There are lots of insights and suggestion provided however as an advanced practice nurse, I would encourage a conversation with you ob/gyn or primary doctor (whoever manages your annual exam) as you may have PMDD-pms disorder that can be managed with medications. Low dose birth control or SSRI. Don't suffer every month

I am by no means an expert however I can share that the shoulder is a complex set of muscles. I had shoulder (labrum) surgery in May due to a tear from overuse and am still recovering. Most or I should say many shoulder injuries come from overwork due to exercise. I would encourage reducing the amount of exercise on the…

As an Advanced Nurse Practioner, I have some insight. If you are asking for help setting a goal weight, the health care provider should provide their best advice. I will say that not all health care Providers are created equal and may not have the expertise to provide the goal weight. The BMI is one way to look at weight…

Wonderful topic. It is a nice way to reflect. I lost 3.3 pounds the week of Christmas. I logged everyday and had small portions. I have lost almost 10 pounds in the month of December. It has been challenging but worth it. I appreciate all the support.

Hi 30 Somethings... This is not my first time here however I am ready now. I had some slow success last time and had shoulder surgery that became very complicated so after 7 months I can finally think about exercise other than walking (which I hate-boring). I am 37 and closer to 38 in March. I am finally in a good place…

How Fun...Awesome topic... 1) I was an Army brat and went to 3 different 6th grades and 4 different elementary schools 2) I have to finish any movie or book that I start even if it is horrible 3) I often dream about the books that I read and incorporate myself into the plot Thank you!! Shana

RN here as well. Been a nurse for 15 years and find that many of us are not being good role models. Our giving professions do not seem to allow for planned eating and healthy activity. I am so excited to see others that are successful. I am working to change that now...

You have been given some great advice. I am in the health care field (I am an Advance Practice Nurse) and previously worked as a manager. I would not tell a person that you take constructive critism personally or that you like to gossip. The one thing that I did hear mentioned was that you may be stubborn ie. set your mind…

I am 5'7" I weigh 186 (as of yesterday) which is why I am here I wear a 12 pants and 12/14 jeans (big bottom) I wear a large top. I am big busted (DD) otherwise a medium would be fine I have a large frame-broad shoulders and birthing hips. :) My goal weight is 140 however, my lowest weight was 150, and most thought I was…

I am new here. I found MFP 2 weeks ago from a friend at work. I would scratch head why I wouldn't lose any weight when I would think that I didn't eat that bad (on my good days) and then when I logged every little thing, I discovered exactly how many calories are in those little handfuls of treats I take while sit at my…

Good evening 30 somethings...I like the durty 30s.... I am 37 and am finally living like a 30 year old. I just finished my masters which means NO MORE SCHOOL, at least for awhile. I am recently married for the 3rd time (12/31/09) This time is the charm. I was 19 the first time and the second time was better, well at least…

You have gotten so much good advice and insight. I would also encourage you to drink more water and avoid soda if at all possible. The soda promotes bloating and cramping. I am also one with very heavy periods. I had a blood clot so I can not be on birth control to assist with regularity. I would suggest that you see an…

We all have our stories and I believe that it happens the way it should. It took me 6 years to complete my bachelors of science in nursing. A number of reasons. One was I picked the wrong school to start and needed to transfer after a year and found myself with credits that didn't count. Additionally, the program didn't…

My secret reason and no-one knows this...but my closest friends would not be surprised. I am finally ready to get my body back so that people will stop asking me if my mom is my sister. She is in great shape and has taken good care of her skin so there is a very good chance that I will age gracefully if I can get my weight…

I have talked with my therapist and she has said that I can do anything that I can tolerate. It is pain from my shoulder that does not allow certain movements. She has said that I can not injure it, that it will injure me (as in pain).

I am not an addict however I have loved one so I can recognize and truly appreciate the accomplishment. Congrats on your sobriety. I will agree with something the previous poster said...addicts have an addictive personality and do tend to replace it with something else. I saw this in my past relationship and my significant…

I am so sorry for loss. I believe that it is helpful for you to share it and get support. While I am nurse and have seen and experienced a lot death in my many years, I have not (yet) lost anyone close to me. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Shana

Thank you. My very supportive husband says I should only weigh in monthly so that I do not focus on the weight. I am doing this as way of life not for a diet. I truly appreicate all of your support.
