for a day. Or an hour of lifting plus an hour of running with a cool down walk.
-
I disagree with this and would like to see studies that compare the regain rates/percentages of people who did the different techniques. Also, I'd like to see the measurements be body fat instead of "pounds".... I think that there is a huge difference in success long term between people who do quick starvation diets and…

^ this. The study didn't show what happens when obese people lose weight. It showed what happened when obese people were starved. This would be why the general consensus here on MFP is no less than 1200. And you will hear a lot of folks saying even 1200 calories a day isnt' enough.
