Being only 24 I still vividly remember my school lunches. Back then I kept questioning things and now that I've grown up (a little) and learned about our American food system I'm livid. The USDA dietary guidelines are absolute crap. This is generally what the schools will follow as public school lunches are government…

LOL this entire thread.

^ The human body requires a minimum of 1500 per day to sustain life. You're body wont go into "starvation" as long as you have body fat to burn. Although eventually it fights back if leptin is too low for too long.
-
It wont do anything bad but you loose the benefits of IGF release during REM sleep to aid muscle recovery and fatty acid metabolism due to circulating blood insulin. Im all about my late night buffets. I like your style ;)

In due time. Just keep picking up the weights and building back elasticity. Lots of water!

I want to use this to elaborate on my earlier seemingly shallow post: When I see a "hard body hourglass" shape I'm thinking a few things about their personality: 1) Self-respect for health and image 2) Dedication and hard working to personal goals 3) Discipline and willpower 4) Possibly looking to be a positive role model…

Hard body hourglass. Curvy but tight. I want something to grab onto.

If it comes in a box, eat the box. It probably has more fiber.

? ::confused::

Thats absolute f*cking bullsh*t. Sorry for the language. This is an example of the bad information I cannot stand. I'll second this as well. Completely forgot about hemp.

All virtually zero carb (minus sushi) awesome thanks. Tonight I had sashimi tuna steak in sherry wine/curry sauce with my own sesame wasabi mayo over a bed of spinach and sauteed red onion with garlic garnished with cilantro and ginger.
-
Oh wow neither did I. Ignored.

pescevegan = oxymoron Haha. OK as long as you see the irony. But this omnivore would love some fish recipies. Especially flounder and salmon.

Resistance Training > Cardio. Toning is a myth.

Love this perspective. I eat whatever I want but I never want french fries. I'm never on a diet, I just change it. Being "on a diet" sounds like self-deprivation. Don't be too dramatic with your changes either or you enter the yo-yo effect. Things take time.
-
<--- Wings. haha, sorry. Stick to your guns and you'll be fine. Don't give up.
-
OK wait, first of all you can' be "fasting" if you're drinking juice. Fasting means NO calorie consumption. If you're drinking juice you're still in a fed state.
-
Because one day he just woke up like that. Years of diet and training had nothing to do with it. Not to mention women only possess 1/16th the testosterone of men.

Beans and rice, although containing a full serving (~7g) protein, come with 30g of carbs per serving. Not to mention plant proteins lack one or more essential amino acids so if you're not complementing them properly you could run into AA deficiencies. So lets say youre trying to get 0.8-1.0g/lb bodyweight at 100lbs lean…

There's no such thing as localized fat loss.

All I'm driving at is snack = meal theres no difference. If you want to have 6 meals of 400 calories or 3 and 3 of 600/300 it makes no difference. I never get this feeling - benefits of fasting for 20 hours a day.
-
All poor decisions for protein sources. Is this a real question?
-
I eat 2 lbs a meat daily and move from 190 22% to 158 7% in 2 months. It's calories in vs calories out. Of course, if you care about health, body composition, and overall well being then where those calories come from matter.

Dietary fiber from vegetables like caulflower and broccolli are insoluble fiber. We as humans lack the enzyme to break down cellulose therefore they are metabolically inert. By law, companies are required to label them into the nutrition facts but we derive no calorie benefit from cellulose. So actually you're undereating.…

Well then you're speaking of post-prandial narcolepsy from a combination insulin surge due to a single event of high calorie intake along with lowered oxygen to the brain as blood goes rushing to work through the GI giving a false sense of hypoglycemia. You don't need to feed a sugar low, the body has hormones to fix that…
-
Meal frequency/size doesn't matter as long as you reach your macros for the day.
-
Exactly what I did. You may want to try cutting out the pasta and other carbs midday - you dont need em. Replace with good fats and protein. The like honey graham crackers are all refined sugar and enriched flour. There's no reason to spike insulin with a carb/protein meal if youre sitting at work.
-
How is it never thought to do this?
-
This is true and Im pretty sure I posted that. Only problem with quinoa is the seed encasing causes a lack of bioavailability because humans cant break down the cellulose surrounding all the stuff we want from it. Although it is a grain it may be alright for those afflicted with Celiacs but depends on the farmer. Oh, soy…

Crucial points noted here. Good post.
